Frenzy evolved from a logo for a Gen X product offered by a very staid company. It is a sythesis of Classic Roman Capitals and American Typewriter—with a bit of frenetic energy stirred in. It is dedicated to the designers son, who is the epitome of the font... contained chaos.

Here is a faithful rendering of Pracht Antiqua Schmallfett , designed by Carl Pracht for Nordd. Schriftgießerei in 1942. Its graceful curves and tight fit make it a natural for commanding yet cuddly headlines. Both versions of the font contain the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Glypha was designed by Adrian Frutiger and appeared with D. Stempel AG in 1977. The font consists of ten cuts and is formally based on its predecessor, Serifa, although its lower case letters are a bit larger. Like Serifa, Glypha is also based on the general scheme used to design Univers.

When reading text, the most informative parts of the written word for a human brain to identify, are the top and bottom edges of each word, and to a lesser degree, the leading and trailing edges. The overall shape has more useful info than the inner workings of each word. DT Enigmystic, is a display font family that gives you just that. The outer edge. At first glance, these letters don't look like standard letters, and yet, they are perfectly readable. And it is a 'somewhat' smart text, in that it will automatically complete the trailing edge of every word, whenever it sees a comma, period or space. Similarly, it will automatically complete the leading edge of every word following a space. When used as display test or as a heading, the first letter will need to be preceeded by a space, to achieve a full enclosed word outline. As with most of my fonts, do use Contextual Ligatures. This allows the letters to come alive. When generated here on this webpage, contextual ligatures are not turned on, and so the words do not appear completely closed at their beginnings and ends. But as can be seen in the poster images, these outlined words do automatically complete themselves when contextual ligatures are active.

Thick, ballooned chunks, strung together by thinner sections, Kerndog looks as if it's been constructed from flexible corn dogs. Perfect for kid stuff and unusual advertising needs. Kerndog is legible at most sizes, but best when used large so the thick and thin combination is visible.

Himawari means ‘Sunflower’ in Japanese. It was raining while I worked on this font, so I needly something to cheer me up - like bright yellow sunflowers! Himawari Script is a nice and neat handmade font, which was (more or less) inspired by an older font of mine, called mama Bear and, like the font it was modeled on, was made with a bamboo pen and Chinese ink. Himawari Script comes with some swashes and a cute smiling sunflower (just enable Stylistic Alternates and hit *).

The original sheet music for Ted (Is Everybody Happy?) Lewis’ signature tune, When My Baby Smiles at Me, inspired this whimsical wonder. The sheet music was discovered in the Library of Congress American Memory Collection, an incredible online resource. The typeface gets its name from a slightly loony early 1900s comic strip by Fontaine Fox. This new and improved version has beefed-up outlines, so it renders well even at smaller sizes. Both versions contain the complete Unicode 1252 (Latin) and Unicode 1250 (Central European) character sets, with localization for Romanian and Moldovan.

When I first saw the scrapbook pages of Danielle Paradis, I was immediately struck by the funky-cool distinction of her handwriting style. Salom was designed by Austrian type designer Igor Labudovic during his year at Reading University. Besides Latin, it originally included Arabic and Hebrew. The peaceful coexistence of both writing systems in his fonts led him to combine the words Salaam and Shalom to the font family name. Salom’s sibling, Salom Sans, features the same letter proportions and therefore allows a rich spectrum of diverse typography, yet keeping the harmony between all styles. The inspiration for this font (as well as the name!) comes from a London cafe I visited years ago. I was fascinated with the handwritten menu - irregular and awkward, yet refreshingly charming. I did my best to recall that particular look by adding 4 slightly different versions of each lowercase letter. The name of the font comes from the speed of the waiter...or the lack of it! But luckily he took his time, otherwise I wouldn't have had the time to really look at the handwritten menu! :)

Racetrack is the work of American type designer, Alex Kaczun, and was conceived as a result of developing a logo for a client. Alex was experimenting with a uniform grid pattern, outline and inline, connecting the dots which lead to this interesting typeface effect.
