There were many inspirations for Sabor, but all started with a book from the 1950s about the battles of World War II. To that first sketches of a naive dense display typeface we, day by day, start to create a mixed style evolving some lettering concepts from 1950s, some calligraphy notions and the first display ideas. The feeling of this font is good to be used in many artworks, like logos, packaging, party invitations, layouts for t-shirts, magazine headings, and much more, since websites to and all kind of printed jobs. That font is not really a script, but, like the scripts we strongly recommends to use the caps only in the beginning of words and sentences, to contrast with the lower cases : it’s not designed for all-caps settings, so avoid that kind of use. The idea for Gilman started simple enough, a serif typeface that works well for large amounts of text. However, after many struggles creating a quality typeface digitally, I decided to first draw the complete alphabet by hand on paper, and then trace that digitally. Fungis is a somewhat �brother� of Fungia. These two typefaces were conceived simultaneously as an experiment on designing typeface based on natural shapes. In both cases it was mushrooms. Journeyman is an all caps layered display typeface in the sign painter tradition. It has normal width caps in lowercase position and a wider caps in uppercase position. Letters in lowercase position are slightly more rounded than those in uppercase position thus providing two styles. Journeyman supports languages with latin characters and ligatures as well as Greek and Cyrillic. The normal front layer is Line while Silhouette is usually put at the back for a three dimensional effect. Other layer arrangements are possible. The type works well for shop displays, poster work, menus, signage and other purposes where you want the type to have impact.

Vienna designer Viktor Solt has a love affair with handwriting. “Usually” he says “when I start with a specific calligraphic style I take some historic specimens and try to integrate their main features into my own handwriting.” Although there are hints of various 18th-century calligraphic styles in Ballerino it was not based on any historical model. M Kai is a design inspired by the popular Kaiti developed in contemporary China. MKai adopts many features of Kaishu, one of the many Chinese writing scripts and calligraphic style. Yet writing style and constructions have been well-unified to meet quality as typeface. Its strokes has relatively heavier stroke beginning and finishing, as well as thinner middle part. It is catered for fine print with little conglutination. Its medium weight makes it more visible at distance and pretty versatile in use. Zhonggong are tightly built with ample character spacing for good individual character recognition. It is best suited for formal body text, set upright (non-slanted), non-condensed.

Xaloc was designed for editorial use in books, magazines and newspapers. This typeface family contains different font versions for different optical sizes; Caption, Text, Subhead and Display, all of them with different x-height proportions and contrast. Its serifs are asymmetrical and its letterforms have geometric modulated strokes that emulate the calligraphic variations. Its design approach enhances text flow and continuous reading. Xaloc was based on Ricado Santos’ Tramuntana, which has the same skeleton, proportions and serifs with a more mechanical design. Xaloc is the Catalonian name from the Mediterranean wind that comes from the Sahara and reaches hurricane speeds in North Africa and Southern Europe.
