Font designed after that used in Brehan-Loudeac (Britanny, France) by Robin Fouquet and Jean Crès in years 1480s to print a lot of texts and books. This font include “long s”, naturally, as typically medieval, and a few special characters and abreviations, also some variants, like for “d”, “r” or “v”. The small “y” is accented, just like in British alphabet of the time, though the texts were printed in French. Added, a lot of accented characters no longer existing on this time. A render sheet, in the font file, makes it more easy to identify on a keyboard. This font is used as variously as web-site titles, posters and flier designs, editing ancient texts... all you need. This font supports easily as large than small size, remaining readable, original and pretty.

Bodoni Classic Stencil is another of my personal additions to the Bodoni Classic Family that Giambattista would have never made. In his days people had enough skill and the neccessary time to put beautiful handlettering on parcels and cases. No need for stencils! Today we do not need them either since shipping has gone barcode crazy, but for some reason stencil-letters are very much in fashion. Linotype Zapf Essentials is the modernized version of Zapf Dingbats and was also designed by Hermann Zapf himself. Over 372 characters and symbols are included within six fonts and make life a little more communicative, a little more informative, and a lot more interesting. The fonts contain symbols for both professional and everyday uses. With their markers, ornaments and arrows they are informative as well as versatile, timeless and lively. An interesting note to the story of Zapf Essentials: in 1977, Hermann Zapf created about 1000 sketches of signs and symbols. ITC chose those which became known around the world as Zapf Dingbats. For a typesetter, dingbats are the characters in the corner of the type box which can be used for just about anything. The last decade has seen the appearance of new symbols for e-mail, fax, mobile phones and other developments. Although the early 1900s through the 1920s seemed to be the "Golden Age" of ridiculously long novelty song titles, it appears that even the decade of the 1940s had its fair share as well. Song Merchant JNL was modeled from the hand lettered [but exhausting] title of the sheet music for "Princess Poo-Poo-Ly Has Plenty Pa-Pa-Ya (and she Loves to Give it Away)". Despite the obvious double-entendre inferences of the title, the square block letters with rounded corners make for a useful headline font (even if the source material it was drawn from is quite forgettable). Available in regular and oblique versions.

Aztek emerged as a custom face for an ethno-music festival, and gradually developed a more robust, geometric base. The original ethno roots can still be seen in some of the alternative caps, and the ease with which Aztek forms decorative elements and borders. There is also an alternative “Tall Caps” set, that goes alongside normal uppercase characters as if they were Small Caps. The font features Latin (extended to support German and Polish) and Сyrillic character sets. Though Aztek is an accidental face designed primarily for display work, it holds well at smaller sizes and can endure high ink gain printing found in letterpress and silk-screen processes.

INDG Actio is the result of a several years long exploration. In it, a minimum amount of shapes are assembled into an alphabet of sci-fi feel. It is my personal Eurostil. Inspired by hope of a brighter future, INDG Actio is a great fit for spatial fantasy material, music gear interfaces or forward-looking tech ventures, as an example. Though designed mainly to be a display font for titles, short texts and logos, it is versatile. Have fun with it and adapt it to the specific needs you may have. Deseada is a blurred roman face with a small x-height —actually a modified Caslon— that fits perfectly into retro environments. Use it as a parody, it's just a sort of Catalan custom.

Bilbo is a very legible calligraphic style that has a masculine feel. It can be used for more than just display. Use Bilbo in body copy that requires added warmth to a message.

I come from a family of educators- my mom, husband, stepmom, brother-in-law, and sister are all currently teaching and I have taught in the past. This font was created after speaking to several elementary school teachers who were struggling to find just the right font to use on worksheets and projects in their classroom. They liked many features of other fonts, but needed small things altered in order to make a "perfect fit" for their class. Hand-drawn by me, this font hopefully addresses several of those issues. As penmanship styles vary across the globe, I am sure this font will not work in every classroom. But hopefully this style will work for many teachers to give their early readers a highly legible, neat, accurate font. It is best used with kerning turned on to allow for accurate letter spacing.

The initial idea for the Oops font, was to create graphemes, and by using them it could imitate a mark of a spilled liquid-stain. In an attempt to make the most convincing effect, those graphemes were written on glass. The final appearance of the graphemes, mostly remain in their basic form, and have the characteristic of a liquid, like fluidity in motion. This manuscript is expressive, but that does not affect the readability of the letters. The generated font was created by using Photoshop, Illustrator and a little bit of interventions in Font Lab. Font Oops is updated and edited version of an old version of the Art decor font, which had just basic letters. Today, Oops font contains Latin and Cyrillic letters, and it can be ideal for use in subjects like a paintball, art, expression, ink, water...

After doing this for so many years, one would think my fascination with the old history of writing would have mellowed out by now. The truth is that alongside being a calligraphy history buff, I'm a pop technology freak. Maybe even keener on the tech thing, since I just can't seem to get enough new gadgets. And after working with type technologies for so many years, I'm starting to think that writing and design technologies as we now know them, being about 2.5 post-computer generations, keep becoming more and more detached from what the very old humanity arts/tasks they essentially want to facilitate. In a world where command-z is a frequently used key combination, it’s difficult to justify expecting a Morris-made book or a Zaner-drawn sentence, but accidental artistic “mutations” become welcome, marketable features. When fluid pens were introduced, their liquid saturation influenced type design to a great extent almost overnight an influence professional designers tend to play down. Now round stroke endings are a common sight, and the saturation is so clean and measured, unlike any liquid-paper relationship possible in reality. Some designers even illustrate their work by overlaying perfect circles at stroke ends, in order to illustrate how “geometric” their work was. Because if it’s measured with precise geometry, it’s got to be meaningful design. And once in a while, by a total freak accident, the now-cherished mutations prove to have existed long before the technology that caused them. Rolling Pen was cued by just such a thing: A rounded, circular, roll-flowing calligraphy from the late nineteenth century seemingly one of those experimental takes on what inspired Business Penmanship, another font of mine. Looking at it now it certainly seems to be friendlier, more legible, and maybe even more practical and easier to execute than the standard business penmanship of those days, but I guess friendliness and simplicity were at odds with the stiff manner business liked to present itself back then, so that kind of thing remained buried in the professional penman’s oddities drawer. It would be quite a few years before all this curviness and rounding were thought of as symbolic of graceful movement, which brought such a flow closer to the idea of fine art. Even though in this case the accidental mutation just happens to not be a mutation after all, the whole technology-transforms-application argument still applies here. I'm almost sure “business” will be the last thing on people’s minds when they use this font today. One extreme example of that level of disconnect between origin and current application is shown here, with the so-called business penmanship strutting around in gloss and neon. Rolling Pen is another cup of mine that runneth over with alternates, swashes, ligatures, and other techy perks. The 1940s-era hand-lettered title on vintage sheet music for the song hit "Donkey Serenade" had an interpretation of the classic typeface "Broadway" used in a Mexican/Southwest motif with wavy lines cutting through the letters. Adapting Playwright JNL (itself, a hand-lettered interpretation of "Broadway") to this style, the festive design is now a digital typeface called Southwest Serenade JNL.
