Neverland is my attemp of a lettering font. I was inspired by the letters in displays of retaurants. It will work great in posters, shirts, magazines and displays because it has a charming feel. I received a lot of help from my good friend Maximiliano Sproviero (Lián Types). The name is based on the tale of Peter Pan from James Matthew Barrie.

One good pun is worth a simple description… Nondescript JNL… 'Non' - not. 'de' - of, in Spanish. script - a cursive (handwritten) letter form. So… while nondescript generally means lacking any defining description, in this case it also means "not of a script"… which is precisely what a typeface such as this one is!

First off, Slivowitz is written with a v (SlivoVitz), rather than a w, but I liked it better with a w. Slivowitz is a plum brandy from Eastern Europe. My father used to be an international truck driver and he often had to go to Eastern Europe. He took all kinds of ‘western’ goods with him to give away (plastic bags, beer, cigarettes - remember, Eastern Europe at the time was still communist!). He always came back with bottles of Slivowitz. I never tasted it, as I was too young, but I liked the name and I decided to name this font after a fond memory! Slivowitz is an easy-going handwritten script font - it looks good on fashion items, book covers and fancy magazines, but greeting cards will look just as great. Comes with a bunch of ligatures, alternates and a whole lotta diacritics!

Zappaloosa is a wordplay, and the name came to me while listening to the radio while making this font. At a point I must have misheard something, but the name Zappaloosa popped up in my mind. The letters of Zappaloosa are playful and easy to use for serious or more loose use. I've added 3 different versions of each lowercase letter and multilingual support

Breuckelen was inspired by the regular patterns of the New York City plan. The grid of any large modern city is immediately recognizable by the distinctive pattern of major roads curving or slanting through it. This face is intended to be recognizable in the same way. It is named after the Dutch town after which Brooklyn is named, a word which also roughly translates as "broken land".

When Baka and Baka Too did very well commercially (Baka was named the Best Cursive Rough Script in 2005), I shied away from doing rough, handwritten scripts in fear as being seen as a one-trick-pony. A few years have passed and some early sumi-e brush ‘doodles’ kept appealing to me. I initially thought this new font would just fall under the Baka mantle and just become a new sibling, but as brush hit paper over and over again, the letters took on a different personality from Baka. This new font was turning out to be far more expressive, smooth and rough, tasty but sticky. This dichotomy demanded a new name. The rough and smooth texture suggested the name Fugu—oddly delicate while rough and functional.

Full of texture and regal personality, Bell Martellus was derived from a book published in 1475 by Henricus Martellus entitled “Liber Insularum.” The writing style is based on the Carolingian Script created by the Emperor Charlemagne and his scribe, Alquin of York, in the 9th century A.D. This old world lettering comes with new world OpenType capabilities, including swash caps and small caps. The James Ford Bell Library at the University of Minnesota commissioned Bill Moran to develop this font as a means of introducing their amazing collection of rare books, maps and manuscripts to a wider audience. Once the historic script was fontified by Bill, it was forwarded to Chank Co, where we added some snazzy baubles for the discriminating typographer. Everybody can enjoy the antique genuine nature of Bell Martellus, but advanced OpenType users also get extra features in Adobe CS applications.

Big Brush is the result of me seeing Brush Script everywhere around me. Toronto signage is full of Brush Script. My last two trips to the West Coast showed me mostly Brush Script. Brush Script must be the most widely overused North American script font of all time. Don't we all know at least one restaurant or bar with its sign made in Brush Script? And aren't you just sick of the weird F, Q and T of Brush Script? Well, out with the old and in with the new. Big Brush was made as a replacement for Brush Script, and then some. While Brush Script has only the single familiar letters we all know, Big Brush comes in two fonts, so you can keep the design fresh the neat and keep them guessing at the same time. Inspired by a set of vintage alphabet game tile pieces, Newark JNL has similar traits to other slab serif Romans, but enough 'quirky' letter widths to break the rules and have it stand out on its own merits. The name derives from font work files in progress, often saved as 'new work' until a fitting name is decided upon. It seemed only right that this phrase be turned around into a font name itself. Newark JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Kaaos Pro is based on the logo of the Finnish hardcore band of the same name. It was expanded to include extended Latin, extended Cyrillic and Greek alphabets so it will work with most languages in Europe and the Americas.

Designed for the seminal comics magazine of the same name, Revolver was one of Rian Hughes’ first typeface designs. Originally published as part of the FontFont range, it has now been remastered and includes full European glyph support and Opentype features.
