One of the text fonts showcased within the pages of the John Ryan Foundry (Baltimore, MD) specimen book from 1894 is a squared type face with rounded corners called “Geometric”. The original design has been updated slightly by substituting straight lines for the inner corner curves to add a small contemporary touch to a classic alphabet from the 19th century. Faber Serif is the Roman typeface which was born out of the sans serif design Faber Sans. The pro­portions are nearly identical to those of Faber Sans. In comparison, Faber Serif has heavy — although very short — serifs. Chank worked with Josh Eshbach, an intern from Minneapolis College of Art and Design, to create Cocaine as the Chank Font of the Month for November 2000. Derived from the world famous Rennie Mackintosh Font, the Scotland St. version gives an outline form of the genius of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The "Scotland St." name comes from one of Mackintosh's most famous architectural works - the Scotland St. School in Glasgow, Scotland. This wonderful legacy of Mackintosh's genius can be visited daily FREE OF CHARGE, as it has been classed as a museum by Glasgow City Council.

Obelysk Grotesk was designed by the Lanston Drawing Office in the late 1980s. This face is a reconstruction of Spire (1937) drawn by Sol Hess. The skeleton of Spire Roman stands with the serifs removed. Like Spire, this font has no lower case, but does offer alternate cap styles in some of the lower case positions. Spire and Obelysk have both been used prominently in the fashion industry.

Point Blair is a script typeface that mimics natural handwriting and signature styles. Inspired by the scribblings found in travel journals from early explorers, this script font focuses on a free flow feel, with real brush pen texture and variance built into each character. To keep things looking natural, every character a-z and A-Z has an alternate available so that you can add variance to your text.

Here’s a not-often-seen variation of Milton Glaser’s 1968 creation Baby Teeth, distributed by Photo-Lettering Inc. as Baby Teeth Baroque. Actually, the sinuous swirls suggest, rather, an Art Nouveau influence, which is why this version has its name. Well, that, and the original design didn’t need any fixing. This font contains the complete Latin language character set (Unicode 1252) plus support for Central European (Unicode 1250) languages as well.

Galangal, or Laos, is a root belonging to the ginger family, which is used in Indonesian cuisine. Since this font has the same design characteristics as Kurkuma, I thought naming it after a root was quite appropriate. Galangal is pretty unique, with thin and fat areas, bizarre glyphs and rough edges. Upper and lower case are fully interchangeable and the typeface comes with a full range of diacritics.

PiPi is named after a happy Italian cat with a remarkable pattern, color and attitude. Designed by Andre Toet in 2011.
