Font editors allow one to blend fonts, that is, to take two different fonts and create a new one by averaging the two source fonts. This feature is responsible for the many different weights that come with some modern typefaces. It can also be used to blend completely different fonts, though these blends will require a lot of cleaning and correcting to make them useable. EuroikaKamp began as a blend of two vastly different faces: Euroika, a face with a lot of contrast, straight lines, and smooth curves, and KampFriendship, a hand drawn serif that is almost mono linear. The result is an odd, quirky face that may be useful when one wants a very readable font without the precision and formality of a standard text font.

Bonhomme Richard evokes the cursive penmanship of Chevalier John Paul Jones (1747–1792), celebrated Continental Navy commander during the American Revolution, in letters from the late 18th century. The font’s name comes from Jones’s famous frigate, lost during his victorious engagement with the British in the Battle of Flamborough Head in 1779. During this battle Jones is said to have exclaimed, when urged to surrender, “I have not yet begun to fight!” (In fact, his likely words were, “I may sink, but I’ll be damned if I strike!” – i.e., surrender.) A legible script, Bonhomme Richard has an elegance about it while also conjuring the colonial era of its source material. A while back I created a nice font called Harimau. It is a childish font, with a happy feel to it. Harimau had some unusual glyphs, most notably the 'g' and the 'j', which, for some designers, were a little too unusual. Therefore I have created a new font based on the old Harimau: it is similar, but comes with 'normal' glyphs.

Overland Trail JNL is Jeff Levine Fonts’ interpretation of “Italian”, first introduced in 1821 by the Caslon & Catherwood Type Foundry. Unique and somewhat similar to Faux Pas JNL with its eccentric stroke weights (opposite what is considered normal for serif fonts), the typeface features a design most associated with the Old West. Overland Trail JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Cast Shadow JNL uses the same wood type as found in Trade Printer JNL and adds to it a cast shadow in right or left versions for a bold and unique look. I really can’t tell you why I called this font Funky Flamingo. Normally I name fonts after something I see or do, but I don’t have a special thing for flamingoes, nor do I keep them in my backyard. This typeface appears to be straight out of a science fiction movie thriller. Mingo is a slightly condensed, somewhat vain gothic with thick vertical strokes proudly tapering downward. Capitals which are normally completely round are now square inside with curving outside corners. Lowercase letters carry the same design traits. And, in the capital A and H, crossbars extend on both sides helping give the face a pronounced retro look. Mingo Gothic is a close cousin to Raleigh Gothic and is an excellent choice for book covers and large display settings. Small caps, fractions, and alternate characters have also been developed for greater layout versatility. Mingo Gothic Bold is now available in the OpenType format.
