Sheet music for the 1939 song “On the Paraña” featured Art Deco hand lettering in a classic “thick and thin” style, with many stylized characters. The publisher of the song was the Theodore Presser Company of Philadelphia, so the name “Presswork” aptly fit this typographic design. Presswork JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions. For trivia buffs, the Paraña is a river in Brazil.

Fungis is a somewhat �brother� of Fungia. These two typefaces were conceived simultaneously as an experiment on designing typeface based on natural shapes. In both cases it was mushrooms. Of course the main theme of these typefaces is not mushrooms itself (it was just a start point) but the interaction between form and counterform. In spite of unquestioning individuality the font has some associations with wood typefaces from wild west, typefaces from circus posters of 19th century and even slight feeling of gothic. This is my first fontrelease in 2021, and it's one of those "things will get better soon" kinda fonts (Here I am thinking about 2020, which was a year I am glad we just left!) Anyway, the first thing I ate in 2021 (not counting the "kransekage" after midnight) was a delicious and lovely tuna sandwich - or as I called it: Party Toast! Heh-heh! :) Well, it is a playful font with it's jumpy and slightly quirky letters. I've added 5 different versions of each letter and they automatically cycles as you type. I cross my fingers for a 2021 where everything gets back to normal!

Many items we use in our day-to-day lives offer wonderful source material for font designs. Mailbox Letters JNL was inspired by a set of self-stick adhesive letters used on mailboxes, doors and other areas of identification at home or in business. Each letter, number and punctuation mark is centered on a black rectangle - just as the actual model for this font. Use it as spaced, or hand set it tighter to form a ribbon with white-on-black text. To provide continuity for the ribbon effect, a blank rectangle is provided on the vertical bar key (the shift position of the backslash key). Limited character set.

100.000 years ago years ago, a group of mad scientists from the far away planet ZyrXX, encountered the earth and just waited to conquer the planet. Their masterplan was to use electronic brain waves to manipulate our minds. Sounds cheesy and comic, right? Well, that is the true story about this font. The font was built using a grid (hence the name!) and all I had in mind, was a mixture of old sci-fi movies and computer graphics from the 80ies. I did my best to recall and re-create this - I will let you be the judge to decide whether I succeeded! :)

Old Thunder is a revival of an 1800’s Tuscan style font called Lavinia, we've expanded the original font to include a lowercase, an Open faced version, a very attractive Black face and last this set just wouldn't be complete without a Fill font. OmegaPixel Font Description I created this font for the game Hyper Ninja Blast (but made it useful to all kinds of games!). While creating the game, I searched for pixel fonts, but could not find a suitable one. The fonts were generally ugly and lacking the basic variations (italic and bold). So I decided to create my own pixel font. Just as pixel art can be better than a high-resolution painting, so pixel fonts don’t need to be always worse than traditional fonts. In OmegaPixel I tried to achieve elegance, readability and flexibility within the limitations of a 6 pixel x-height. With 4 versions (regular, italic, bold and bold italic), and a neutral feel, OmegaPixel can be used in any genre of games. Considering the general lack of money among indie game devs, I’m giving the regular version for free! For inspiration, I often remebered Minion’s lowercase ‘a’, Galliard italic lowercase ‘g’, and the calligraphy of Chinese emperor Huizong.

In older American slang, a "bum steer" is a bad tip, some bad advice or being sent in the wrong direction (to name a few examples). Bum Steer JNL was modeled from some playful hand lettering found on a piece of early 20th Century sheet music entitled "When Uncle Joe Plays a Rag on His Old Banjo". It's very possible that "Hobo" (a popular type design of the time) was a strong influence on the sheet music's style of title lettering. It seems that songwriters in those bygone days were prone to cramming as many words from a line of their song into the title itself. Another such example of a wordy song title which coincidently is in keeping with the theme of a "bum steer" (pun intended) is a novelty number from 1915: "Cows May Come and Cows May Go but the Bull Goes on Forever" (words by Vincent Bryan, music by Harry Von Tilzer). [It's kind of self-descriptive, don't you think?]

Reviving a handwriting style from centuries past is similar to playing antique musical instruments; the pleasure of communing with live music arranged centuries ago by brilliant composers is heightened by the use of authentic or reconstructed artifacts. A new revived" script from the Baroque epoch is the Waza typeface, developed by Polish designer Franciszek Otto. Waza is inspired by a Wilhelm Hondius (Hondt) etching. Hondius was a Dutch court engraver for the Polish king, Ladislaus IV of the Vasa dynasty. The decorative character of the script engraved in the etching is a display of Hondius's calligraphic skill. The tangle of the flourishes in the capital letters, as well as the decorative lengthening of ascenders and descenders in the lowercase, contrast ideally with the rhythmic 30-degree slant of the design. Waza includes a set of alternative capital letters that have been deprived of ornaments; these allow the setting of proper Roman numerals, e.g., Ladislaus IV."
