The original source of design for Sign Sans JNL was an image online of an old New York drinking establishment called the Lenox Lounge. The metal channels encasing the neon had an unusual "feel" to some of the letters. While the original E,G and U of the sign looked "interesting", they didn't quite fit the font's layout. Those letters were scrapped for more traditional versions of them.

The idea about Phenotype was to achieve a unique visual effect by touching serifs. Characters form ligatures, but every combination looks different. Touching serifs form connecting character images, e.g. like logotypes on old refrigerators or oldtimer cars, something like the fonts of Leslie Carbarga. The design idea is based on monospaced and heavy serif fonts like Courier, Isonorm Memphis or Rockwell. However, obviously, Phenotype is not a monospaced typeface.

An image spotted in an online auction online of a 1940 Milton Bradley child's activity set consisting of wooden letters formed the basis for School Activities JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. Pendleton JNL was created from some scant images found on military machinery housed at the Marine Corps Mechanized Museum at Camp Pendleton, California. The photos were provided by Brian Platzer, a volunteer at the base who specializes in equipment restoration. Having used other stencil fonts by Jeff Levine, Brian thought the design of these hand-crafted markings might make another addition to Jeff's vast library of vintage stencil alphabets.

From 1958 to 1964, one of ABC-TV’s popular shows was the detective series “77 Sunset Strip”. Based in Los Angeles, the fictional detective agency was located next door to Dino’s Lodge, (partly owned by Dean Martin and actually located at 8532 Sunset). It was originally known as the Alpine Lodge. The adjacent building where Stuart Bailey and Jeff Spencer’s private detective service was located in fact housed a popular modeling agency. The ‘77’ address did not exist outside of the realm of the series. However, a wonderful sign with Art Deco-influenced lettering graced the set (on the wall of the office foyer) saying “Bailey & Spencer Private Investigators Suites 101-102”. A screen capture of this sign served as the working model for Private Eye JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Aeroport is a new typeface in the spirit of both German geometric sans serifs and Swiss neogrotesques. Its deliberately wide proportions and relatively short capitals account for the excellent way the type carries the line. Its short ascenders and descenders allow for very tight leading. When used in large point sizes, Aeroport reveals its industrial ancestry and its unconventional design: the somewhat unbalanced top of the lowercase a, the capital B that has deliberately not been compensated optically, the overly wide capital M. In smaller sizes the type creates a starkly different effect: its measured widths and low contrast make a text setting appear neutral and homogenous. This versatility is what makes Aeroport a multipurpose sans serif suitable for a wide variety of typographic applications. The family includes four weights with their italics and a monospased style. Character set includes an alternate lowercase a, two sets of figures and currency symbols, uppercase punctuation, and a set of arrows. Hello, friends! I have a good news! At last I have finished working on my Antique Initials color font. Wow! It was a long and hard work because every initial is unique. I sketched each letter of the font very scrupulously from scratch. Each letter is uniquely designed and has a unique flower pattern in the background. I used a pale old color palette to color these letters. There came out two font variants: a black and white and a nice colored one.
