In a world where technology can reach millimetric precision, sometimes it’s good to connect with the imperfect and controlled impurity that is nature. Font design in particular has matured through software that can generate the most perfect letters in the world. But most of them don’t have soul. Landa is a glimpse from the cutting edge into the past. Inspired by Venetian lettering from the 15th century, whilst giving them new meaning, its letters become expressionist and have a modern touch. A rendez-vous between Nicolas Jenson, Oldřich Menhart, and nature itself. In Landa you can feel the texture of trunks and branches, from full fertile splendour to dried-out frailty. It takes the reader for a stroll through the woods on a late autumn evening, or on an adventure through the Amazonian rainforest, depending on the weight chosen. In the lighter and italic options, Landa text is organic and rustic, and very comfortable to read. Worldly Even though it’s a new arrival, FS Brabo has seen the world. Designed by a Brazilian working in London and studying in Belgium under a Dutchman, it’s certainly well-travelled. And it was inspired by the extraordinary archive of early book typefaces at the world-renowned Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp, while Fernando Mello was attending Frank Blokland’s Expert class Type Design course at the Plantin Institute of Typography. It was there that Fernando became engrossed in the collection of early metal type, matrices, punches and type samples by figures such as Garamond and Granjon. So much so that he took on the mighty task of developing ‘a beautiful, functional, serifed text font’ of his own. Heroic FS Brabo’s journey from sketch to font family took an epic three years, starting in Antwerp, continuing at Fontsmith in London, and reaching its conclusion back in Fernando’s home city of São Paulo. No wonder Fernando was reminded of another titanic face-off: that of Antwerp’s Roman hero of legend, Silvius Brabo, and the evil ogre, Antigoon. Brabo came to the town’s rescue after the tyrannical giant had been charging ships’ captains extortionate taxes and chopping off the hands of those who refused to pay up. Having finally downed Antigoon after a long and terrible duel, Brabo cut off the giant’s own hand and threw it into the river Scheldt, unwittingly giving the town its name: the Dutch for ‘hand-throw’ is hand werpen. What better way for Fernando to name his literary typeface than after the hero of Antwerp’s oldest tale? The garalde factor FS Brabo is not a revival, but a very much a contemporary, personal interpretation of a garalde – a class of typeface originating in the 16th century that includes Bembo, Garamond and Plantin, with characteristically rounded serifs and moderate contrast between strokes. Brabo’s ‘ct’ and ‘st’ ligatures, upper-case italic swashes and contextual ending ligatures – ‘as’, ‘is’, ‘us’ – all preserve the beauty and character of traditional typefaces, but its serifs are chunkier than a garalde. Their sharp cuts and squared edges give them a crispness at text sizes, helping to bring a beautifully bookish personality to hardworking modern applications. HS Almisk Serif is a display typeface. It can be used for titles and graphic projects, which support Arabic and. It has been created based on modern kufi style. It enjoys flexibility between sharp and curved lines in the structure of characters. This supports with a beautiful appearance and wonderful geometric structure. It based on HS Almisk typeface with a serif on some of its characters. (5) Weights has been created for this typeface between the Light weight and Black weight. This typeface with its diversity of (5) weights is intended to be an attempt for a good addition to Arabic typography.

Art deco The inspiration for FS Blake’s elegant, lightly geometric forms can be traced back to design of the 1930s; designer Emanuela Conidi was influenced by the typography of cool, European, art deco posters. FS Blake bears traits of the art deco style, from its thin weights to its heavy weights, giving a set of faces each with their own distinct character, but still with a strong family resemblance. Mechanical type Mechanical and organic shapes combine in FS Blake to create a harmonious whole of generous curves and cursive spikes. A strong, punchy contender in display sizes, it’s also got a gentle touch with small text in lighter weights. Lively, versatile and with plenty of character contrast between weights, the FS Blake family offers impact in whatever task it’s given.faces each with their own distinct character, but still with a strong family resemblance. Sketch book Great fonts still emerge from a combination of hand, paper and pencil. After filling her sketch book with ideas, Emanuela and Jason extracted the elements that both felt could work in a font. The process yielded a whole crop of starting points for future designs as well as a focus for FS Blake as a striking, characterful, almost industrial font.

The Ihre-Götlin Runic inscription is one of the other runic inscriptions in America. I couldn't find much data on it.

Surf and Turf JNL was redrawn from hand-lettering on a souvenir folder for an event believed to be sponsored by Miami Beach's exclusive Surf Club on March 19, 1938. Entitled "Steeplechase Pier March 19 Surf Club Stroller", it's now lost to time whether the event recreated some of the fun and games of Atlantic City's famed Steeplechase Pier at the Surf Club, or if this was a special event trip to the New Jersey venue. It's also highly possible that the Steeplechase Pier referred to in the title was the one at Coney Island.

Of the many lettering gurus who published chapbooks on handlettering during its heyday, one of the most prolific was H. C. Martin. This quirky poster face was offered in one of his many Idea Books, and it remains as fresh and frolicsome today, some seventy years later, as when it first appeared. Both versions of this font include the complete Unicode Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

Paradise Lost is a 1667 poem by John Milton which mostly concerns the Biblical story of the Fall of Man, Eve's temptation by the devil and the expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden. It's quite a hefty read, as the poem consists of ten books with over 10.000 lines of verse. Needless to say, I didn't read it all. But, it did give me inspiration for a font, which I called Paradise Lost. It's a good name, even though there is nothing Biblical about this font. Paradise Lost was created (pun intended) using a broken bamboo satay skewer and Chinese ink. It is all caps, but upper and lower case differ and like to mingle. I also included several ligatures for double lower case letters (aa, ee, jj, kk, etc.). Paradise Lost comes with an eternity of diacritics.

PTL Attention a robust and contemporary sans serif type family with its very own characteristics. Made for work in text as well as display it comes with nine weights in two styles, including small caps, a set of contemporary OpenType features, all standard figure sets and a rich language support. The concept for PTL Attention goes back to the days of Viktor’s thesis Type Attack!. From the beginning there was the idea not only to have a display stencil type like PTL Attack, but also to create a more serious companion. One of the intentions while designing it was also to come to an result that shows not another feel-good, streamlined corporate typeface. A pinch of "anti" should vibrate with it. Nevertheless the main intention was to create a highly legible and useful type family.

The Yasmine Mutamathil type family follows the guidelines of the Mutamathil type style. It has only one glyph for every basic Arabic Unicode character or letter. The Yasmine Mutamathil family includes all required Lam-Alif ligatures and selected marks positioning so it does use limited glyph substitutions or forming. Yasmine Mutamathil employs four fixed x-height values, two above and two below the x-axis. Values are high to give a slight vertical overall look. Its design uses full curves with equally distributed weight. Text strings composed using types of this family are non-cursive with stand- alone isolated glyphs.
