Greene and Hollins of Wolverhampton were a rather smart gentleman’s outfitter, much frequented by my late grandfather and altogether redolent (in memory and actuality) of a bygone age of retail service and respect. I believe they’re out of business now, but we’re rather pleased to offer them this very small if rather random memorial. Greene and Hollins is a set of seven display typefaces, with uniform metrics, which can be overlaid to create multi-coloured ‘engraved’ effects. Also ideal to recreate traditional sign-writing, garment labels, signage and anything else where a period flare is required.

The Roger family was designed in memory of a friend of ours who passed away recently. We created a humorous design for him because he was always laughing and never failed to see the funny side of things. We miss his great outlook on life.

I fell into freezing cold white water rapids, explored long-abandoned cliff dwellings, camped under the Milky Way, saw old cave markings, stone markings, preserved art, and read many a many old map legends. Here's a lively new take on the swirly psychedelic type we all know and love, Spirit of '69 brings in some subtle dimensions of waviness to the vertical strokes, upslanted horizontal strokes, and alluring paisley shapes formed out of the negative spaces. This is a unicase font, in the grand tradition of the Art Nouveau lettering of the early 20th century, and the melty groovy fonts of the 1960s. Lots of fun and beautiful too!

Overton JNL is based on some of the preliminary letter designs by Rudolf Wolf which evolved into his 1929 type design Memphis and is available in both regular and oblique versions. Memphis was the design model for the later typeface family Stymie and Overton JNL was named after Overton Park; located in Memphis, Tennessee.

One of my earliest memories of being able to write - an exciting skill - was of writing with my finger in the fine soft sea sand. I remember the freedom - I had no fear of making mistakes, of smudging ink or of doing anything wrong - and the ease with which I could write or wipe out any thing in the sand. Designing SandWriting was a tribute to those early memories. The font was an attempt to capture the simplicity and ease of a finger effortlessly making its mark in the sand. It can be used in many ways: in menus and invitations, in newsletters and advertisements, and in scrapbooks and brochures. It might be particularly useful for written material aimed at younger people. SandWriting contains all upper and lower case characters, all punctuation and special characters as well as all accented and standard European characters.

The May 7, 1936 issue of “The Film Daily” carried an ad for the Will Rogers Memorial Hospital Fund. (In August of 1935 Rogers, along with famed aviator Wiley Post died in a plane crash.) While the fundraising for the hospital was a serious event, Rogers is remembered as a humorist, hence the font’s name of Humorist JNL.

A "thick and thin" line weight treatment is given to Jeff Levine's Hash and Beans JNL, providing a whole new take on the design - first inspired by a sign in an old photograph of a diner.
