The slanted angles and curved steams are designed to give this font an active energy, plenty of attitude and a courageous/brave character. We recommend to combine Timberline with: Turquoise
  19. Deco Design JNL by Jeff Levine, $29.00
Hand lettering isn’t a perfect art form, and this is why it often has an appeal over formal typesetting. Individual interpretation can lead to variations in style, character shape and overall design concept. Case in point: The hand-drawn title for the1933 sheet music “Why Can’t This Night Go on Forever” is a simple Art Deco sans, however it mixes character widths and even angles the letter ‘C’ in a nonconventional way. Deco Design JNL is the digital version of this alphabet, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

  22. Grogoth by Anomali Creative, $19.00
Broken letters[1] (German: gebrochene Schrift literally "broken writing"; English: blackletter) or Gothic letters, also known as German letters, are the typeface used in Europe West from the 12th century to the 17th century. Meanwhile, Danish spoke it until 1875 and German, Estonian and Latvian spoke it well into the 20th century. Fracture is one of the broken typefaces that is often considered to represent the entire broken typeface. Broken letters are sometimes also called Old English, but not in the Old English or Anglo-Saxon sense that was born centuries earlier. This group of letters is so named because it contains Latin letters that have breaks in the curvature of the letters, either in part or in whole designs. The fracture arises from a sudden dip when writing certain parts of the letter. In contrast, letters with perfect, unbroken curves, such as Antikua, are created from smooth, flowing writing movements. Grogoth is a font inspired by the Blackletter typeface, made with a modern impression but still looks strong and unique. In addition, Young Best font is also supported with multilingual characters that can be used in several international languages. Grogoth font is very suitable for use in making music album cover designs, tattoo logos, wishkey labels, packaging pomades and so on which are made with dark and strong concepts. 23. ITC Greengate by ITC, $29.99
ITC Greengate is the result of a time-traveling, intercontinental collaboration--one between 21st century South African designer Richard Every, and early 20th century Scottish artist Jessie Marion King. Jessie Marion King (1875-1949) began her professional career as a book designer and illustrator, but over time her creativity found its outlet in many forms, including posters, jewelry, ceramics, wallpaper, fabrics, murals, interior design and costumes. After eventually settling in Kirkcudbright, Scotland, she founded Green Gate Close, a center for women artists. Although her style is reminiscent of the Art Nouveau artist, Aubrey Beardsley, King's aesthetic was an offshoot of the “Glasgow Style,” a Scottish hybrid of the Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau. Often, her illustrations included hand lettering. It was just this kind of lettering that gave Richard Every his inspiration for ITC Greengate. When he saw some children's book illustrations that King created in 1898, he knew on the spot he had to complete the hand lettering as a typographic font. He began working on the typeface in 1996, but it took six years to be released as an ITC typeface. Every simplified and harmonized King's letterforms slightly and, most importantly, added a suite of lowercase characters. The result is a somewhat earthy Art Nouveau design, with a character quite distinct from typical digital revivals. Every's career has been as diverse as King's. He was born in Durban, South Africa and studied graphic design at ML Sultan Technikon in Durban. He's been an art director, freelance designer, the owner and manager of a nightclub and co-manager of a South African band. “Through it all,” he says, “typography has always been one of my passions.”

  27. Stempel by Linotype, $29.99
The Stempel family consists of two fonts; each made to look like a set of block stamps. Each letter appears inside its own roughly drawn square. Stempel One's letters are very simple form/counterform objects. Stempel Two's forms are more ornate: each square stamp has a thin border inside of it, and then the individual letterforms have been knocked-out, so that the colored area depicts the counters around the letters rather than the letters themselves. As a line of text is typed, a box appears for each letter entered, and all of the boxes slightly nudge against each other to form the line. The Stempel fonts have the appearance of a hand-made quality to them. Their forms appear too random, too delicate, and too thought out to have been made on a machine. Using these fonts will add a nice warm, linoleum-cut touch to your work. Both Stempel One and Stempel Two were designed by German designer Martina Balke in 2002, and are part of the Take Type 5 collection from Linotype GmbH."
  28. Funny Papers JNL by Jeff Levine, $29.00

  31. Lloyd Serif by Ivan Kostynyk, $-
Initially, I participated in the contest to design the logo for Bill Lloyd. In the end, the design was rejected, but letters remained. I then decided to continue with the idea and complete the entire typeface. After a couple of months, I realized that the typeface was imperfect, and now that I’m working on an updated Lloyd type, this one is free. The main characteristic of the typeface is its bold and curvy shapes. It is also tall and original in design. It was a great experience because it taught me how failure inspires people to move on, and create something better.

  34. Funkadelity by PizzaDude.dk, $18.00
Funkadelity is a funky breed between 60ies poster typography and 80ies grafitti. Maybe even inspired a bit by comic book lettering! Funkadelity wants to burn off the dance floor and show off the fancy dance moves - at the same time, it want to show off the smooth and clean lines of the letters. Originally handdrawn, but I digitally remastered every single letter, leaving the curves smooth and clean!
  35. Homework by DAAZ, $9.00
Homework font was specially conceived/designed for teaching cursive writing. This resource allows tutors and parents to create worksheets for individual or class teaching. Associated with the dashed version of the font, students can learn and exercise their handwriting abilities. All capital letters, excluding I, F, T and P, link to any following small letter: the sequence of the previous letter stroke always follows the angle of the initial stroke of the subsequent letter. This, in the real world, means that words built with the font can be handwritten without having to lift the pen from the paper (except to cross t and f and dot i and j) or interrupt the writing flow. All the letters are base aligned and all small letters have the same ‘x’ height in order to fit a ruled worksheet. Homework font letter stroke widths are uniform in order to emulate regular pens. Homework font also mimics genuine handwriting, making it useful for online stores gift cards, thank you cards and all applications where a real world feel is desired. The Homework font also performs well on long texts.
  36. Gothamburg by Ingrimayne Type, $9.95
Gothamburg is a blackletter or square gothic face. The shapes of many of the letters were inspired by sets of letters in Oscar Ogg’s The 26 Letters (Thomas Y. Crowell Company, 1963, 1948) illustrating the gothic style of the middle ages. The Plain and Bold versions differ not just in pen width, but also in pen angle. The Plain version has less contrast between the thin and thick strokes. The ShadowedInside style has the letter shapes of the plain style but the spacing of the shadowed style. It can be layered with the shadowed style to easily create two-color lettering.

Works well with prints, cards, packaging or perhaps even a poster of your favourite chocolate! I put in ligatures to substitute the most common letter repeating - to make it look even more handmade!
  38. Taking Liberties JNL by Jeff Levine, $29.00
Within the pages of the April 16, 1938 issue of Liberty Magazine was found a hand lettered condensed typeface with a fun attitude that’s perfect for casual and informal titling. Because the art of lettering allows for taking liberties with letterforms, and as this came from Liberty Magazine as an inspiration source, it was only fitting that the typeface would be named Taking Liberties JNL. It is available in both regular and oblique versions.
  39. ITC Bette by ITC, $29.99
ITC Bette is a particularly elegant calligraphic design from the hand of Patty King. Refined and friendly, this vertical script appears to be drawn with a brush held delicately at a right angle to the page. The unconnected letters and flared ascenders create a feeling of spontaneity, while the design's vertical stress produces a calming counterpoint. Many capital letters drop comfortably below the baseline, and terminals echo a flick of the wrist.
  40. Luxus Brut by phospho, $25.00
Luxus Brut breathes the spirit of hand lettered signage of the Fifties. It’s a formal script, inspired from a well concealed shop portal in Vienna/Austria.
