Mirabel is based on the handwriting of Beverly Bouwsma (Philip's mother), which she developed in the 1930s in, as she puts it, an act of teenage rebellion. In the 1960s, Philip gave her a broad-edged Osmiroid fountain pen which she took to immediately and has used ever since, along with the computer fonts he made from her script. Since Beverly Bouwsma mixed loops and straight ascenders, two interchangeable fonts have emerged, a formal package that sacrifices some flamboyance for classical balance and legibility, but retains the quality of the writing and celebrates the personality of its creator. The Mirabel fonts are available in all popular font formats, and the character sets cover a wide range of codepages, including Central and Eastern European languages, Esperanto, Turkish, Baltic, Celtic/Welsh.

Goudy Forum is a revival and dramatic expansion by Tom Rickner, type designer at Ascender Corporation, of Frederic W. Goudy’s 20th typeface design, "Forum Title". The Pro font began twenty years ago while Tom Rickner was a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Tom printed a type specimen using the Forum Title foundry hot metal types. Then in 1993 Tom began to digitize the font from that specimen while working as an independent type designer. Fifteen years passed before Tom dusted off the digital data and began working in earnest on font with a full Latin 1 character set. Steve Matteson, type director at Ascender, encouraged Tom to take this font further still, and soon the glyph repertoire and feature set blossomed to a robust Pro font with a myriad of advanced typographic OpenType features.

Elegant and easy to use serif font family with contrast in vertical and horizontal strokes. Its variety of weights provides a range of choices that will help you to find the best typographic look. Use all caps to get the classic serif look, like Didones, or use it normally for a playful serif look. This family is inspired from the set of two styles, Roman normal and Italic, and the ornaments used by an unknown printer working around East Switzerland, circa 1750's. It is a Dutch style font, slightly bolder than usual Fournier's or Caslon's Roman fonts, with some emphasized serifs and finals parts and special letters as capital "U" for example. A set of initials, fleurons, ornaments and frame elements is joined to the family as a supplement. The two styles, Normal and Italic, are containing standard ligatures, a few alternative characters and titlings (who are more preferable than enlarged capitals). Noyh is a modern geometric font family that is based on research of similar typefaces of the 1990s and 2000s. Based on that research, font designer Chatnarong Jingsuphatada created a design whose main purpose is to perform equally well in as many environments as possible. Noyh offers a geometric structure with smooth corners, giving it great legibility and making it clean and friendly. As a result, Noyh works well both in print and on screen; it can be used freely for e-books and mobile applications and is perfect for headlines, banners, posters, web-sites, magazines, etc. Perhaps the greatest advantage of Noyh is the stunning number of fonts it includes. Quavo is a round sans font family, including regular and oblique font styles. Round corner of letters show the soft and friendly vibe and some letters for instance: letter a, b and d, they all have a tail at the end. It's sort of personal preference, for I want to add some ornamental elements in this font. Quavo can be applied in lots of areas. Inspired by a former Hermann Zapf design, Hanse Textura was completely redrawn and redesigned as an English-style blackletter font with a calligraphic touch. It comes also with the historical long s which can be reached either by typing [alt] + b or by using the OT feature historical forms. I strongly recommend to activate both OT features, standard and discretionary, to access all ligatures built in the font. The keys pi and product are occupied with beautiful border elements.

The Wright-Regan Instrument Company (Wrico) was one of the leading manufacturers of lettering templates for many years. Aside from their own line of products, they also did custom manufacturing. A series of lettering guides called “Mimeostyle” for the A. B. Dick Company of Chicago (produced for use in making mimeograph machine printing stencils) featured an art Deco squared letter design with rounded corners. This is now available digitally as Template Sans JNL, in both regular and oblique versions.

The image of a set of vintage French tin stencils spotted online was the starting point in designing Freight Yard Stencil JNL. A more traditional ‘B’ and ‘R’ replaces the original characters (which looked kind of awkward due to extra ‘stencil breaks’ within the letters). However, there are a few interesting variants in other characters to set the design apart from similar stencil fonts. Work Yard Stencil JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

TypeAddiction presents “Gaufre de Bruxelles”, a playful handmade uppercase font. Lowercase letters have filled letters (A, B, D, O etc) and the uppercase letters have unfilled letters. "Gaufre de Bruxelles" means a Brussels waffle in English. The Brussels waffle is a rectangular-shaped waffle and is a Belgian culinary speciality. The characters of the font were inspired by the waffle dough and more specifically the shape that the dough takes when it is poured into the waffle iron.

From the title on the sheet music for the 1935 composition "Along Tobacco Road" comes Deco Triline JNL in both regular and oblique versions. Reminiscent of Broadway if done as a neon sign, this typeface virtually shouts about the Manhattan nightlife of the 1930s. For maximum readability, space the letters a bit wider than normal.

Fette Gotisch font is an interpretation of Gothic scripts in the style of the 19th century. During this time, the individualistics handwritings of the past were used to create and define new broken letter forms. This style has heavily influenced the designs of the majority of today's broken letter fonts. The strong appearance of Fette Gotisch made it popular as a typeface for emphasizing text.

Simeon's Handwritten Blackletter is the result of my desire to have my handwritten old English style writing available for my computer. It is a basic Gothic style font with my own touch to the lettering. Simeon's Handwritten Blackletter comes with full punctuation, a character set for most Western European based Latin alphabet languages. Being a decorative font, it works best at larger point sizes.

Codex was designed by Georg Trump and introduced by the font foundry C.E. Weber in 1954. Based on the German Gothic script of the 13th century, this font has the character of handwriting. Its capital letters are extremely big in comparison with the lower case, hence good for contrast in short text, however, this characteristic makes the font better suited to languages which use fewer capital letters.

Two typefaces from the 1923 Barnhart Brothers & Spindler specimen book have been combined to produce this gem. Swagger Capitals, designed by Carl S. Junge, for the uppercase and Gothic Novelty Title for the lowercase. Named for a lively dance from the nineteenth century. Both versions of this font contain the Unicode 1252 Latin and Unicode 1250 Central European character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

Beckinslade is a lovely elaborate blackletter face, released just in time for Christmas, but useable at any time of the year. It is in the best traditions of Victorian Gothic revival, drawing inspiration from a range of sources and marrying them into one homogenous whole. The emphasis is on aesthetics rather than historical accuracy. Great fun though for anywhere ‘ye olde’ look is desired.
