Plakato, a stencil love affair Plakato is a family of display fonts, consisting of various eye-catching styles, each of them very bold. Created in 2009 by V.H. Fleisher, Monod Brun is a geometric sans-serif typeface. The font has OpenType features that can be accessed in programs like the Adobe Creative Suite. These features include tabular lining figures, titling caps which are heavier & more loosely spaced than the regular caps, alternative punctuation marks, and arbitrary nut fractions (for single digit numerators & denominators). Minnesota Plaid is the baddest plaid ever! It may not be the choice pattern for golfers' slacks or bagpipers' kilts, but it has a City-like flavor with its own twist, a stylish ruggedness & toughness that could even be described as a sort of formal graffiti, thanks to the art deco swash of many of its strokes. It’s the kind of look that would be perfectly at home with hip hop or rap music, football and other sports, cars and trucks, power tools, and other manly, masculine usages. Sometimes the simplest ideas yield more than one result. The basic “dot matrix” design of aligned circles that was the basis for Transactive JNL also yielded Zera JNL (connected rings) and Pillow Puff JNL (fluffy and cloud-like lettering). One more design was originally cast aside. A separate file is available for filling in the letters with a colored background, however minute adjustments may be needed due to the fact that each drawing or design software program has its own characteristics and quirks. One of the first messy typewriter fonts to hit the market, Chandler 42 was compiled with forensic care from the voluminous output of a circa 1942 portable. Zeta was developed by Roy Cole, the British typographer and book designer. It is his second typeface family, completed in 2006, and comprises six fonts. Canadian designer Patrick Griffin made P22 Counter as an exercise in exploring the limits of counter-space and interchangeability between extremely geometric and standard calligraphic forms. When designing AM Sans One, it was a great challenge for me to develop a modern sans serif, which despite the large number of existing fonts in this sector has its own unique character. Starting point for the design concept was the cap O, designed as a rectangle with rounded corners, and not as usual as a circle or oval. The O should form the basis for the whole alphabet. Another feature are the characters with oblique starting and end strokes such as "A, V, W". These have not exactly straight, diagonal lines, but have a slight curvature. Thus, these letters do not look too geometric. Also the cap K deviates slightly from the usual shape which makes AM Sans One different from other already existing fonts. I could well imagine applying this font for areas such as engineering or architecture.

Roves is a font family dedicated to exploration, adventure and the early merchants of history. The word rove means “a journey, especially one with no specific destination; an act of wandering”. the family consists of three Stencil versions each with a Regular and Bold weight as well as two Sans versions each also with a regular and bold weight, this is a total of 10 different options to work with. Sunwind is not really made to write long copy. It is a font for shopsigns and short sentences that need that hot, sunny and windy touch. And that is how I got around to designing it: I saw some letters on a shopsign in Cannes when driving into town. I shouted at my son Julius: "Quick take a picture of that sign, the blue one." That's what he did, only he used the macro setting, so I had a very small sign but lots of nice background. Anyway I got the basic idea! Then I made a lot of sketches and this is what came out. I added a smallcaps set and I also made some initials as a rough version, so they look like written with a brush on heavygrain paper. Swinging that brush is yours truly Gert Wiescher

DM PopCap is the third typeface released by DM Founts. It was created to accompany a 2013 LEGO-based project, which itself was inspired by the music video for Scream by Michael and Janet Jackson. I had to create the typeface in order to make title cards, as no such typeface appeared to exist. Although the resulting typeface looks similar to the text appearing in the music video, I also set myself the challenge of creating the remaining characters of the alphabet, as well as others that some would find useful. As suggested by the music video, the typeface would be ideal for a futuristic or technological setting, particularly concerning space travel. In the project I had paired this typeface with Myriad Pro. As with my other offerings, this font is intended for use heading or standalone title use - but it also appears to work on its own for small paragraphs of text.

A few days ago, my good friend David from Hanoded.com visited me for a few days. We drank a lot of coffee and walked the streets of Copenhagen - we even took a trip up in Rundetårn! :) Well, on one of our walk (of course looking for inspiration for new fonts) we spotted this handmade sign. We agreed to make a font of the 7 letters available, using our own imagination and style! I called my font Mundbind DK and David named his Mundbind NL - of course it is the landcodes of Denmark and Holland. As you can tell, the font is uneven and somewhat unpredictable - following only the "rules" of the person who handprinted that sign ... and not many of the rules of the good old and respected painter who make beautiful signs ... however, this sign had it's beauty in a natural and innocent way.

It all started with the letter S. I drew it, I liked it, I based a font around it! This is Pickled Limes, a tall and narrow single-case font. It's built clean from the ground up, for ultra-sharp lines and corners, as well as super-smooth curves. In its heyday, the Starlight Room of the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City quite frequently printed lunch and dinner menus for not only their rotating bill of fare, but also for special events held there. The 1937 Electrolux (Eastern) Appreciation Banquet has its own menu cover, and the lettering was in a simple, yet Art-Deco influenced condensed block design with squared features. This simple and quirky typeface has been digitally redrawn as Sales Convention JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Valsity is a squarish slab-serif family with five weights and two widths, each with an italics for a total of twenty members. With negligible contrast, it is almost monoline. It is for decorative uses; it is too square and lacks the contrast to make it a good choice for extensive text. Valsity began with a blending of two other squarish slab-serifs, Valgal and Kwersity, and its name reflects that ancestry. From there it took on a life of its own, often diverging from its parents.

Golden Ticket is a digitization of hand-drawn poster lettering by Otto Heim from 1925. The regular style is meant to be used on its own, but the other three styles are meant to be used one on top of another in three different colors to create a 3D effect. For best results, put the base style on the bottom, with the fill style directly on top of that in a different color, and the highlight style directly on top of that in a third color.
