K-Block was inspired by a hand-lettered sign by a young lady by the name of Kristina Lee. It captures a light-hearted, youthful feeling and is not intended to be taken too seriously. It was drawn for fun and is fun to use. Its very inconsistency insists on being casual and relaxed. Probably better for a birthday party announcement than a bank letterhead. Can you imagine a Just-For-Fun National Bank? K-Block Solid compliments K-Block and provides a stronger presence when required. For two-color work, K-Block can be layered on top of K-Block Solid to provide a different color outline for a very effective presentation. Full Western European character set plus alternate g and y, as well as a Th ligature. Supertuba is a :) geometric sans vernacular humanist :) display type family with 6 weights. There's literally dozens of ligatures in this font so It works very well for flyers, package, stickers and posters, also you can use it as a text font if you're looking for something slightly bold. Supertuba has multilingual support and useful open type features. Letter boards that used to be seen in churches, dive bars and butcher shops are the main inspiration for this typeface. The name Supertuba came from an old supermarket that no longer exists in the city of Indaiatuba , I just believe this name is super fun (at least in Portuguese) and wanted to keep it alive. I was in Indaiatuba when I get started designing this typeface so this is fair enough. Supertuba the third piece of a particular trilogy of fonts that Stubby and Stubby Rough take part, from the lazy vernacular drawing to an unusual geometry. Enjoy!

Analogia is a digital interpretation of types used in the mid-18th century in books printed at Leuven by Martin van Overbeke. It is intended primarily for use in running text. The roman is businesslike, yet with a distinct personality; it has a generous x-height and is slightly condensed, though without appearing cramped. It is complemented by a more lively italic, which retains some irregularities in the angle of slant that are characteristic of the original. Analogia provides wide support for west, central, and east European languages that use the roman alphabet. Among its OpenType features are ligatures, small caps, several sets of numerals, contextual alternates, intelligent implementation of long ‘s’, and fractions. Normally, a short paragraph or two on this page tells the backstory to a font design. In this particular case, that story has been lost to time. Whatever the original source – whether a vintage bit of typography or an original idea – the beginnings of this font lay unfinished for quite a while as it was perceived to duplicate another previous release. However, after recently checking a sample of the design against other Jeff Levine Fonts, it’s reasonably certain this type face may have similar characteristics, but can stand on its own merit. That said, Clean Deco JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Dynamic and sportive. A well-balanced experiment for sparkling headlines. Glance Slab is an experimental design that plays on the tension between connection and detachment. In this typeface, serifs may be detached and some strokes may not connect to their stems. This creates a dynamic impression of balance and movement. The elegance of an ice skater and the determination of a quarterback: Glance Sans has it all. Where a curve meets a stem and where serifs seem to “hover” near their respective letters, the nonjoining elements create an impression similar to a stencil typeface. But here, the function of the gaps differs from strictly stencil designs: while the gaps provide a “sparkling” effect in Glance Slab that’s clearly visible in large sizes, they take on the role of ink traps when set smaller, making for surprisingly legible body copy. Identitype is very pleased to present Varent Grotesk, a sans serif family designed by Hendra Maulia and Aulia Rahman who was inspired by modern sans serif. The weights of the family itself contain 18 styles plus italic, ranging from Thin to Black. Ideally, it works to capture in a graphic way the universe related to technology, sci-fi, industry, and similar topics. It is a mixed family because of the construction of certain letters (as in “a”, “e”, “h”, “k”, “A”, “B”, and more). Another important line in the creative concept of this typeface is the function of its ink traps, which, in addition to fulfilling their primary function, serve to gain gestuality in its use. This font is capable of covering complex design needs by enabling association with specific themes, which makes it highly competitive in its graphic line.

I, uh, don't know quite what to say. I'd toiled so long over Pumpkinseed back in '96 that I guess I needed a good, wild ride to shake out the head cramps, or something. Whatever grabbed me, it forced me to sit down and design a typeface real fast directly in Fontographer (had never done that before). Took less than two hours to finish the regular character set. No way to explain it, but the exercise actually paid off -- I think. And now that there was Speed Bump, there simply had to be a companion dingbat set. (Beats the heck out of me.) Churchward Typestyle is a clean sans serif font, originally designed as a photo font by Joseph Churchward back in 2002. Under exclusive license, BluHead Studio has digitized this typeface by using his original drawings. We added any missing glyphs, being careful to maintain the aesthetic that makes this a classic Churchward design. Joseph intended this to be a six weight family, so we digitized the Light and Ultra Bold weights and interpolated the middle four. We enhanced the functionality of the family by creating a complimentary set of small caps, as well as creating a 10 degree oblique of each weight, being careful to correct the slanted curve forms of the letters. Churchward Typestyle is now an extensive 12 weight family, ranging in weights from Light to Ultra Bold, making it extremely useful in a broad range of design applications, from text and print, to display, posters and billboards. It’s sanserif design is clean and open, with a few of those characteristic Churchward goodies. Joseph loved his ink traps, so look for many of those! They especially become more apparent in the heavier weights. Designed with help and inspiration from legendary tattoo artist Dustin Horan. This beautiful time saver was designed specifically for skin application. Short words and initials can instantly be turned into seamless tribal style tattoos. Each glyph links with the next allowing letters to flow endlessly around limbs and in circles. Respecting the rhythm and geometry principles laid forth by American pioneering tribal artist Leo Zulueta, Scribal makes flowing text shapes that disguise themselves as design. When mirrored back to back and rotated vertically, Scribal becomes well-crafted tribal pattern. Typeface wise, Scribal breaks the mold. While a script font, Scribal was designed to be written in all capitals. Each capital is a mono-spaced glyph, providing even spacing. The shape influences are also vast, ranging from scripts, to blackletters, to romans. Making Scribal a very "Americanized" font, reflective of this "Americanized" style of Tribal Tattooing.

I became interested in designing Bodoni Classic because of a lazy graphic designer at Jacques Damase publishing house. He had to change a single letter on a bookcover about J. B. BODONI. The French call him Jean Baptiste instead of Giambattista! And that unknown graphic designer just took any old “J” from some newly cut Bodoni. All the new Bodoni cuts have square serifs, whereas the originals had rounded serifs and slightly concave feet. The single letter “J” with the squared off serif was for me like a road sign to start redesigning the entire Bodoni family. That’s exactly what I started in 1993 and a dozen years later I am finished. Okay, I am still adding new Bodoni Classics, but those are my personal additions. Jean-Benoît Lévy's "Inner-State" was inspired while reading the California driver handbook to pass a driver's test. Kevin Roberson's "Tail Lighting" reminds us to drive carefully and not to forget to signal. Diana Stoen's "Drivers Out There" shows us "driver personality archetypes", including the lil'ol lady that everyone tries to avoid.

Noemí is a broad typeface based on a formally classic skeleton, but with a strong Meccano character, where its quadrangular serifs are the protagonists of the slab style. Originally drawn in 1999 as a college project with the ambition to make the ‘most beautiful’ alphabet in the world. After these heroic beginnings Spaghetti lay dormant in the VLNL vaults for many years, appearing to silently peter away. Now look at it! Ten years hence, it is finally being served up in glorious OpenType, precisely al dente. As automated special sauce, each lowercase character before or after a space receives a nice little ball ending to round things off. And finally, the parmesan cheese sprinkled on top is like a tasty bunch of ligatures – enough to make your mouth water.

CoolKids was inspired by the song “Signs of Life” by Arcade Fire. Since the lyrics talk about some cool kids we wondered what a typeface with the name cool kids would look like. We immediately knew it had to be laid back yet bold and to stand out from the crowd. After designing the bold script we decided to include a light, regular and medium weight to offer you more options for your designs. It comes with initial and final alternates, that show up automatically, to make it feel more natural and similar to handwriting. Every character was carefully drawn and connections are real smooth. Lean and rhythmical, designed ideally to be used at less than 8 points (Brevier was the old typefounders’ name for 8-point type), Brevier holds up well even under adverse printing conditions. The apparently geometric letterforms hide Renaissance characteristics, the x-height and openings are very generous and the strokes slightly modulated. In order to offset ink spread – which is inevitable when printing very small sizes of type – Brevier has large white spaces between the letters. All internal angles have deep ink traps and many connections have been left open.
