Acuta is a new all-purpose text serif with a good readability and a contemporary, robust look thanks to its low-medium contrast. The differences between thicks and thins are less strongly marked than in oldstyle text faces; yet the diagonal stress needed to facilitate reading is partly provided by the letter shape itself: sharp angles and italic construction give the right dynamism to the text. Acuta becomes very distinctive as a headline, while its big x-height makes it suitable for texts at rather small sizes too. The family consists of seven weights & correspondent italics, with a large character set. The Book and Medium weights, relatively close to each other, can both be used as “plain” weight depending on the size of the text, background color or backlighting. Small caps, oldstyle and tabular figure alternates, superiors and inferiors and ligatures are available in all styles through OpenType features. Kevin Simpson was five years old when the stylized "E" of the Electrolux vacuum cleaner logo caught his eye. This is his earliest recollection of an interest that ultimately became an obsession. Type remains his major preoccupation, and he admits to attempting to work a good typeface design into any project where he can get away with it. Aitos was inspired by a metal sculpture Simpson saw while driving through the French countryside. "The statue was very strong. It was heavily weathered and had obviously been there for some time, yet it also seemed very delicate and light." Aitos, like the statue, is a rugged design. At first glance, it is chunky and bold, perhaps a little jarring. If you look again, however, you'll see it has refined qualities. Aitos commands attention - yet is still affable.

Sassoon fonts package for handwriting starters The three upright "infant" fonts developed to meet the demand for letters to produce pupil material for handwriting as well as for reading. Johann Carl Ludwig Prillwitz, the German punch cutter and type founder, cut the first classic Didot letters even earlier than Walbaum. The earliest proof of so-called Prillwitz letters is dated 12 April 1790. Inspired by the big discoveries of archaeology and through the translations of classical authors, the bourgeoisie was enthused about the Greek and Roman ideal of aesthetics. The enthusiasm for the Greek and Roman experienced a revival and was also shared by Goethe and contemporaries. »Seeking the country of Greece with one’s soul«. All Literates who are considered nowadays as German Classics of that time kept coming back to the Greek topics, thinking of Schiller and Wieland. The works of Wieland were published in Leipzig by Göschen. Göschen used typefaces which had been produced by until then unknown punch cutter. This punch cutter from Jena created with these typefaces master works of classicist German typography. They can stand without any exaggeration on the same level as that of Didot and Bodoni. This unknown gentleman was known as Johann Carl Ludwig Prillwitz. Prillwitz published his typefaces on 12th April 1790 for the first time. This date is significant because this happened ten years before Walbaum. Prillwitz was an owner of a very successful foundry. When the last of his 7 children died shortly before reaching adulthood his hope of his works was destroyed, Prillwitz lost his will to live. He died six months later. His wife followed him shortly after. The typeface Prillwitz as a digital font was created in three optical styles (Normal, Book and Display). The typeface Prillwitz Press was created especially for a printing in small sizes for newspapers. »Prillwitz Press« combines aesthetic and functional attributes which make written text highly readable. It was originally designed for a newspaper with medium contrast to withstand harsh printing conditions. Its structure is quite narrow which makes this typeface ideal for body text and headlines where space is at premium. For the Normal – even more for the Book – a soft and reader-friendly outline was created through a so-called »Schmitz« and optimized in numerous test prints. The character of Sopran is expressed by long serifs that replace traditional drops. Contrast is distributed from monolinear in hairline and all the way to the extreme in the black style. Symbols and punctuation are drawn with monolinear strokes to give the typeface more playful typesetting. The long serifs allow for some interesting discretionary ligatures, like “fa” or “Ta”. Rufolo is a family of fonts that can be considered both aesthetic and utilitarian. It has an apparent serif, barely hinted at, whose clear past reference is a beautiful epigraphic script on the marble plate placed at the southern entrance of the Roman amphitheatre, in Pompeii. Perhaps its origin dates back to Ugarit's cuneiform writing (as Morrison suggests as the origin of the serif in "Politics and Scripts") whose characteristic triangular-shaped incision footprint produces a powerful trait that not only gives character to the writing but also facilitates its support and visual compensation of sizes with neighboring signs. Other clear inspirational references have been Robert Hunter Middleton's Stellar (1929); Albertus (1932) by William A. Dwiggins; Optima (1952) by Hermann Zapf; And more recently RRollie (2016) by our foundry. Rufolo collects the attractive characteristic of the stroke endings but the proportions of its structure becomes much more regular, the capitals are in line with a constant square module, while the above references retain the proportions of the Roman Trajan. Some endings strokes have slightly baroque reminiscence with the intention of giving it greater plasticity and aesthetic enrichment, but absolutely controlled, taking special care of the aspects of readability and expressive neutrality. Torbjörn Olsson's Interrupt is a salty dog of a sanserif, harboring memories of freighters unloading their cargo in a run-down port. Filo Pro is a very beautiful and highly legible typeface family as regular, medium and bold. It is a quite characteristic, modern interpretation of the humanistic serif. The serifs of Filo Pro are not too dominant, and its forms are soft and organic. The font family renders extremely well in text sizes but can equally well be used for headlines. Paestum is a Latin typeface inspired by Greek inscriptions of the 6th and 5th centuries B.C. Its name comes, suitably, from the Latin name for Poseidonia, a former Greek city south of Naples whose two remaining Doric temples have been on antiquities tours since at least the 1700s. Others have scanned this terrain before, of course, but earlier designs failed to supply a lower case. Although Paestum includes complete upper- and lowercase alphabets, diacritics, numerals, and essential punctuation, it does not have many unhistorical glyphs -- such as currency symbols and the @ sign. Paestum comes with three weights: light, medium, and heavy.

Originally ZionTrain was built as a (probably first in Cyrillic!) navigation typeface for the Kharkiv identity project and Kharkiv subway and airport navigation systems. We wanted comprehensible, distinctive letterforms, that can help everybody on the way from Babylon to Zion. The project was used in Kharkiv promotion at homeland and abroad, but was rejected by the new government. As a corporate typeface it was used for a few cultural projects. Now it is equipped with Slavic Cyrillic and Monotonic Greek and has special Stencil faces especially for low-budget navigations (don't forget to get your own Stencil Medium for free!).
