So, almost in full hindsight now, the DIY implosion of the past few years must have really been a reaction to our technological dis/connection. In typography, the minimalist future is already here, with something as austere as the sans serif having become the preferred expression of progress and fortune, both part of the connected isolation we are undergoing. But when physical interaction must take place, like coffee shops and gin joints, our organic alphabets ride high and mighty. That sense of human heritage — elegance and exuberance in our writing, the use of flaws to charmingly brand our own individualism — keeps turning up in all kinds of places, most unexpected of which is the digital world. The overall message seems to be that we’re still creative, imaginative, and unique. In the digital world, on blogs where we write about our puny music and fashion preferences, we’re just articulating this individualism of ours, this third domain of existence our future seems eager to dismiss. These were the thoughts behind Blog Script, the second collaboration between Carolina Marando and Alejandro Paul, after their successful stint with the Distillery set of fonts. This was a creative experiment. Writing for a long period of time prior to starting erased any inhibitions that prohibited forming natural, authentic letters and by adding more duration the hands became sore and weak. Allowing minimal control, and a more eccentric outcome. It was a real slog, but totally worth it. Skribblugh is a wobbly, aesthetically pleasing, and obviously handwritten typeface full of character and versatility. Within a modern design; It adds a human’s touch, a final note, a signature. And within a playful, colorful one it helps exaggerate the atmosphere, bringing playfulness and warmth to the center of the stage. With four choices for every uppercase and lowercase letter, there are plenty of opportunities to make designs look personal and relatable!

Ballpoint Catalog is a handwriting typeface, based on my dad's real handwriting, he was a teacher. I'm amaze by its smoothness and elegant, not fully follow the rules of penmanship handwriting but he has his own style of script which make it more human, natural handwriting rather that 'generic' handwriting typeface style. Geronimo is a rough poster script done in the spirit of brush calligraphy experiments conducted by American calligrapher and historian, Professor Alexander Nesbitt. This particular approach to brush script uses a pointed brush. Although Nesbitt considered the pointed brush corruptive and not at all suited to present day western letter forms, he put forth that with enough control of the brush (keeping it upright, maintaining stroke evenness, etc) even an unexperienced letterer can easily draw current day letters, though the result will always show characteristics of the letterer's own handwriting. Geronimo is a great choice for entertainment design, like book covers, film poster and packaging, and CD inserts. It also is a great overall display design for anything that seeks to depict adventure or an environment with a rough human element. Many alternates are sprinkled throughout the font.
