Neuron Angled is based in the idea of Neuron, the original font designed in 2012 by Corradine Fonts' team, keeping from its predecessor the proportions and slight narrowness. In this version the rounded edges are replaced by sharp contours and flat endings. A broader typographic system is proposed in Neuron Angled to obtain a versatile and modern typeface without missing its original distinctive style. The neutral aspect of the family allows its application in a wide range of projects specially in those related with branding, signage and editorial design. The Neuron Angled family consists of four styles with eight weights each one, for a total of thirty two fonts. The different fonts of the family are not just complementary to each other, but can be used to complement the original version of Neuron. The first plain weight of Cutoff was designed in 2005 to be used in Miele, an independent Italian free magazine. The need was for an elegant, unusual and legible semi-serif with contemporary flavour. I was fascinated by the deconstructivist work of Jeff Keedy (Hard Times Thick), Phil Baines (Can You, You Can) and Otl Aicher (Rotis), so my aim was to get the feeling of a cut transitional typeface; at the same time felt the exigence to work on the whole shape of the glyphs, in order to soften the “90s deconstructivist” effect and obtain a more balanced and readable design. In the last years I further worked on the typeface adding the other styles, extending the character set and refining the letterforms. Finally the precious collaboration with URW++ brought in 2010 to a complete OpenType Pro font family, with multilingual and advanced typographic features. Fulvio Bisca, July 2010

Dignus was inspired in two clever and famous typefaces: Bank Gothic and Microgramma. Bank Gothic designed by Morris Fuller Benton for ATF in 1930. Microgramma typeface designed by Alessandro Butti and Aldo Novarese for Nebiolo in 1952. Those typefaces were based on a stable rectangular shape with rounded corners, denoting the constructivist heritage and technological spirit of '50. Eirinn was designed by Norbert Reiners for Linotype in 1994. Its forms are based on those of Irish scripts of the 7th and 8th centuries, an example of which can be found in the Book of Kells in Dublin. Characteristic of this style are for example the lower case f with its short cross stroke on the base line and long cross stroke above, the unusual form of the g, and the t, whose form is almost like that of a c. This style consisted of a mixture of lower case and capital letters at the time of its conception, but Eirinn has a full set of both lower case and capital alphabets. At first glance the viewer is reminded of ancient and indecipherable writings of the Celts before the forms of our contemporary letters and words become evident. Eirinn will lend a touch of mysticism and secrecy to any text.

Eknaton echoes the tradition that started with Napoleon's Egyptian campaign 1798, and the simultaneous looting of Egyptian art. FF Cocon’s designer, Evert Bloemsma (1958—2005) described it as a “serious typeface”. Despite first impressions, the description holds up well. Since its 2001 release, FF Cocon has been used in an astoundingly wide variety of design applications. At large sizes, FF Cocon works as a display face, with beautiful detailing. And at small sizes, it remains surprisingly readable. The lowercase letters a, b, d, g, h, m, n, p, q, r and u, were drawn without spurs, as Bloemsma made an attempt to erase every trace of handwriting; even “normal,” neutral sans serif typefaces still retain elements in their letterforms like this. Bloemsma wanted none of it. Although a difficult starting point for a typeface, this proved successful. Bloemsma’s design is a family of rounded yet rather asymmetrical forms with details reminiscent of brush-strokes, but that were not made with a brush in hand. In spite of its claim to seriousness, FF Cocon is a family of seductive, voluptuous styles. The original FF Cocon had two widths—normal and condensed. Later, a more compact Extra Condensed version was introduced, as well as italics.

Edgar No. 9 is a heavy baroque slab serif and although it shares the underling skeleton of 'Big Boy', it is a much more compact in overall proportions and spacing. It combines the proportions and rhythm of a sans serif font with the high contrasts and flexed strokes of script faces, while the open counters also ensure optimal legibility. Tom Grace focuses on providing subtle differentiations in his cuts and, as a consequence, this font family has its own individual structure: there are A and B variants of the basic forms regular, italic, bold and bold italic, and a display version for use in titles that also comes in A and B variants. Since the release of these fonts most typefaces in the Scangraphic Type Collection appear in two versions. One is designed specifically for headline typesetting (SH: Scangraphic Headline Types) and one specifically for text typesetting (SB Scangraphic Bodytypes). The most obvious differentiation can be found in the spacing. That of the Bodytypes is adjusted for readability. That of the Headline Types is decidedly more narrow in order to do justice to the requirements of headline typesetting. The kerning tables, as well, have been individualized for each of these type varieties. In addition to the adjustment of spacing, there are also adjustments in the design. For the Bodytypes, fine spaces were created which prevented the smear effect on acute angles in small typesizes. For a number of Bodytypes, hairlines and serifs were thickened or the whole typeface was adjusted to meet the optical requirements for setting type in small sizes. For the German lower-case diacritical marks, all Headline Types complements contain alternative integrated accents which allow the compact setting of lower-case headlines. Edita is a gentle typeface, humanistic in concept yet with a contemporary feel, where softness and fluidity play a very important role. This can be seen especially in its italics, which are loosely based on handwriting. This book typeface family is intended to be used in books where text is set together with photographs and other graphic elements. However, Edita is a general book typeface, versatile enough to be used in many other contexts, from novels to promotion material. Edita’s large character set, covering most languages which use Latin script, and styles give the designer the possibility to work with a big typographic palette, allowing complex typesetting with several levels of information. This is further enhanced by the two optically corrected weights Edita Small and Small Italic. They have been particularly designed for their use in very small type sizes, such as in captions and notes. They differ in having a slightly bigger x-height, heavier stems, reduced contrast, and carefully drawn ink-traps to ensure legibility at sizes as small as 5 pt. Additionally, their extenders are shorter to save space which allows text to be set with tighter leading.

Spirited, unaffected and buoyant, the ITC Oldrichium type family pays homage to the calligraphy and typeface designs of Czech designer Oldrich Menhart. “I came upon one of Menhart's typefaces over a decade ago,” says George Thompson, designer of ITC Oldrichium. “I've been collecting examples of his work ever since.” Thompson was born in Chicago and grew up in north-west Indiana. “While I've been an educator and general graphic designer for over 30 years, lettering and type design have always been an important part of my work,” he says. Thompson now spends much of his free time designing typefaces. ITC Oldrichium is a subtle melding of the shapes and proportions of Menhart's Manuscript typeface, the energetic strokes of his calligraphy, and Thompson's own design skills. The result is a distinctive, powerful, and exceptionally versatile typeface family. Praxis™ was designed in 1976 by Gerard Unger for the German technology corporation Dr.-Ing Rudolf Hell. Praxis is the sans serif counterpart to Demos, another early digital type designed by Unger, who is an accomplished Dutch typographer and teacher. Praxis and Demos share important characteristics, such as open counters, a tall x-height, and blunt stroke terminations. Both faces have very little thick/thin variation, which facilitates smooth linear enlargement and reduction. And like Demos, Praxis is a flexible and legible typeface that works well in small point sizes and on low-quality paper (office documents, newsletters, newspapers, etc.). The new Linotype® Devanagari typeface is a traditional text face now available in five weights (from Light to Black) and suitable for a wide variety of print and digital uses. A compact design, Linotype Devanagari also provides economy of space where textual real estate is at a premium. In addition, its large character set enables the setting of Hindi, Marathi, Nepali and is suitable for Sanskrit passages. The design’s open counters ensure high levels of legibility at small sizes and at modest resolution. The history of Linotype Devanagari is quite extensive. Inspired by the late 19th and early 20th century Nirnaya Sagar designs, it was originally designed in 1977 by Mathew Carter for phototypesetting systems. It was then revised and expanded for digital typesetting by the Linotype letter-drawing studio headed by Georgie Surman under the art direction of Fiona Ross. This new, enhanced revival was designed by Lisa Timpi and Gunnar Vilhjálmsson with Fiona Ross as a consultant.
