Smooth and shapely without a trace of fat. A seductively handsome devil without the attitude. This typeface wears a tie at the office, but keeps a pair of sneakers and a beach volleyball in the car. IronType (formerly known as Ironman) is an extra bold geometric titling face in the Art Deco poster tradition. A warm sense of strength and playfulness runs throughout this design. Triangular-shaped crossbars are some of its distinguishing characteristics. The face also contains some very amusing alternates. The tails of the alternate cap K and R extend below the line and the alternate cap N has a hump instead of a diagonal stroke. This steam era typeface, created by Gustav Schroeder in 1884, found popular use on soap box labels and tobacco tins during its initial release. Then, later, a successful and stout revival of Gustav's face, named Othello, was carried out by Morris Fuller Benton in 1934, and the typeface's appeal widened to include items such as broadside posters featuring Boris Karloff's Frankenstein. After metal gave way to film type, Gustav's creation experienced a brief fashion moment in the 1960's, but then disappeared entirely, never re-surfacing as a full digital typeface. With the release of Bathysphere, the typeface comes full circle, having been completely redrawn from scratch using Gustav's original specimens. The new extended language support establishes the typeface firmly in the modern era, while Bathysphere's refinement of subtle blunt corners restores a deep-sea grace to this iron giant.

This rough font, was created inspired from a lot of various european documents dated from the end of 1600's. We were in search of a hand to accompany with "The Treasure Island" novel by R.L. Stevenson, and this seems to be the good one. It is a "Pro" font containing Western (including Celtic) and Northern European, Icelandic, Baltic, Eastern, Central European and Turquish diacritics. We have also included a few old English specific abbreviations. The numerous alternates (four sorts of standard lowercases and two sets of capitals) and numerous ligatures allow to made the font looking like a real various hand. Using an OTF software, the features allow to vary each character without anything to do but to select contextual alternates and standard ligatures and/or stylistic alternates options. The "Ru" version is a supplementary choice, offering Russian Cyrillics.

Plumper than a misguided Z-lister's dodgy lip job, this is Quinella, named after the cheffy scoops of ice cream and the like, quinelles. It's a cute, fat script with a seventies vibe but a personality all of its own. It's non-connecting in the usual sense, but the letters overlap to make the white space as tiny as possible. Ligatures (standard and discretionary) make smoother solutions for quite a few pairs and trios, and every upper case letter has a more exuberant swash alternate. The contextual alternates feature substitutes in an alternate t for a better fit with certain letters. Fonts don't come much more voluptuous than this. The full-fat, creamy appearance makes it perfect for food packaging, but don't let it end there; it'll make memorable logos, unmissable headlines, and posters with more punch.

Surfoid is a bold, soft, hazy, lazy and sleepy font-dude that is most happy under an umbrella at the beach holding a drink with an umbrella in the glass. It’s fun, fun, fun until daddy takes the T-Bird away because of the problems that too much fun creates. It’s a rounded off, a little blurry on the lazy edges and would never want to be a serif font. Wood Type Grotesk JNL was re-drawn from a set of vintage wood type purchased from a closed rubber stamp shop. Although the style of lettering is referred to in old type catalogs as a "grotesk" face, in truth the lettering has charm and effectively gets the printed point across to the reader. This typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Bold Display Sans JNL is loosely based on one of the classic alphabets found within a Speedball Lettering Textbook of the 1940s; itself called "Bold Display". The original featured a stippled texture and inline curves placed in random patterns throughout the letters. This more simplified, all-caps version is for titling requirements where a strong, yet casual design is needed.

The unmistakable hand of Angel Koziupa and the technical expertise of Alejandro Paul brings us once more the kind of calligraphy that reads softly yet commands attention. This time around, Angel's statement adds a slightly coarse and rusty aura to the usual elegance, which makes Oxida an indispensable typeface for use at large sizes, particularly in poster design, book covers and culinary packaging.

William Caslon established the first major English typefoundry, re-creating earlier Dutch designs with excellent craftsmanship, color and rhythm. Caslon Old Face is one of many faithful revivals; the original matrices (from many hands; the lowercase of the 48 point is Moxon’s 1669 Great Canon) survive at Stephenson Blake. George Ostrochulski adapted this design for photocomposition at Mergenthaler with skill and understanding.

Longing is a modern, sans-serif typeface with floral ornaments. It was supposed to have a smart and elegant style and to have a good readability. Fruehling, first released by the Klingspor Brothers foundry in 1914, is a rather calligraphic blackletter font designed by Rudolf Koch. This font was completely redrawn and redesigned for contemporary usage. The font comes with old-style figures, and the letters d, e, g, n, and t have swash variants. It is recommended to use also the OT feature Discretionary Ligatures.

Awkward Gothic JNL gets its name from the fact that it's a non-conformist alphabet - as if rendered by hand by a school child or an amateur lettering artist. A 1940s-era book from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers entitled "Topographic Drafting" features a page for "lettering construction and spacing" in the process of map making. The letters and numbers were formed on grids using that mechanical drafting process for uniformity in stroke width. This was the basis for Topographic Sans JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

PT Bazhanov™ was designed at Polygraphmash type design bureau in 1961 by Michael Rovensky (1902-1996). Based on the lettering by Moscow book designer Dmitry Bazhanov (1902-1945). Old-fashioned flavor of this design recreates the Soviet hand-lettering style of the 1940s. For use in title and display typography. The digital version was developed for ParaType in 2001 by Lyubov Kuznetsova.

Making some Star Wars stuff? This Aurebesh font is designed to look like something you would see on a piece of quick and dirty graphic design in the Star Wars universe, like a wanted poster or a warning sign. The font includes the additional Aurebesh glyphs beyond the 26 basic characters (all in lowercase & uppercase) as well as numbers and symbols.

DF-Stromboli doesn’t look like it but in fact it is a script typeface. It was written with a coffee spoon, acting like a broad pen, in the ashes of the Stromboli volcano right on top of a scanner. This typeface evokes orientation and fear, the dichotomy of Stromboli’s personification. A tribute to il faro del mediterraneo: the mediterranean lighthouse.

This font started life in 1893 at the Boston Type Foundry, but was also cast at the Central Type Foundry. Both were members of the ATF combine formed in 1892. Like so many interesting fonts of its day, it was issued without a lowercase, limiting its use to display headlines. Sometime in the early 1990s, we designed a lowercase to go with it.

Index is a sans serif font which gives an impression of both movement and harmony. The soft, round forms of this font give it an almost ornamental feel. The influence of American advertisement and poster typefaces of the turn of the 20th century is apparent. Index can be used as a headline or text font in small or larger point sizes.

The inspiration for this typeface—originally called Elefanta—enjoyed popularity stateside in the late nineteenth century, an import from the Karl Brendler & Söhne foundry of Vienna. Its graceful yet playful elegance makes it suited for a wide range of projects where projecting warmth is desirable. Both versions contain the complete Latin 1252, Central European 1250 and Turkish 1254 character sets.

Par Avion's design draws something of its inspiration from the wings of the old BSA Motorcycles logo and was developed in parallel with our Vinea typeface family. “Par Avion” means ‘By Air’ - remember those little blue stickers in the Post Office - for sending Air Mail? We think this typeface design has a lovely streamlined feel of the early jet-era about it.

Synopsis draws inspiration on the classic proportions and letterforms of old romans. In addition to this a new modern twist has been infused to it, giving it a dimensional double stroke or virtual inline that makes the round parts twist in and out. Specially gorgeous in big sizes it brings the best from the past merging it with new ideas.

This font was made possible by creating a custom brush in Illustrator. I started with a flat brush dipped in India ink to create the stroke. From a scan of that stroke I made a vector tracing which I then I altered as necessary to get the desired dimensions. The lower case letters have a thinner stroke than the capitals.

Show Card Deco JNL is a hybrid of examples from hand lettered titles found on various song folios from the Carl Fischer Music Library circa the 1930s and is available in both regular and oblique versions. This particular typeface lends itself perfectly to show cards, posters, headlines and display titling which captures the modern, streamlined design of the Art Deco era.

Here's a clean, simple architectural-blueprint style, eminently suitable for subheads and text blocks. Inspired by and named for a gentlewoman who gave up a career as an architect in Bolivia to care for the elderly in the United States. All versions of this font include the Unicode 1250 Central European character set in addition to the standard Unicode 1252 Latin set.
