Teo Tuominen’s Trevor took its first breath as a revival of an 18th century antiqua, but culminated in an entirely new and good-natured family. Trevor is an affable slab serif in nature: both heavy and kind. Known for their familiarity and their dark colour, the terminals of slab serifs put additional weight along the line to maintain an inky presence. Their clunky forms reveal slight immaturity and arouse the reader’s sympathy for the subject at hand. Trevor connects with others by consciously riding the line between being personal and commanding. One goal with Trevor was to pair the robust nature of a low contrast slab serif with more sophisticated elements, such as the ball terminals. So wherever one looks in Trevor, rounded corners rule the day, softening the overall appearance by mimicking ink spread made by old metal type. The easygoing look is tempered by very few inktraps and sharp corners, mostly to the inside of characters and in acute angles. Whatever Trevor is paired with, it has an altruistic outlook in that it sees the best in others. It’s the neighbourly type family
 — the neighbour you actually want. Trevor’s almost monolinear weight and high x-height give it a typewriter look in the extralight and light weights, but the whole family was made to work with many other font styles, design work, and information structures. Avimode is bold, sharp, and futuristic. An original CubicType design with a design inspired by the holes and tracks on printed circuit boards. Text set in Avimode fills almost all the space available to it, and has small details. CubicType therefore recommends using this type at large sizes and with processes that are faithful to its fine details. It would look great cut 2 metres high on the side of your galactic spaceship. Please be aware that some of the lettershapes have sharp pointy corners: HANDLE WITH CARE!

Zaatar means thyme, which was first cultivated in Mediterranean Levant, then used by ancient Egyptians for embalming. That's why we found it a perfect name for the first collaboration between Boharat (Cairo) and Hey Porter! (Jordan).

Tony Wenman designed the display typeface Bottleneck in the early 1970s and its figures reflect the spirit of the times. Its distinguishing characteristic is the extreme heaviness of the serifs in the lower third of the characters, a trait which the viewer could associate with the plateau shoes of the 1970s. Bottleneck is a carefree, playful typeface which can be found even today on entertainment fliers and retro advertisements. When used sparingly in headlines and slogans, it is a real eye-catcher. Similar typefaces are Julia Script, by David Harris, and Candice, by Alan Meeks.

Hasan Ghada is an Arabic display typeface. It is useful for titles and graphic projects. The font is based on the simple lines of Modern Kufi calligraphy with new ideas for square shapes and geometric feel. It supports Arabic, Persian and Urdu. This font was designed in 2002 and the first version was released under name KactTitle in the typefaces group of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), which supported the Linux operation system. In 2007, I developed this font and created five weights of it.

Aircrew is a neutral, humanist sans-serif family optimized for signage applications in display sizes. Its large x-height enhances readability and its letterforms help distinguish characters from each other, increasing legibility. Aircrew has vertical terminals, low contrast, and short ascenders and descenders. The weight variations between uppercase and lowercase characters provide the perfect balance and its slightly condensed proportions allow more words to fit in less space. There are two different versions of Aircrew, positive and negative. This avoids optical effects that cause uneven thickness and unsteady readability in either light or dark backgrounds.

The starting point for CA Slalom was the aspiration to create a contemporary interpretation of classics like Gill and Antique Olive in terms of aesthetics, flexibility and usefulness. The outstanding S soon became the visual hook and starting from the extra bold extended weight, CA Slalom evolved into a huge family with four widths. It’s rather round instead of squarely with stroke-ends pulled deep and a relatively low x-height. This gives CA Slalom a taste of its own, and although it is clearly contemporary, it has the potential to become a classic.

Four fonts — found on a map of America, created by the spanish cartographer Diego Gutiérrez and the dutch engraver Hieronymus Cock anno 1562. From the start of the digitization by Sebastian Nagel in 2005, Tierra Nueva has gone a long way. On its journey of exploration it has grown to four members of a family (regular, bold, italic and script) with an overall count of almost 3.700 characters for different languages and purposes, extensively featured with useful typographic options.
