Thus were created the round or misshapen ends of the stems, and the sometimes excessively pointed ends of the hairlines. For each character of KLEX, the large brush was dipped in the ink anew. Using this method, the forms turned out very soft, in spite of their geometrical rigidity. The individual characters are heavy, simple, and monumental, so that they are also suitable as initials.

Tupã is a Brazilian indigienous god of thunder. This typeface is a geometric Sans Serif based on vertical and diagonal strokes. Ayita is a new sans serif design by Jim Ford and Steve Matteson. Ayita is a Cherokee name which translates to first in dance" and recalls the rhythm and flow of this new typeface. Georges Peignot designed Cochin based on copper engravings of the 18th century and Charles Malin cut the typeface in 1912 for the Paris foundry Deberny & Peignot. The font is named after the French engraver Charles Nicolas Cochin (1715–1790) although its style had little to do with that of the copper artist’s. The font displays a curious mix of style elements and could be placed as a part of the typographical Neorenaissance movement. Cochin is especially large and wide and was very popular at the beginning of the 20th century.

In the advertising industry, I was often asked to supply the art directors with ideas for a san serif type design that was not the standard Helvetica or Univers. Pritchard is the work of British designer Martin Wait, a capital, condensed sans serif font inspired by the geometric styles of the 1920s Soviet Constructivist movement. HERENGRACHT (Patricians' Canal or Lord’s Canal) is the first of the three major canals in the city centre of Amsterdam. The canal is named after the heren regeerders who governed the city in the 16th and 17th century. The most fashionable part is called the Golden Bend, with many double wide mansions, inner gardens and coach houses on Keizersgracht. Vicentina has been created starting from gothic cursive calligraphy, widely used in Italy during XIV century. The ductus of Vicentina has been derived from the documents redacted by Master Domenico Dominici from Vicenza, while most of the inspiration comes from books preserved in the archives of Orvieto Cathedral (Archivi dell'Opera del Duomo di Orvieto). As a result, Vicentina takes form with an elegant, but fast and simplified ductus respect to gothic graphs, rich in ligatures and with over 400 OpenType glyphs, in perfect harmony with the rules of readability of a modern typeface.

The sources of inspiration for the Atyp typeface are spread out widely both stylistically and chronologically.
