Chunkfeeder was inspired by the many vernacular forms of lettering created for high speed printing and electronic displays found in our modern techie world such as postal packing slips, airline tickets and informational video displays. Many of these type of fonts are designed by engineers and interface designers who presumably do not have a background in letterform design and consequently these glyphs have many quirky idiosyncrasies. In keeping with it's mechanical inspiration, Chunkfeeder is a monospaced font, much like an OCR type font. An original script font designed by Victor Kharyk and licensed by ParaType in 2006. Based on Ukrainian Skoropis (fast handwriting) of 16-17th centuries. The font was named after Ukrainian Getman Bogdan Khmelnitsky, because the main sources and inspirations for the project were taken from collection of handwriting Universals (decrees) of that time -- the middle of 17th century. The shape of letters imitates flat nib quill handwriting with stress, bringing them informal liveliness. The Bogdan font character set contains Cyrillic, Old Slavonic , Glagolitic, Latin and Greek alphabets in two variants: Rejestrowy (Regular) and Siczowy (Alternate). In 1978 I went to work at Mergenthaler as a letter drawer. Being an inquisitive sort I decided that I should take a stab at this type design 'stuff'. I drew 25 or 30 glyphs before the work found its way to a high shelf in a dark corner of my apartment. Just 23 years later I found the drawings on a different shelf, in a different home, in a different city and decided to finish what I had started. I'm still trying to deal with my predisposition toward procrastination but I've finished the font. The name of the font is the last name of somebody I played softball with before I moved to Beantown. Ronnie Geis was one of the courageous firefighters we lost on September 11th when the WTC collapsed.

The source of inspiration for Vice Monogram is an Art Deco letterset (capitals only) from a 1915 publication by Cartier-Bresson of Paris containing classic and modern monogram patterns for embroidery. This Art Deco monogram style has been redrawn, balanced, and brought into the digital age for your type-setting use and enjoyment. The ornamented and magnificent type design used with the color plates of Owen Jones' “The Grammar of Ornament” has served as a model for this nineteenth century typeface. Astoria Antique possesses an intricate and spidery-like quality. Its v-shaped wedge endings make it look like something straight out of an old curiosity shop. Impacting and vibrant, Cordelia family draws inspiration from covers of 'cordel literature’, small booklets of popular story-poems that played an essential role on the folk-popular cultural life of Brazil.  Printed in coarse paper, usually with an woodcut illustration and lettering in the front, these booklets were sold on the streets, in marketplaces and town squares, hung in a cord - therefore the name ‘cordel’. The work of these humble printers and poet-singers of northeastern Brazil strongly served as source for acclaimed romances and movies and still inspires writers of all genres, movie makers, painters,​ musicians. And type designers too :) Cordelia doesn’t bring a picture font yet, but ​it ​goes pretty well with Chronic and Manicuore illustrations. It goes well with and without them. It definitely goes well. The first glyphs of Nougat Script were born in 2010 to honor the birth of my first chubby and charming daughter, Siena. The ongoing project with significant progress was presented at Tipos Latinos, the biennal of Latin America typography where Nougat Script was selected among 70 of the best fonts. After a long pause, the project had a powerful restart at the begining of 2018. In those days, it not only grew in number of signs but in complexity of behavior. There are 4 different types of writing within the same font file accesible via opentype features: Script (base or normal), two glyphic alternatives with well differentiated swashes and finally a small cap version. Nougat Script has a fresh and relaxed lettering attitude combined with the typographic harshness for elegant text compositions.

Star Ornaments are seen as a long standing companion to many wood type poster layouts. Various manufacturers managed to derive many variations of the five pointed star motif and offered them as a ubiquitous ornament option in almost all of their catalogs. Manufacturers such as Wm. Designed for ParaType in 1999-2004 by Gennady Fridman. The Pushkin type family is based on the autographs of Alexander Pushkin, the eminent Russian poet (1799-1837). Alternative letters typical for Pushkin's hand are included. There are several variants of Pushkin's hand. Pushkin Script in 2 styles was based on the manuscripts of 1815 and covers Western and Russian character sets. Pushkin One was developed on the basis of thoroughly written documents. Pushkin Two imitates small but nevertheless rather legible hand. Pushkin Three in 2 weights was created on the basis of the autographs distinguished by sprawling hand. Pushkin One, Two and Three series covers just the Russian character set. Romanovsky is the font developed on the base of samples from the catalogue of Osip Lehman foundry in Sankt Petersburg. Original Latin design that was used for Romanovsky can be found in Feder Grotesk by Jacob Erbar. The current digital font is not a scanned version of Lehman’s samples but a newly drawn typeface that differs from the original in many details. Romanovsky is a sans serif typeface with narrow proportions and noticeable contrast. It will be good for headings and display matters. Character set covers languages of Western and Central Europe and Cyrillic-based languages. It also contains around 20 ligatures of uppercase letters for the most frequent combinations. Designed by Vasily Biryukov. The bold weight was developed together with Olexa Volochay. Released by ParaType in 2013.

Before 1959, in pre-Castro Havana, Cuba, the preeminent nightclub was the Tropicana. During the regime of Fulgencio Batista, Cuba was resplendent with nightclubs and gambling casinos catering to [mostly] the North American tourists; which brought it the title of the Monte Carlo of the Americas. Although Cuba (and the world as a whole) has changed vastly over the decades, the hand-lettered logo of the Tropicana Night Club has survived, and has been reproduced as a complete digital font called Tropicano JNL (a slight twist to the club's name). At first the font seems to be awkward, crude and amateurish, but in taking a second look, there's a playful charm to it. Additionally, this font can double as a "spooky" font for the Halloween season, monster parties and in other similar themes.

Town is a display collection inspired by art deco and contemporary lettering. The fonts have a classic feel, with contemporary proportions, styling and details. There are eight base weights and nine decorative styles in multiple weights. The variety of styles are designed to create bespoke brand marks, stylish liquor labels, unique restaurant menus, engaging websites and fresh magazine layouts. This family is a compilation created from a Garamond set in use in Paris circa 1651, but similar to those, eroded and tired, that were in use during centuries to print cheap publications, as well as in Europe than in America, and from a large choice of printed symbols—all specially redrawn—used for alchemical, pharmaceutical and astrological books, covering 1550 to late 1800s period. Each alphabet is doubled by a slightly different one, and a special OTF encoding allows to give an irregular effect with never the same twin letters in a single word. The Normal style is enriched by small caps, and the Italic style by Swashes. A lot of symbols, too, are given twice with differences. This font may be used with our calendar specialized 1689 Almanach.

Pounder Fonts were designed by Tom Nikosey / CozyFonts Foundry. This font, as all my fonts started with pencil sketches based on the letter O. Once I arrived at the comfortable shape I worked out the C, G, & Q. The H, M, T matched the visual weight and so I moved on to E & S. As the E & S are 2 of the most repeated characters in fonts' I wanted a little bit extra here. The font is obviously heavy weighted yet very legible and almost architectural in presence. There are flashes of Art Deco yet futuristic style. After sketching the feel of this font I was excited by the possibility of the numerals styling. I can see these used for many applications. Why the title Pounder? Why not it seems to fit.

Apium is a non-trivial serif typeface. Inspired by the lettering of an old advert, it aims to add fun to a serif with distinctive features. It comes in five weights with matching italics. The typeface performs well in display environment: headings, stand out text, packaging, posters and so on. The regular and medium weights work well as body text.
