I was listening to an Opeth album called Blackwater Park. By the time I had decided that this font needed some swirls, the band was playing a song called The Drapery Falls - which has the word ‘spiraling’ in it (see poster 2) - and the name was born. Spiraling down is a surprisingly elegant font (given its roughness). I probably wouldn’t set a whole text in it, but it will really stand out as a titling font for packaging or book covers.

The DF Dudok is a minimal bitmap typeface which works very well in small sizes both on your screen and on paper. I am connected in a culinary way with the architects’ name W.M. Dudok. It was the first restaurant where I cooked under the critical eye of my chef Gerhard Braun. One look at the font Wanted brings to mind swinging saloon doors, double shots of whiskey and sheriff's badges. It belongs to the so-called Italienne typefaces which began to appear at the beginning of the 19th century. The distinguishing characteristic of such typefaces is the robustness of its serifs, which exceeds that of the base strokes. Wanted looks almost as though it were stamped on paper. Small white flecks appear in some of the strongest black strokes just as they would in a stamp which did not get quite enough ink...or are they perhaps the work of a sharp shooter?
