The purpose of this monospace font is to display braille in an original although rather steganographic way. Its glyphs are built from a flat hexagon which can be read as 3 rows of 2 vertices (i.e. regular braille glyph grid). The initial design is illustrated by glyphs 'ç' (no dot) and 'û' (6 dots) as shown by poster 5. Glyphs are connected to each other, thus 6 connections for each hexagon (2 on left/right and 4 on top/bottom). In the final design many diagonal segments of the hexagon were removed for esthetical reason. Text is displayed not as a honeycomb but as a lattice instead which mixes hexagons, squares and "irregular convex octagons" (mostly unclosed), the design favored squares over octagons. The whole slightly resembling a PCB. Text can be framed with 3 sets of Frame glyphs (as shown in Poster 4): Octagonal: { €, °, £, µ, §, ¥, ~, ¢ } which can be mixed with Rectangular High Rectangular Low: { è, é, ê, ï, î, à, â, ä } Rectangular High: { Â, ù, Ä, Ê, Ë, ô, õ, ë } which can be mixed with Octagonal NB: When using Frame glyphs, it is advised to show Pilcrow (¶) and Non Breaking Space, which are replaced by empty shapes (e.g. in Microsoft Word, use CTRL+8 or use [¶] button in the ribbon).

Its inspiration comes from the types without serifs, with features ranging from architecture to modernist design products. Initially designed for a signaling project in the Brazilian city of Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina, the STP Display was expanded to include the largest number of characters in the Cyrillic anda Latin alphabet. This helps to find solutions in cases where a large number of languages to communicate something is needed, such as to inform a specific place for a tourist or also a direction to follow for an employee in a company. The STP Display is a modular feature, developed with rounded corners and a design based on geometric elements, ideal for use in large sizes. Forms and counterforms, its main characteristics, bring prominence to any signaling project. The STP Display Cyrillic also has another version, the STP Stencil Cyrillic, and in addition to wayfinding projects, both can be used in architectural projects, advertising, packaging, posters, and others. Quayside is a deliciously thick and bulbous baseball script, with a wealth of OpenType features. Features include: Contextual alternates - I would suggest having these on by default; they make letters connect more smoothly (uppercase letters like M and H, which are normally non-connecting for all-caps purposes, connect to lowercase letters. The swash variant of J, and all o and b characters connect to any e character at a lower junction for a smoother join). Contextual alternates also make sure special end-forms of lowercase letters are used at the ends of words. Ligatures - A nice collection of useful ligatures which make the text flow smoother. Swash - Gives you more exuberant capitals. Not recommended for all-caps usage! The swash function also gives a variation of the ampersand and turns # into a nice numero symbol. Oldstyle Figures - lining figures are default but with the flick of a switch in OpenType savvy applications, you get expressive oldstyle figures. Quayside is a versatile typeface. Depending on the mood you're after, it can easily be retro or modern, fun or (fairly) serious. I'm often pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of uses my fonts get put to, and I can't wait to see what you do with this one!

A free flowing and loose handwritten style, with the occasional double lines - and with quite elaborate and decorative initials. Feminine, but sloppy - an interesting combination. I have regularized the stroke thicknesses and modified a couple of the letterforms to make them less ambiguous. Some kerning and spacing completes the workover, together with our extensive language support. Introducing Promenade – a calligraphic serif that started on paper with a flat nib pen (see the 6th image), and blossomed into a full serif with italics. At its core, this font is just... beautiful. It's elegant, it's crisp, it's delicate, but can still hold its own. As I was creating the graphics, I just couldn't get over the flow of the letters – especially the italic. It's got class, but also isn't afraid to rock a pair of Doc Marten's. Funny enough, Jen from Tonic (they make beautiful websites) saw a preview of this font and said, "I'd take that font to prom." Which of course spurred a conversation about how this font would take a Mercedes G-Series instead of a limo, and wear Doc Marten's instead of heels, but still wear the most gorgeous dress, and that is 100% Promenade (and inspo for the name – thanks, Jen!). I've also been loving combining the regular and italic, especially for logos (see the "Friendfolk" logo) One thing to note about Promenade is the letter spacing. It was spaced for clean reading and intentional balance, so I recommend setting the spacing a little tighter if you want to create the display look found in many of the logo mockups(around -20 to -40 should do!).

Fazeta Sans is a perfect companion to serif typeface Fazeta. Two light weights were added, so the complete typeface consist of 14 fonts (7 weights + matching italics). The fine gradation lets you choose perfect weight for any type of project. Every font have 1140 glyphs – just like the serif version and contains the same features, so use and combining of whole typeface is very comfortable. Also fixed kerning allows better comfort for eyes by reading and shortens the length of the text. I tried to preserve sharp and cold impression from serif version, but some straight lines had to be curved due to the natural limitation of sans typefaces (for example the upper arch of “f” is shaped more smooth). However it keeps extremely open form. A little playfulness was left at the end of letters “k, K, and R”, but if you want, this can be eliminated by using a rigorous SS01 feature. Serifs were here transformed into a small yaw from main stroke and so enlive the monotony of sans kind of types. Also slight cutting the top of the letters helping to surprisingly vivid final impression. Fazeta Sans is therefore suitable for wide range of type sizes – from small marginalies to huge poster sizes. To see more please check the PDF specimen.

Katlynne is unpredictable. Katlynne is erratic. Katlynne is beautiful. Katlynne is an alternating contrast, sans serif type family. Arbitrarily separating the characters into ‘rounder’ and ‘straighter’ letterforms to determine what contrast each glyph will take. Katlynne is inspired by the observations made while watching the inexperienced use of broad tip pens. I found how and when individuals rotated their pen gave a visually intrusive, if not also pleasantly conspicuous effect. Often, the pen would naturally rotate horizontally (vertical contrast) on the rounder letterforms, and vertically (reverse contrast) on the straighter ones. This is more or less the formula Katlynne adopts as the contrast changes throughout the styles. Katlynne’s severity of contrast varies from ‘Negative Three’ to ‘Positive Three’ in four weights. With a central style ‘Book’ being the sensible, low contrast font in the family. Within the family there are four weights with 7 contrast styles, with complimenting true italics. Giving a total of 56 fonts! Katlynne's array of options works for creating stylistic similitude within layouts, where conspicuous title faces are needed with a cohesive text face to compliment. Alone, the ends of the contrast spectrum (Negative and Positive Three) create striking word forms for advertising, packaging and anywhere else a loud voice is needed.

The font family Univers is one of the greatest typographic achievements of the second half of the 20th century. The family has the advantage of having a variety of weights and styles, which, even when combined, give an impression of steadiness and homogeneity. The clear, objective forms of Univers make this a legible font suitable for almost any typographic need. In 1954 the French type foundry Deberny & Peignot wanted to add a linear sans serif type in several weights to the range of the Lumitype fonts. Adrian Frutiger, the foundry’s art director, suggested refraining from adapting an existing alphabet. He wanted to instead make a new font that would, above all, be suitable for the typesetting of longer texts — quite an exciting challenge for a sans-serif font at that time. Starting with his old sketches from his student days at the School for the Applied Arts in Zurich, he created the Univers type family. In 1957, the family was released by Deberny & Peignot, and afterwards, it was produced by Linotype. The Deberny & Peignot type library was acquired in 1972 by Haas, and the Haas’sche Schriftgiesserei (Haas Type Foundry) was folded into the D. Stempel AG/Linotype collection in 1985/1989.

This first release highlights the style of one such graffiti writer, WADE1, who has an eclectic writing style after many years proliferating street art. Long-term graffiti artists develop their own style over their careers, spending as many endless hours honing their letter-forms as any full-time professional typographical artist. Style, individuality, and originality are everything. These attributes are key to the graffiti artist's tao. A writer who copies, or "bites" loses respect -- their work will be painted over or "crossed out" by all other writers. The reason for Nicolien van der Keur to design the Rougon font was the translation of twenty novels written by Emile Zola, a French writer, and translated by Martine Delfos. It follows the lives of the members of the two titular branches of a fictional family living during the Second French Empire (1852–1870) and is one of the most prominent works of the French naturalism literary movement. This series deserved a font with French roots and corresponded to the period in which Zola’s books were written and published, the period between 1870 and 1893, the end of the nineteenth century. Extensive research into French historical typefaces has led to a type specimen from the French type foundry Deberny et Cie in Paris around 1907. It turned out to be good and helpful source as it contained a sample of a typeface that reflected the content and style of the novels, but also represented the period in which the books were written in France. A large part of the novels are about the generations of Rougon, so it seemed a natural choice to give the font that name. It is available in one weight and contains stylized portraits of Emile Zola and the French Marianne. This font also contains various ornaments.

Ladoga — one of the most beautiful Russian designs from the soviet period. The type family was developed in Polygraphmash in 1968 by Anatoly Shchukin on the base of his own lettering for book covers and titles. It was one of the first attempts in Cyrillic typography to create text face in a style of renaissance antiqua. Stylization to broad pen calligraphy resembles early forms of Latin types that were based on handwritten humanistic minuscule. Unique in its character set digital version of Ladoga was designed by Viktor Kharik on the base of artworks of Shchukin for ParaType. The family consists of roman and italic styles in text and display versions. Character set includes characters of original shapes as well as more modern alternatives. Besides there are a set of additional characters, old style figures and small caps. The fonts cover all modern languages based on Latin and Cyrillic scripts, Greek alphabet (including polytonic extension), Hebrew and historical Cyrillic letters. Ladoga is gorgeous in display sizes and pretty readable in texts. It’s well suitable for fiction literature, historical books, art criticism, religious and philologist works. It will be extreme helpful for multilingual issues and for inclusions into body text historical passages in original orthography. The family was released in 2010.

Agatized Informal is a rough-edged stencil typeface with chunky letterforms and tight spacing. Designed primarily for display use, it’s ideal for posters, logos, advertising, book cover designs or small chunks of text such as pull-out quotes. The design is something of an enigma, a curious mish-mash of genres – imagine splicing Uncle Buck and Deadpool into a horror movie – it’s big, bold and funny although has a dark side. But what really makes this typeface a joy to drive is its boot full of alternative characters and ligatures. There is a saying: Use sparingly. Not on this street! Make your Glyphs palette burn rubber. Set your OpenType to full throttle: crank up your style and get those liga-tyres screeching. Agatized is a souped-up old campervan spinning doughnuts on the beach. The design started life as a piece of lettering for a book design that didn’t progress past the sketch stage. I liked the rough, dense character shapes, so during some down time I started drawing more characters and the lure of a new typeface pulled me in from there. Although this is a single-weight typeface it has a younger sibling, Agatized Formal, a neater, more dapper brother, smoother round the chops and smartly dressed – certainly no less fun though.

Around the turn of the twentieth-century, Steel and copper plate engraving was the most sophisticated and expensive method for producing business cards, stationery, and formal announcements. In engraved printing, the image is incised, or engraved into a hard, flat plate. Ink is applied to the plate, and then wiped off; leaving only the ink that is trapped below the surface in the incised areas. When the paper is pressed against the flat plate, the ink is drawn out of these areas and transferred to the paper. The results are twofold: printing which sits above the surface of the paper, and the reproduction very delicate lines and shapes. For business and formal printing, engraved printing was, and is, considered the best. The problem is that not everybody can afford the best. Type foundries, in the early 1900s, figured that if they could produce a typeface for traditional printing, which had appearance of engraving, they would be able to satisfy the needs of those forced to live with modest printing budgets. Engravers faces were born. Fredric Goudy’s Copperplate Gothic was one of the most popular. Plate Gothic is a version of this style updated for digital technology. It has all the charm and charisma as the metal type and yet is perfect for today's needs.
