Metron is so far the most ambitious typeface made to order in the Czech Republic. Despite the fact that for a number of years it has not been used for the purpose for which it was designed, every inhabitant of Prague is still well aware of its typical features. Metron Pro was commissioned by the Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague in 1970 to be used in the information system of the Prague Metro. It was first published in the manual of the Metroprojekt company in 1973 and then used to the full, under the author’s supervision, for lines “A” and “C”. Since 1985 Rathouský's system has been disappearing from the Prague Metro; it survives only in the form of metal letters at its stations and at some stations of the Czechoslovak Railways. In 2014 we're mentioning the 90th birthday of Jiří Rathouský. It’s a good opportunity for updating and re-introducing his Metron. Extended was the choice of figures and fractions, new currency signs added, diacritics revised, etc., but above all the newly designed Cyrillics including true SmallCaps. Now we have six weights plus italics, where the tone of the basic style is even closer to the original. Ten years back we've had the feeling that this typeface should again take a part of Prague’s traffic system and today, when revisiting of all the fonts, the feeling turned to certainty. The main feature of this typeface is namely a noticeability a property above all welcomed in rush of platforms.

Sardines is a project by Jacques Le Bailly aka Baron von Fonthausen. It first saw the light as a student project for a monospaced font and eventually grew into Vette Letters’ largest font family. We saw its potential and expect it to be a million seller, just like our other typefaces. VLNL Sardines comes in 42 different variations, like rough and clean cuts, regular and condensed widths (condensed is the exactly half of the regular width). Sardines is an eclectic mash of classic curves and mathematical measurements, leaving a very distinct typographic flavor. While most of our type is market-fresh, this one comes out of the can, but it’s delicious nonetheless. And it’s great for adventurous BBQ-ing!

The name is an atrocity, I don't remember what was on my mind, when I decided on that name, but after 25 years it is to late to change, so I have to stick with it. I have recently gone over the script and changed a little stroke here, a curve there and I added Small-Caps. The font is very useful for all kinds of signs, that have to look spontaneous. The Swiss typewriters were famous for their unique precision. As complex digitalizations and macro shots were a start for the inspiration and studies, each character has been carefully re-crafted from the ultra high def scans of the printouts made on a special bleed-proof paper. Today’s characters such as @, euro sign and most of accents have been crafted according the original alphabet design. The idea was to digitize and keep a saving of the original typewriter including all its functions (e.g. underlining key) . It’s surprisingly very legible at small sizes. Thanks to an x-height tighter and more spaced, a glyph design less detailed and more neutral/simple than other fonts found on american or italian typewriters. The final artwork can be set at very large sizes due to the highly detailed glyph design. Swissa Piccola Regular is loaded with more than 150 glyphs created with the typewriter to avoid letter repetition in a word. This OpenType feature can be accessed through the 'discretionary ligatures' option. Plus it comes with two stylistic sets : one with an original underlining feature, another with a slashed-x feature. In which all characters are unique and also have been originally typed with the typewriter. It contains more 600 glyphs in total. The two features are separated in another two fonts (Swissa Piccola Slashed x and Underlined) in case a non OT-savvy app is used. Adelphi is a geometric sans, redefined for the northern side of the English Channel. Typographic modernism was a late arrival in Britain — due partly to the Second World War and to the strong local type tradition. This delay provided for fruitful divergence, thus modernism was not adored in quite the same way as it had been in Germany and central Europe. It was instead rethought and repurposed against the backdrop of the bleak British weather and postwar social reform – a continental fashion statement reshaped into a more humanist variant. Likewise, when crafting Adelphi, Nick Job reimagined the constraints that defined the geometric sans as a genre. Whereas other typefaces seem overly bound by the rules, Adelphi feels relaxed and approachable. Elementary square and circular shapes are merely implied. A keen observer may notice that the uncomplicated letterforms occasionally reveal a subtle naïveté associated with early Grotesques. Brunel’s bridges and Harry Beck’s tube map spring to mind alongside the Bauhaus and Futura. But Adelphi is by no means nostalgic! It is a contemporary, comprehensive, and durable system with a pragmatic set of features. These include a wide array of weights, ‘uniwidth italics’, and variable extenders that go from tall and flat in Adelphi Text to short and sharp in Adelphi Display, with default Adelphi standing midway between these two extremes. You can set the extenders to your preference in the all-inclusive variable font or use one of the three static fonts that come packed together, priced as a single font. FranklinGothicHandCond is another part of a series of hand-drawn fonts from way back in time – before computers changed the way we worked in advertising. When I was in advertising – before computers – a very time consuming part of my daily work was sketching headlines. I used to be able to sketch headlines in Franklin Gothic, Times, Futura, Helvetica and several scripts. We had a kind of huge inverted camera – which we called Lucy. We projected the alphabet onto a sheet of transparent paper, outlined the letters with a fineliner and then filled them in. The Distillery Set is a collection of 5 fonts: Display, Strong, Script, Caps, and Icons. The fonts' influences are in lettering from different eras and styles. They reflect forms from the Arts & Crafts movement, the Roman majuscules, artistic printing, traditional tattoo lettering, sing painting and showcards from the early XX century and some typography trends started from 1970s America and being used today like chalkboard art or handmade labels in packaging. This is collection of fonts that strongly hints of the spontaneous ways of pencil on paper, the dynamic rebellion and simultaneous imperfection and elegance of DIY. This set contains a wide range of characters, including alternates, ligatures, variations on ascenders and descenders, initials and terminals, icons and ornaments, providing endless application possibilities. The different fonts can be used individually, but of course it is their combination in use that creates the magic. The Distillery Set was designed by young talent Carolina Marando. Alejandro Paul produced and expanded the digital work.

Dutch Mediaeval Book ST is a special version of the popular Dutch Mediaeval Book text fonts, engineered specifically for science writing. It is equipped with SciType, a combination of additional characters and OpenType programming included in the fonts to help in typesetting science text. For more information about SciType, please consult the SciType FAQ available in the Gallery section of this page. The Dutch Mediæval design is the historically renowned one made in 1912 by S. H. de Roos. It stands out as one of the most classic Dutch text faces. This Book version comes in two weights and an italic, optimized for body copy use between 8 and 12 pt. Aside from the SciType additions, all the fonts contain OpenType features for ligatures, ordinals, automatic fractions, eight kinds of figures, and a few ornaments. In older American slang, a "bum steer" is a bad tip, some bad advice or being sent in the wrong direction (to name a few examples). Bum Steer JNL was modeled from some playful hand lettering found on a piece of early 20th Century sheet music entitled "When Uncle Joe Plays a Rag on His Old Banjo". It's very possible that "Hobo" (a popular type design of the time) was a strong influence on the sheet music's style of title lettering. It seems that songwriters in those bygone days were prone to cramming as many words from a line of their song into the title itself. Another such example of a wordy song title which coincidently is in keeping with the theme of a "bum steer" (pun intended) is a novelty number from 1915: "Cows May Come and Cows May Go but the Bull Goes on Forever" (words by Vincent Bryan, music by Harry Von Tilzer).
