PiS Creatinin pro is based on a vintage ABC learning game for kids found in my grandparents attic. The narrow and high hand-drawn letters combine delicacy and chunkyness in a wonderful way, so it can be used both in huge display sizes and in small text sizes. I made Cut Along by stealing some red cardboard from my kids (red, because they didn’t have any black…) and cutting out the glyphs one by one with a pair of scissors. I then pasted the shapes onto white paper, scanned them and turned them into a font. Cut Along is a very nice font for ads, book covers, packaging and children’s books. Enjoy!

Gawain Douglas was my co-worker and eventually my boss when I worked for the Tucson Citizen. He’s director of production and design for a children’s book publisher now, a very talented and creative guy and Gawain’s Hand is what his writing looks like. A shame, isn’t it? Just kidding, Gawain; I wouldn’t have featured it, if I hadn’t liked it. Really. No, really. :-)

This is a hand drawn quick-sketch font. I wanted to create a high contrast serif in a cartoonish, kid style. It contains basic latin western and central european language extensions and accents. Looks natural and playful, and really nice on chalkboard texture as you can see on the example above. It comes with the classic default ligatures of fi, fl, ffi and ffl.

African Patchwork was inspired by my observation that many traditional African patterns have strong similarities to the patterns of the American quilting tradition. I chose one of the patterns from the African Pattern Font 04 - Mali (based on traditional bogolan mud cloth designs) that reminded me of quilting patterns and superimposed it onto the Zim Black characters, to create a fusion of African and American design.

Tektype has been designed as a one weight display don't font which makes it simple and easy to use, it has been specifically created for the designer to do very little customisation. Tektype has additional alternates which makes it versatile in use. Create Logos and unique identities, aimed at the tech industry this font can create a slick look and feel to any branding.

I keep chickens for eggs and meat, but the ones that have names cannot be eaten. ;-) As I was busy working on this font, the chickens were sitting in the window, looking at me and hoping they'd get a treat! Pecking Order is a cartoon and kids font. It comes with a wholesome, homemade goodness and extensive language support, including Sami, Greek and Vietnamese.

Flex Rounded display typeface was designed in 2000 by Vladimir Pavlikov as alternative 'soft' variant to the original Flox face. In contrast to Flox there are rounded stroke ends and curved shapes in most of Flex characters. The project was aimed to create a decorative vivid alphabet of geometric shapes. Cyrillic was developed in 2005. For use in advertising and display typography. Licensed by ParaType in 2005.

Garnet as a modern font kit inspired by fonts and calligraphy of XX centure. It includes Capitals (6 Styles) and Script so you can combine them as you like. Geometric Sans + Handwritten Script is a modern and fresh looking combination which can be used for many tasks. Garnet is good for headlines, posters, packaging, book covers, cards and as a starting point for logotypes.

I have actually never had a sherbet. When I made this font family, I wish I had one, as it was a whopping 38 degrees (Celsius, not Fahrenheit…) outside. Raspberry Sherbet is a cute little font family, consisting of a rounded fat kids font and an inline version. Comes with all the bells & whistles, plus a super duper cooling effect when you use it!

Pochoir is a sweet stencil antiqua typeface with round and thick serifs. Once, on a university trip to Paris, Yanone saw some spray-stencil street art. This inspired him to redraw Underware’s Dolly (with permission) in a spray-stencil style, making many adjustments to weight and character shapes to bring about Pochoir. The art form of stencils have first appeared in Paris in the 1980s.

Mufan is a Typeface project with a simple concept that wants to emphasize readability and can be used in almost anything. Through this idea we made it in 3 styles, textured, rough and clean aiming to give the impression of handwriting, retro, vintage and modern. To make it work well in various design conditions. Mufan comes with 260 Glyphs, has support for OpenType features, and has been specially designed to work well in uppercase only, lowercase only, or in sentences, and titles. My eldest son Sam always wanted to visit Japan and he has been saving up for a ticket for years now. We should have traveled there this year, but due to the pandemic, that was impossible. We’re now trying to go next year. Sam and I did make some kind of itinerary and I told him how we were going to get around, as I have been to Japan many times. I told him about the Shinkansen trains, the cute Tram in Nagasaki and the immense subway system in Tokyo. One of the lines in Tokyo is the so-called Yamanote Circle Line, which I have used on numerous occasions. A new font name was born and it stuck to this particular font! Subway Circle is a 100% handmade font. It is rounded, slightly slanted and comes with a sunny disposition. I am sure that, when you use it, you will find your 生きがい… ;-)

The inspiration source for Semicirculus Monogram is a stylish sans serif letterset from a vintage embroidery publication which combines to create a semi-circular form monogram. Originally intended to adorn handkerchiefs, it has so many other possibilities. Ornaments from numerous antique specimen books were combined with the letter set to accent and complete its form. This is one of many monogram designs for the early 1900s which fall into a two letter format that is either adorned or interwoven with ornamentation. Grafista is an extrapolation on what fonts are used for: in spite of the possibility to use it for setting text, Grafista strives when used as a texture library, the same way that one would set up tiles. Thus, Grafista was built as two different things compiled in the same font: the letterforms (for setting text) and the texture library. Both of the sets are monospaced (with every glyph having the same width), but the letterforms are half of the texture tiles' width. In 1905 Berthold released an engraved blackletter font called Prinzess Kupferstichschrift. Based on an old printed remnant, I revived this beautiful open-face fraktur and enriched it with several OpenType features. As usual in my blackletter fonts, the round ‘s’ lies on the number sign key, and a traditional number sign can be accessed via the Discretionary Ligature feature and typing 'N-r-period'. In this font you have also the possibility to turn I, V, X, L, C, D, and M into Roman numerals by activating the Stylistic Alternates feature. And last but not least, various useful ligatures polish up this font.

Rever is an experimental typeface by a young designer Sasha Smirnov. It clearly alludes to 19th century typefaces with reverse contrast, but still the character shapes are as simple and geometric as possible. Rever answers the question “What can a reverse-contrast typeface look like today?” Its set of styles is non-traditional: in addition to a regular one, there are also an oblique (slanted to the left, not to the right!) and a stencil styles. This typeface is inspired by the powerful political and social posters by Paul Peter Piech, a tireless artist and printer. Please Note: as this is a picture-only font, there are no latin alpha/numeric glyphs. Each wood type manufacturer had their own selection of original Logotypes or Catchwords designs. These are taken right from the original source material, an extremely rare 1910 catalog of an English wood type maker called Day & Collins in London. As the name says it, these words are intended to attract attention, to spice up posters, packaging or advertisement designs. I made these available for the digital age, leaving the original texture of printed wood type at the highest detail possible.
