The name suggests it: the Chiq is based on a well-known system font from Apple's classic Mac OS operating system. By revamping and expanding good old “Chicago“, I want to make that 90s tech charm available for the future. The model consisted of just a single style and inspired me to create “Chiq Bold,” which later became the starting point for the entire font family. The shapes of the Chiq are constructed according to a very simple principle. The contrast of stems and hairlines becomes more pronounced towards the bolder cuts. A few basic shapes form the framework for all characters. The shapes are very regular and sometimes form somewhat unusual figures, which has a negative effect on readability and makes the font rather unsuitable for long passages of text, but results in a very even typeface. This is particularly true for the extra-wide “UltraExpanded,” which is so wide that you can no longer recognize word images but literally have to spell them out. In this way, words are turned into letter bands with a great decorative effect. With variants from “Light” to “Black”, from “Normal” to “Ultra Expanded” and the italics, Chiq reaches beyond its archetype. This opens up a wide range of uses. It is even clearer, even more sober, and to a certain extent speaks an even more modern formal language. Chiq is also a variable font!

We made this font without too much swashy efefct on the letterform. Just gave it two bold ripple floral effect at the tail is enough. Yumo is a new, textured remix of the original 2010 Yume typeface, and has plenty to offer of its own. Sutro Deluxe is a bold slab serif with a double drop shadow. It was originally conceived as a simple black and white display alphabet. But it seemed unfinished, begging for something more. I decided to try adding a couple layers of fill and detail to try and make it interesting. The result is this five-layer chromatic font family. The Primary Font is the Main Font. The other fonts ( Fill, Inline Fill, Inline and Shaded Inline) only exist to support the Primary Font.There is some color trapping going on.To make sure you are laying the fonts on top of one another in the optimum order, I recommend the free PDF User Manual. These are the letters I doodled in the margins of my high school notebooks. As it turns out, a man named Milt Glaser doodled them first. He doodled a lot of other amazing things too. Mr. Glaser called his blocky alphabet Baby Teeth. I think the type looks better when it says Surfside, so that's what I called my incarnation. This version has been digitized and expanded, and is available for Mac and PC. These letters remind me of the 80s and the 90s, of Gotcha shorts, Ocean Pacific shirts and fluorescent windbreakers. Kuroneko in Japanese means ‘ Black Cat’. I was working on a Japan itinerary for a friend and I told him about the luggage forwarding service by a company with a black cat in its logo. Wait: Black Cat? What’s that in Japanese? Cool name for a font! Kuroneko font will not forward your luggage, nor was it made in Japan. But it IS a very versatile font family - even if you’re more of a dog person.

Back to the past when the old building and the beauty of a old store decorated by distinctive signage. With a clear feels of authentic historical value and the today's needs must be balanced in order to create the nostalgic feels. Dealers is a development of the classic taste wood type to form a solid blocked shapes, modern serifs, and with all caps based characters and slightly condensed. FS Rosa is a free-spirited and optimistic serif typeface – reminiscent of those used on fanzines, film sequences and book covers of the 1970s, such as Cooper and Windsor, it has a laid-back nature with a touch of rebellion. It also reminds of type used in colourful protest graphics by nun-turned-designer Corita Kent, and its personality is akin with brands like Whole Foods - positive rather than preachy. Pantoufle is French for slipper. Not the flipflop variety (or thongs if you’re from Australia), but the one you wear indoors when it’s cold. I have some too; Spanish ones, made from recycled PET bottles. Here in Holland, we call them ‘Pantoffels’ and you don’t have to be a language expert to see the resemblance between the French and the Dutch word. That is because the French are probably more savvy when it comes to keeping your feet warm and the Dutch just borrowed the word, pronunciation and all! Pantoufle is a font I made with a big fat marker pen. My kids had used it to decorate some gifts for Sinterklaas (if you want to know what Sinterklaas is, look it up). Pantoufle comes with extensive language support and a full set of alternates for the lower case glyphs. Enjoy!
