Carve is an African font that was inspired by fonts such as Othello and Neuland designed in the mid-1920s. Rather than attempting to re-create these fonts in a digital form as so many others have done, I have tried to capture the “spirit” of the period and emphasize the “woodcarving” style of the font, while simultaneously giving it a contemporary feel. As a result the characters differ markedly any of the original styles and have much less of an “Art Deco” look to them. To further modernize Carve, I have included all the characters required for a full character set (lower case, as well as all punctuation, numerals, diacritics, special characters etc). The result is a thoroughly modern re-interpretation. The numbers (0 to 9) bear no relation to any originals but, I believe, are fully in keeping with the upper and lower alphabetic characters of my font. Carve comes in two styles: --Regular: contemporary, angular African style --Incised: exaggerating the chunky, hand-carved "woodcut" effect. The "in-line" effect has been hand-crafted to avoid the mechanical effect of computer-generated inline effects.

This version of News Gothic contains the Vietnamese character set. Since the release of these fonts most typefaces in the Scangraphic Type Collection appear in two versions. One is designed specifically for headline typesetting (SH: Scangraphic Headline Types) and one specifically for text typesetting (SB Scangraphic Body Types). The most obvious differentiation can be found in the spacing. That of the Body Types is adjusted for readability. That of the Headline Types is decidedly more narrow in order to do justice to the requirements of headline typesetting. The kerning tables, as well, have been individualized for each of these type varieties. In addition to the adjustment of spacing, there are also adjustments in the design. For the Body Types, fine spaces were created which prevented the smear effect on acute angles in small type sizes. For a number of Body Types, hairlines and serifs were thickened or the whole typeface was adjusted to meet the optical requirements for setting type in small sizes. For the German lower-case diacritical marks, all Headline Types complements contain alternative integrated accents which allow the compact setting of lower-case headlines.

Now here's a font with an unusual backstory. You may recall that a while ago we discovered that Tim Burton was using an outdated version of one of our fonts for the interior titles in his The Corpse Bride. Well, our quest to get hold of him didn't bear any immediate fruit, but in a totally unrelated event we were contacted by the graphic arts company working with the overseas distributors for The Corpse Bride and it turned out that they needed a font based on the main title of the movie so they could keep the same style when they retitled it into other languages. The original title was either hand lettered or a heavily modified font, bearing some resemblance to our Ligeia and Tuscarora fonts, so we had to create a whole font more or less from scratch and extrapolate most of the letters from the very limited sample in the original title by identifying certain consistent characteristics and building new characters around them. It was a lot of work, but the good news is that they didn't want exclusivity, so we've got the font to add to our collection. We ended up calling it Beynkales which means 'Bone Bride' in Yiddish, which makes sense given the context of the movie. So here it is, in all its tattered glory, and bound to end up in our Halloween font selection later this year as well. Beynkales Alternate is a companion font that includes a full set of alternative upper and lower case characters which can be used on their own or in combination with the characters from Beynkales to create a more varied and handwritten look.

Vinetters has letters on the alternating leaves of a vine. It is monospaced and uses the OpenType contextual alternatives (calt) feature to alternate leaves as the vine snakes its way across the page, putting leaves with the base down between leaves with the base up. The family has two styles, one with transparent leaves and the other with solid leaves, and these two styles can be used in layers to add color. The family has a large set of accented characters but omits some symbols that are used primarily in technical text. Spaces between words can be left blank or filled with connecting vine using the brackets, trademark-infinity, doubledagger-summation, radical-approximatelyequal, or fi-fl characters. The characters on the leaves are derived from the typeface IngrianaCasual. P22 Graciosa is a five font family based upon designs for a metal type by Carlos Winkow (1882–1952), a German type designer who lived and worked in Spain in the early 20th Century. Graciosa is a sort of hybrid blackletter/text font, with simplified blackletter caps and a serifed lowercase with subtle script flare. There is a Regular, Black, an open version called White, and an engraved version called Gris. The version called Multi serves as a fill font to allow for multi-colored layering options. A revival of these designs was initiated by Matthias Beck in 2015. The character set was expanded for use in 21 languages (OpenType Standard). The digitization and reintroduction of these old fonts—created in Spain and practically forgotten—makes them regain a new life. This project was subsidized by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.

In the typeface family "Complements" two sets of characters complement each other, so much so that they work together much better than they work separately. The two sets are designed to alternate and this alternating is done automatically in applications that support the OpenType feature Contextual Alternatives. Complements is purely for show and display; it is a horrible choice for text. The spacing is very tight, which works well for very large point sizes. At smaller point sizes the user may want to increase character spacing. The typeface is monospaced. If the spacing between words is too large, substitute the non-breaking space (or the underscore) for the space character. Complements is geometric, bizarre, and hard to read, all characteristics that catch the reader's attention. Complements comes in two styles, regular and outline. The outline style was designed to be used in a layer over the regular style.

A special category of typefaces, combining together principles of both serif and sans-serif, is sometimes described as Linear-Antiqua by German typographers. 1977 was a good year for soccer. Attendance for the North American Soccer League (NASL) grew 33%, to 13,000 per game. Brazillian soccer legend Pelé played his final match, kicking for both the New York Cosmos and Santos of Brazil. And a soccerboy named Charlie was crowned with the nickname Chanky. In honor of his soccer hero Pelé, Charlie insisted the neighbor kids call him Chelé. They laughed at him and called him Chanky after Spanky from the Little Rascals. As he grew into his manhood, he became Chank the internationally renowned font designer. Chank created this font Soccerboy, as filtered through the artistic eyes of his 1977 childhood. It's a tri-line font, hand-drawn in Chank's signature cartoon whimsy. Soccerboy encourages play with color and alternate characters. Spotlight was created by British designer Tony Geddes in the tradition of the bold serif fonts of early 19th century England. It too is a robust alphabet exhibiting extreme stroke contrasts, however, Geddes gave his font a more relaxed feel by not filling in the strokes completely. Long white rays break up the otherwise dark black strokes, following the form of the outer contours and giving the figures a three dimensional look. Spotlight is also reminiscent of the decorative advertisements of the 1930s and of the glamorous revues and shows of this time. Spotlight is perfect for headlines and display in larger point sizes.

During development of Colophon 30, the base font of the typeface family, two requirements emerged; namely that it should demonstrate good legibility and robustness when used for text composition, and where individual characters become more apparent, as in much larger sizes, these should appear well formed. Colophon 60 and 90 progressively increase in x-height to allow the counters to retain openness. The italics lean towards informality, this being apparent in the descender tails. On account of its neutrality there are few instances where the use of Colophon would be inappropriate; a quality that can also be attributed to Roy Cole's other typeface families: Lina, Zeta and Coleface.

ITC Tempus is the work of British designer Phill Grimshaw. He claims that every calligrapher's aspiration is to draw perfect roman capitals with a pen, but admits that this is extremely difficult. For this typeface, Grimshaw used a fountain pen on cheap, porous paper and, of course, the ink bled. The resulting forms are classic but their rugged edges deviate from the perfection of roman type. And Tempus Sans is just Tempus with the serif surgically removed, yet the proportions of the characters work nicely," says Grimshaw. Because of its rough quality, the typeface works best in larger point sizes, yet maintains its characters even in smaller sizes."

Cord (Zsinór in Hungarian) was originally a commissioned work for a tablecloth pattern with a thread like frame decoration that is actually consist of letters. The lettershapes were being created based on Rovas characters, which were reinterpreted without decreasing legibility. Therefore, the Rovas alphabet was designed in the first place followed by its matching Latin company. The full character set contains: Western, Central and South Eastern European Latin characters basic symbols and punctuation Rovas alphabet Rovas number symbols and punctuation Display font, best fit in larger sizes for souvenirs, folk art theme, embroidery, ribbon like decorative texts and signages. Pyke is a versatile serif typeface inspired by the Didone style of Giambattista Bodoni. After a detailed legibility study, Sofie Beier produced the typeface in three optical sizes; Micro, Text, and Display. The work goes beyond historic revival creating the complexities and subtleties of this classic style fit for users in the modern era. Cajoun is a bold serif face from German designer Hans-Jürgen Ellenberger. The letters sit visually low on their baseline, in part due to their small x-height. Also, the curved portions of the letterforms have an old-style distribution of weight, which pulls the eye downward. This font has a contemporary feel, however, with crisp edges, and some pointy terminals. The typeface also contains old style figures. Cajoun is recommended for use in larger applications, where the eye can get a change to dance along its wide curves. Cajoun was designed in 2002, and is part of the Take Type 5 collection from Linotype GmbH."

Nophine is a typeface conceived by Sulai Man specifically for intensive editorial use, mainly in newspapers, magazines, and online, its personality and flexibility make it a true multipurpose typeface. It’s time for Primal. It’s time to Rock! Primal is a polygonal typeface created with primeval times in mind. All forms have been created using few lines, angles and points. This typeface will enable you to create type that will almost scream off the page. Raaawwhrrr! Very useful for concert posters, techno parties or caveman signs. Whichever you prefer! Primal contains uppercase, smallcaps and underscored lowercase letters. By turning on standard ligatures the underscored letters will automatically connect, resulting in one single underscored line. Holografik is a Neo-Grotesk sans serif font inspired by scientific progress, existential wonder, and social oneness. With its wide structure and light airy weights, Holografik is an optimistic take on a Grotesk font. The stark Swiss style of the characters is softened with playful curved details, such as a bowed descender in the lowercase y, connected descenders in the alt lowercase g and y, and the curved bottom serif in the alt uppercase B and D. Featuring three weights and italics, it is ideal for use at larger scales like headlines, packaging, editorial, branding, and posters. Inspired by an old Russian book about Moscow’s plan to take over the world, this font was designed to give digital prints the taste of hand lettering. It’s vivid outlines and slight differences in boldness between characters give it an accurate and realistic imperfect letterpress look. It works amazingly well as a text font in small sizes and shows it’s crippled outlines only at larger sizes. »CA Moskow has a plan« has got an extensive character-set including Russian Cyrillic, the Russian Rubel and the Turkish Lira sign. Although it includes kerning, for a full simulation of letterpress print and cold-war feeling we recommend to turn it off.

Carnegie Classic differs from Carnegie 1 & 2 in that the capital letters are larger in height; several connecting strokes and letter shapes have also been refined. Classic also has many more ligatures and is only available in Open Type. Like Carnegie 1 & 2, Classic is a based on my own functional hand lettered calligraphy. Characters are disciplined yet fluid and spontaneous, creating a unique overall texture that is visually very pleasing. Carnegie Classic is ideally suited for wedding and event invitations, certificates, maps, menus, place cards, announcements, memorial documents, titles, testimonials, birth and death certificates, etc. In the gallery is a an image with all the ligatures available in Open Type.

Although at first sight Mashine is a strict, "non-design" typeface, this display font is not as geometric as it seems. The use of serif-like terminals and unusual joints gives the design a unique look. This all-caps font provides stylistic alternates for most letters. If you type larger amounts of texts you should activate the Contextual Alternates OpenType feature to have the variants replaced automatically. By choosing best fitting letter pairs intelligently a fluid text composition is achieved. The fonts are provided in OpenType format. Each font contains 470 glyphs. Technically, they follow the Adobe Pro fonts and provide the same glyph set and OpenType functionality.
