Ithaka is a display monospace handwriting font. The typeface is a distinct hand drawn font using a fountain pen quill ink style. The Ithaka name is derived from the legendary home of the hero Odysseus in Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey (Ancient Greek: Ἰθάκα). Ithaka is great for display work, invitations, writing, books, posters, logos and headings.

Nika is a display face with a quirky personality. Born as part of an experiment in contrast within typeface development, Nika has a thin body with chunky serifs. She is simultaneously sleek and playful, legible and distinct. As part of a magazine repertoire, on neighborhood flyers, or a blog, Nika feels at home in various applications.

In the days when sheet music was as popular as phonograph records for home entertainment, a song album was a folio of collected works. The hand-lettering on the 1940s-era cover for "The Sigmund Romberg Song Album, Book II" served as the model for Song Album JNL. Romberg was a noted composer of Broadway show tunes.

Corvone is a heavy bullnosed display family, inspired by the post war era's ideas of modernity. Two faces are offered, plain—a solid black face, and regular—which employs a three-dimensional pipeline effect to add real emphasis. One would think the whole hippy thing would have died out after the knighting of Mick Jagger and the selling out of the The Who. Not at Canada Type. We still occasionally read Burroughs and Ginsberg, listen to Dylan and Hendrix, and use the backyard to pretend (um, like run barefoot with the dog). And we're always happy to make another psychedelic font. This one is based on an early 1970s film type that went by the names Hoopla and Scorpio. Doobie is a typical hippy font that uses the simplest elements of the art nouveau genre. Bubbly and wavy, Doobie exudes an almost child-like innocence, the ever laid back, optimistic simplicity of flower power. It is right at home alongside the many other psychedelic fonts that make Canada Type the definite home of the groovy alphabet. Far out!

The font is inspired by the history of the native land - a city that blossoms on a high mountain, surrounded by the blue ribbon of the Unava River. The swift rapidity of the river, the important slow flow of its reservoirs, golden beaches and steep banks of which remember the glorious times of Cossack glory. Times when bright flags flew over the Cossack army, which swiftly swept the green meadows with lightning cavalry, and dusty paths under the scorching sun. To go out to defend their homes, to cross the cold steel of ringing sabers with the enemy, and, bravely going into battle, to fight back the invaders. The font combines the straight lines of sharp steel sweeps, the broken lines of jousting blows, and the refinement of the accent of undulating flag lines.

Cake Shop has a lengthy history. Originally designed during the Eighties by Aussie artist David Art Wales, the font was inspired by the awkward but charming hand-lettered signs in a Maltese cake shop near his Sydney home. "These signs were hand-drawn by someone who clearly had no experience but who'd really put their heart and soul into the job. There was a real sincerity to the characters that I wanted to capture." For a brief time during the early Nineties, MTV used Cake Shop for all their on-air interstitials. Since then, it's become a go-to font for everything from children's books to album covers and ice cream branding. In a recent update, Wales added airier spacing to more closely resemble the original signs the font was based on.

In Northern Sumatra, the crystal clear waters of Lake Toba lap gently against the surrounding mountains. In the middle of the lake sits the island of Samosir, for centuries the secluded home of the Batak people. Visitors arrive by ferry into the tiny town of Tuk Tuk, escaping the heat and humidity of the Sumatran jungle. Throughout the village, restaurants and guest houses are adorned with hand-painted signs in bright colors. Perhaps due to Sumatra's long history of European colonization, the letterforms are reminiscent of those used for posters and handbills in America and Europe at the end of the 19th century, but with a distinctly Southeast Asian flavor. Charles Nix, intrigued by the combination of Victorian fancy and Batak arabesque, photographed, sketched and translated the letterforms into a design that is now ITC Batak. Named for the proud ancestors of Samosir's inhabitants, it is a bold condensed letter with hexagonal serifs - a sort of properly dressed grotesque. Batak is available in either Condensed or Condensed Bold.

Commodore International introduced the machine to the market in 1985, after having bought Amiga Corp.
