Originally intended to adorn handkerchiefs, this simple pattern has so many design possibilities, from colorizing to formatting options. You can really play around with this monogram font! Peony Monogram can create one, two, or three letter monograms, even basic titling due to its unique design. Because of Peony's unique stackable monogram formatting, make certain that the point size of the font is the same as the leading being applied to the font in order to minimize gapping between stacked forms. The inspiration source for MFC Falconer Monogram is an unusual hand-drawn design from a vintage embroidery publication which relies on rigid geometric letterforms to create an upward stepping framework. This monogram which evokes visions of it embossed or printed on antique baking tins was originally intended to adorn handkerchiefs, but the possibilities of its use are up to your imagination. This is one of many monogram designs from the early 1900’s which fall into a two letter format that is either adorned or interwoven decorative elements. Designed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini and Andrea Tartarelli with Maria Chiara Fantini, Lovelace is Zetafonts homage to the tradition of nineteenth century “Old Style” typography - a revival of Renaissance hand-lettered shapes driven by the desire to create a less formal and more friendly alternative to Bodonian serifs. While taking inspiration from the letter shapes created by Pheimester or Alexander Kay - with their calligraphic curves and heavy angled serifs that influenced Benguiat and Goudy’s typefaces in the 70s - we also tried to add elegance and contrast by following another 19th century revival style: the Elzevir. This digital homage to victorian typography, aptly named after the algorist daughter of lord Byron, is developed in two optical sizes, both in a six weights range from extralight to extrabold. The text variant offers maximum readability thanks to the generous x-height and screen-friendly design, while the display variant excels in the sharp contrast and thin details needed for editorial and large-size titling use. The italics, strongly influenced by calligraphy, have been complemented with a display script family, including luscious swashes and connected lowercase letters, lovingly designed by Zetafont in-house calligrapher. Lumina combines a fluid, informal look with an upright, fairly formal character structure. The font is reminiscent of leaded or stained glass, suggesting a trying to-be-solid outline with flowing inner spaces. Characters are softened by the use of staggered heights and slightly irregular widths, creating the impression of hand-crafted, ink-drawn shapes. Lumina is unusual in that it gives a medieval treatment to a modern character outline. The outline has been given an irregular, slightly hand-crafted look that is at variance with its modern character and hints at both the informality of a grunge font and the carefully hand-drawn quality of medieval illuminated scripts (hence its name). It is one of the few informal, compressed fonts that retains a high degree of legibility. Use it when you want your text to be both relaxed and readable, and yet take up very little space on the page. Lumina Regular is not an outline font in the usual sense, since it contains one or more rounded hollows or lacunae within its outline. AwanZaman has a three-phase story, beginning with Dr Mamoun Sakkal’s two Arabic styles and culminating with Juliet Shen’s Latin extension. AwanZaman started as simply Awan, a commission for a modern, clean, monoline typeface for writing headlines and story titles in a forward-thinking Kuwaiti newspaper. Awan was based on the geometric forms of Kufic script, while in phase two, a second typeface (Zaman) was designed to add enough calligraphic Naskh details to make it easy to read in demanding newspaper settings. Together these two phases give the typeface a warm, familiar, and progressive look, as well as an explanatory two-part name — AwanZaman. Since most editorials use typical Naskh headline fonts with an exaggerated baseline, Awan’s rational forms immediately distinguish it as a modern and progressive voice in the crowded field of Arabic editorial typefaces. As the companion Arabic typeface, Zaman has the same basic proportions and forms as Awan, but with many cursive, energetic, and playful details. And since modern monoline fonts are increasingly being used to set extended texts, more features were borrowed from Naskh calligraphy to expand the typeface’s use from headlines into text setting. The alternates are not just clever in the way they look and how they echo the Arabic aesthetic, but also in harmonising the disparate languages and serving designers well when needing a balanced, bilingual text face with a warm and lively voice. AwanZaman is a clever, seven-weight powerhouse that makes extensive use of OpenType’s stylistic sets (20 in the Arabic and four in the Latin) so writers and designers can make the most of everything from a single glyph in display sizes down to dense text in paragraphs. As AwanZaman Arabic has no italic, neither does the Latin; contextual distinction normally handled by italics is achieved by exploiting the family’s seven weights.
