I arrived this concept as a means to fulfil a need for a simple yet radical semi-sans with rounded terminals. My concept called for a modular approach so a single weight font family resulted, the monoline stroke weights being one-eighth of the cap height and the x-height five-eights, the descent two units. Within these constraints I found it was simple to devise an alphabet which met my need for quirkiness whilst retaining its legibility. As for the outline, shadow and contour variants - well they just seem to work. Conestoga was a challenge that I took on which was to take a logo from an old antique vegetable crate label and create a complete font based on its design. The original logo was curved on a path and was caps only. The new letters were drawn straight and a matching lowercase was created to turn this old custom logo into a working font.

This family was created inspired from the first font carved and cast in France, for the Sorbonne University’s printing workshop (Paris). The characters were drawn by Jean Heynlin, rector of the university - inspired from Pannartz’s - and in all probability was carved by Adolf Rusch. The upper-case letters of Lentzers fit into the shape of a convex lens and the lower-case letters fit into the shape of a concave lens.
