Back when OpenType hadn't yet opened and Apple was developing the Line Layout Manager called GX Typography I created a test font that I name after my stepdaughter, Kristen (now ITC Kristen). Not wanting to offend my wife I started on a font project and gave her name to this new set of glyphs, Roberta. Unfortunately, the name was already in use so I needed to find another name for the fonts. After September 11th I decided that there were people I'd met during my life who were truly cut from the cloth of the hero. Master Sargent McLemore of the 75th Ranger Battalion was one of these people. I met the Sarge when I was in basic training at Fort Gordon. I saw him 2 weeks before he died in 1970. All of the heroes we see on the silver screen pale in comparison to this man. John Wayne and Clint Eastwood both have played the type well, both could have taken lessons from the Sarge.

Soul Leo ist a special Version of my font „Soul“ (soul ultra black). For a long Time i want to make a Font like this. Before FL6 that was impossible. I know it is a big File Size for a Font with all the Graphics but i need a Font like this for a LadyProjekt. And so i did it myself. I hope you like it as i do!

Due to some grease on a menu, I misread "Spicy Avocado" as "Spacy Avocado" which led me to the name of this font. I love Avocados and I love things that are a bit spacy, and I love the combination of these two! Space Avocado is my handdrawn, layered headline font. Mix the layers or use them as a single font - you choose!

Soul Skull ist a special Version of my Font „Soul“ (soul ultra black). For a long Time i want to make a Font like this. Before FL6 that was impossible. I know it is a big File Size for a Font with all the Graphics but i need a Font like this for a Halloween Projekt. And so i did it myself. I hope you like it as i do! Say hello to Boyish & Weird! (I actually don't know what boyish is, but I do like how that word looks with these letters.) I had a lot of fun making this weird little font. It has oval cutouts, heavy lines, and plenty of whimsical details.

I started this font on a Monday and I finished it the Monday after, so I guess the name is right! Another Monday started off as a bit of doodling (with a Sharpie pen) on a piece of paper. Before I knew it, I had a complete glyph set and it looked nice. Another Monday is a bit messy, uneven and maybe even a little weird, but it will look good on postcards, packaging and labels.

I'm Andrea, creator at Nirmalagraphics and I want to present my latest font called "Kidszania". I took the name from a children's playground filled with writings posted on the wall. I found a child's writing style that is funny, looks clean and natural. I tried a rough sketch of a font that resembled the writing of the child, then I modified it to become the "Kidszania" font. This font can be used for any needs, especially children-themed designs.

This typeface came out as a side idea while I was working on one logotype. Suddenly I came up with an idea of creating “tuned” version of the typeface, based on that logo. The “tuning” turned me in a completely different direction and in a few hours of haste I was looking at a completely different typeface. A few days later I made this font available for free, since it wasn't meant to be at all :-). A few months later, I saw my typeface used in the menu in one pizzeria. I was amazed and glad and happy and proud, all at the same time. Oh, by the way: the logo I was working on was of different style and even of another stem’s widths. So, this is truly a font of it’s own design. Naftalin has both Latin and Cyrillic sets, since it was used with both.

I really like Wales; I like the culture, the people and the language. I also like the Welsh legends, especially the ones about King Arthur and Merlin. I am reading a book about Arthur right now, so when I was working on this font, I wanted to give it a Welsh name. Caerphilly is a town in Southern Wales and is home to an immense 13th century castle (Castell Caerffili). Caerphilly font is based on a 16th century manuscript. I kept the glyphs rough, to give it ‘ye olde’ look. Comes with a hoard of diacritics, a bunch of double letter ligatures and some alternate glyphs as well.

I traveled a lot: in the beginning on my own, later as a tour guide. I always used the English word ‘abroad’ to describe a trip to a foreign country, but I noticed that the English, Australians and New Zealanders preferred the word ‘overseas’. I then realised that they all lived on an island, so most of the foreign countries for them were across the sea. I had to think of that when I made this font! Overseas is a brush font with a certain rough elegance to it. I made it using poster paint and a brush. Use if for posters, product packaging and book covers.

I love riding English double decker buses! I haven’t been on one lately, but for some reason I had an image of a red double decker bus in my head when I made this font. Doubledecker is a bold, cartoon-like, handmade font. It comes in regular and dots, plus a bonus doodle font called Doubledecker Stuff. Use it for any design that needs a tad of loud, a pinch of unusual and a wee bit of polka.

Back in the nineties I had a deck of Tarot cards. It was part interest and part curiosity, but I also liked the look of them. My readings were just for fun; I thought it was all a joke, but when people started to return for more readings (because what I had predicted actually happened), I quit. That was way out of my comfort zone! Fortune Teller is a nice brush font. I made it with one of my late father in law’s Chinese brushes and ink. It comes with all diacritics and a set of alternate glyphs. If you buy this font, you will meet with a tall and handsome stranger and you will win the lottery. Guaranteed! Haha!

A couple of years ago, I walked the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail in Japan. At the start of the walk, I stayed in a nice guesthouse in Tanabe city, which lies in Wakayama prefecture. I wouldn’t mention all of this, if it didn’t have something to do with the font name: Wakayama prefecture is THE mandarin orange (Mikan) growing area of Japan and the owner of the guesthouse had just picked a bagful of mikan, which he shared with me. So, I had to think of that when I made this font. Mikan is a nice, rounded family of fonts. Both styles come with alternative a’s (and accented a’s), which some people prefer for Children’s books.

DF Mercat is a tribute to the famous marketplace situated at ‘La Rambla’ in Barcelona's historic centre. It is a picture font containing over 240 illustrations of fish, crustacean, clams, poultry, game, meat, sausages, herbs, vegetables, fruit, bread, butter, a variety of cheese, wines and spirits, small dishes, drinks (coffee, beer, soft drinks), ice cream, pastry, etc.

Party Doodles Too is the companion font to the popular font Party Doodles. 29 fun icons including a tray of champagne glasses, appetizers, balloons, pinwheel, stork with a baby, ace of hearts playing card, top hat and tunes, dice, bowling ball and pins, gifts, party umbrellas, cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, lollipop, drinks, corkscrew, noise makers, banners and candy.

Cursivica is a decorative font. Its letters are an odd mixture of script forms and block letters straightening and slimness. Cursivica supports several writing systems and besides supports extended Latin characters, also it contains extended Cyrillic (including Tatar letters), Greek alphabet and Hebrew. This font will perfectly fit for invitation letter design, packaging of cosmetic products, creams, etc.

Backwash AOE is a typeface I drew up back in 2000 inspired by various graffiti artists. Coming across all of my sketches recently and seeing a trend lately in graffiti inspired styles, I finally came around to finishing it up digitally for release. I love the break the rules, wildchild aspect, of graffiti lettering. And while this typeface is nothing like the wilder inspirations that I spawned this typeface from, it has a more legible direction to it, retaining just the flavor of the originals. I hope you enjoy it.

When I started working on this font, I had the radio on. Ed Sheeran was singing his song ‘Castle On The Hill’ and when I looked at this new font of mine, I couldn’t help but notice it had a bit of a medieval look. So I named it Castle On The Hill. COTH is a very lively, messy handpainted serif. It was made with a Japanese brush pen. I actually had a different look in mind, but this is what came out of the pen and I quite liked its looks. It is especially useful for children’s book covers, apps and posters, but be my guest and use it as you like. All it needs is a designers’ touch, a nice tune and a sunset.

Unnerving JNL is a distorted/distressed version of Adhesive Serif Letters JNL (of which the original design was modeled after some vintage gummed letters used for signage). This new variant evokes a feeling of apprehension, dread or fear and can be applied to any project with a spooky or sinister theme. Unnerving JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Alimentary (adjective): relating to nourishment or sustenance. If you've seen my other fonts, you know I tend to lean into food-based names. This name has to do with food and science combined, so it's double nerdy in the ways I like to be nerdy! I started with Alimentary Medium, which was inspired by my shorter, wider font MacGuffin - I wanted something taller, narrower, with a hip and retro feel. When I finished the Medium weight, I felt like I wanted a Light weight. Then a Heavy weight. Then I figured, "what the heck," and made an outline version of the Medium weight too. In the end, I wound up with four members of the Alimentary family, each with over 700 glyphs! Not only do they all have the basics (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and tons of punctuation), but they also each have 330 characters for European language support, and a limited selection of Greek, Coptic, and Cyrillic characters. Plus a double handful of alternates and ligatures to add a little variety to your designs! And of course, all of the Alimentary fonts are super-smoothed, with reduced nodes and clean curves, so whether you're cutting them out, printing them, engraving them, or using them in a way I haven't even thought of, these fonts will be sharp and crisp!

SF Groove Machine Pro, a typeface that's just as groovy as Johnny Bravo himself! This font family is so happening in a far-out way. Well, at least we think so.

It seems black crayons are out of stock where I live. I can buy all the colors I want, except black ones… I really needed a crayon, so I bought this ridiculously expensive professional marker crayon ($14 for 1!!!) and created this font. Use it for… well, uhm, dunno… book covers, product packaging and restaurant menus? Just have a ball!

Sunwind is not really made to write long copy. It is a font for shopsigns and short sentences that need that hot, sunny and windy touch. And that is how I got around to designing it: I saw some letters on a shopsign in Cannes when driving into town. I shouted at my son Julius: "Quick take a picture of that sign, the blue one." That's what he did, only he used the macro setting, so I had a very small sign but lots of nice background. Anyway I got the basic idea! Then I made a lot of sketches and this is what came out. I added a smallcaps set and I also made some initials as a rough version, so they look like written with a brush on heavygrain paper. Swinging that brush is yours truly Gert Wiescher

Abagail Jackson is a wild-looking face that was one of my early designs. I had no particular use in mind when I designed it and I no longer remember what inspired this whimsical font.

I can’t remember when I had a true lazy morning.. I was a looong time ago, before I had children! Even now, when I’m down with the flu, I can’t stay in bed for too long - it really seems like a waste of time! Lazy Morning is a nice handwritten font. I made it with a Sharpie pen. It comes with all diacritics and double letter ligatures for you to play with.

Lemons here and lemons there - I really love lemons! I use them in foods, deserts and drinks. I even eat them just for the taste of it! And, I name a lot of my fonts something with lemon! This Lemon font has 3 different versions of each lowercase letter and comes in both Regular, Outside and Inside versions - use them as single fonts, or mix them for nice results! Go go Lemon Smash!

I never needed to digitize this early design from 1988. I found it in a drawer underneath layers of dozens of other type designs. The drawings were made with ink on paper, about 15 cm high, meticulously executed and retouched separate glyphs for a primitive photo-lettering. I used a photographic magnifier to set words and lines in my darkroom. In 2018 I decided to make a font out of it just for fun...

I wanted to combine a classical antiqua with corners and edges. I was convinced this combination would create a new, a fresh design of types. At the beginning I used the forms from "Goudy Old Style", later I modified the sizes, the widths of the letters, the x-height and their forms in general. At the moment the Easton Family consists of 3 styles called Easton Serif, Easton Semiserif and Easton Sans.

Roughcast is a kind of outside plaster, composed of cement and pebbles. It’s not the best looking plaster and it is estimated that in the UK, a roughcast outer reduces the value of a house by 5%. I am in the middle of renovating our old farm, but I won’t cover it in roughcast! Roughcast font is actually quite an attractive brush font. I made it with a brush I found hiding underneath my stove (where it had been for a while). I cleaned it and used it to make a couple of fonts, including Roughcast. Roughcast is best used for packaging, book covers and posters.

NewYorkerType was one of the first typefaces I tried my hand at in 1985. I meant it as a revival of the typeface used by the New Yorker magazine. I did not scan it in, I just looked at the type and redrew it completely by hand. So it is not just a copy, but rather a redesign. Only much later did I come to know, that there is a bundle of similar typefaces of that period. Rea Irvin's design for New-Yorker magazine was just one of them, but the best. Valentine Soul is a romantic and delicate handwritten font. Dainty and joyful, this font will be ideal for writing wedding invitations, cards or any other design that may need a dreamy, personalized touch! This font is PUA encoded which means you can access all of the glyphs and swashes with ease!

The idea of symmetry came to me when I was lookig for a geometric sans font. None of the things that I found did have the mathematically perfect symmetry. So, I went ahead and created one. I have used complex mathematical equations to get the perfect angle in every letter. Diameter comes with two styles square corner and rounded corner, each with regular and bold weights.

In 1994 I took a picture of an old movie marquee in Times Square, New York City. 7 years later, I decided to design a typeface based on the big plastic letters found in those old marquees. I scanned in the picture I took and began to draw the letterforms. Like most of my font designs, the initial inspiration came from an urban environment.

I have a lot of options to choose from, and it's hard to decide. For example, if I use "Thin" for the body text, I might make the title slightly larger and use "ExLight," and for the headings, I could use "Regular" or something similar. I could also stick to one font weight, like "Light," and differentiate the text using various sizes. This font is designed for enjoying the process of "indecisiveness," so please feel free to wander and deliberate extensively.

For some reason I had to think of Moby Dick (the classic book by Herman Melville) when I was busy working on this font. No, I don’t live near the sea, nor do I have a pet whale. It’s just one of those things… Whalebone (named after Captain Ahab’s prosthetic leg) is a handmade, all caps brush font. It wasn’t actually made with a brush; I used a broken satay skewer and Chinese ink. Whalebone comes with discretionary ligatures for double letter combinations.

Bushing is a quick serif experiment going for open light display type. For years I have always stopped and really liked what I saw with fonts like the original Cushing from the turn of the 20th century. This time the desire for a font was stirred by Felici's article in CreativePro on fonts from the beginning of the 20th century, especially his captures of Cushing No. 2 and the version commissioned for Norwood press from ATF. I'm not interested in historically accurate reconstructions. My desire is for the general feel I get when I see a font. As a result, Bushing has little to do with Cushing (other than the last six letters). But it is a Serif font with small serifs and a huge x-height with a very open feel. I like it. I hope you do also. I made it into a limited display version of OpenType Pro. I added small caps and oldstyle figures, as I can hardly work without them. But ligatures seemed silly for this one.

After a lot of time sitting at my desk, creating fonts and trying to figure out how my new software works, I really like to work out a bit. The only thing that I do not like is the music they play at the gym; it is usually a selection of poppy tunes that appeals to a large audience. But not to me. I prefer my death metal - and eighties music, as it brings back a lot of good memories. So, I bought myself some ear buds and installed a music streaming app on my phone. Yes, I know, I am probably the last person on earth who discovered streaming... One day, during a workout session, I listened to a list of eighties music and one song that I had forgotten about started playing: Rappers Delight by The Sugarhill Gang. When I started working on the font, I had to think about the song and named it Square Beat. Square Beat font, other than the name implies, is a rounded, handmade font, ideally suited for books and magazines aimed at a young audience, toy packaging or posters. It comes with great language support, including Vietnamese.

THE SPARK Uniform started as a spark of inspiration one day while I was shopping at the store. I was looking at some typography on a can of dog food and the idea popped into my head, “What if there was a geometric typeface with a circular O that when condensed, the O became straight sided, instead of becoming an oval?” I quickly sketched out the concept of Uniform and liked what I saw, the only problem was I was working full time as a graphic designer, and as a newly married husband, I didn’t have any time to make the extensive typeface. LETDOWN A year and a half later, shortly after the birth of my first child, my boss cut my hours in half. Although stressful, I saw this event as an opportunity to finally have time to complete the typeface I had in my head. I spent a couple months putting together a Kickstarter campaign, thinking it would be a smashing success, and I would be able to live off the donations long enough to complete the typeface. Wrong! The campaign was a flop and I was left discouraged and dejected, thinking that the great idea I had in my head would never become a reality... PERSEVERANCE At the end of the year, in December 2013, I decided to go for it and make this new type family no matter what it took. I began waking up a few hours before work each morning (getting only four hours of sleep each night) carefully crafting each individual glyph day by day. After nine months of hard work (and just about killing myself in the process!) in October 2014, I finally had a finished product ready to be released to the public! THE PINNACLE Fast forward a few years and now Uniform has reached it's pinnacle, Uniform Pro. Uniform Pro now offers extended language support including Cyrillic and Greek character sets, integrated italic styles, additional weights, and additional OpenType features.
