I can best describe the Thaun family as a general purpose display family, inspired by Scholtz Fonts' " "Delikat". I wanted to produce a display font that was more robust than Delikat, without losing the delicacy of the original. In order to do this I thinned solid, curved strokes toward the baseline, and let them dwindle to gently rounded points. As a graphic designer I became aware that designs that used a number of styles from the same family seemed to work well. This was easily done using a standard sans serif font such as Arial or Helvetica. However, when a different look is needed, display fonts do not always have a the variety of different styles that are necessary to produce a coherent design. Thus with Thaun, the challenge was to create a coherent family based on a display font. The archetype of this family is Thaun Regular with six different widths forming closely related styles. There are also two variants of the archetype i.e. Thaun Black & Thaun Rough to add variety to the primary style. An additional sub-family, Thaun Accord, appears in two widths. Thaun Jazz is a wide three dimensional variation. Thaun has all the features usually included in a fully professional font. Language support includes all European character sets, Greek symbols and all punctuation. Opentype features include automatic replacement of some characters and discretionary replacement of stylistic alternatives.

ITC Kumquat is the work of American designer Eric Stevens. He started with the logo for his company, Tower of Babel Design, and expanded upon the Mesopotamian look to create a typeface to match. Stevens imagined drawing figures in the sand with a stick and how this method would change the way one usually draws characters, usually with lines replacing curves. Most characters are slim but a few, like the uppercase A and L, were made to contrast with the rest. ITC Kumquat is a great display typeface for anything which should have an antiquated feel.""

Boutique is a reinterpretation of Modern typefaces that posits an alternative present for the genre. Our initial version of Boutique explored the relationship between Modern typefaces and Modernism. Built upon a Didone Skeleton, we amplified its geometric character and stripped away ornament to create an elegant sans-serif with an idiosyncratic edge. We have since overhauled Boutique to create a comprehensive family. Adding a serif and italic in three optical variations for small (S), medium (M), and large (L) applications. Good Song is a cursive font based on the USA's teaching script. It can be written in Carolinian, Sioux, Oʼodham, Southern Athabaskan, Hawaiian, and Samoan from USA. It can also be written in Dutch, Maltese, Aymara, Mapuche, Rapa Nui, and other languages. This font family is cute. The style is wide and rounded. It has wide and open loops. The strokes are drawn with a round cap tool, with no contrast. It is cursive and connected. The form is upright. It is easy to read in the USA. Part H has capitals with High starts. Part L has capitals with low starts.

The birth of the monospaced types dates back to the past. There was a need for the creation of typesets for typewriters. The difficulty was to align the different glyphs in the same width. This led to particular problems with letters like "M" and "l"; the former seemed to be squeezed into the same width of all letters and the second one appeared way too stretched. Despite - or perhaps because of - the impression of the typewriter it is still popular with Graphic Designers. The Ingrid Mono font family with a high range of glyphs and symbols has that special appearance.

I just loved the design idea behind this font, but the original font had a lot of ugly artifacts - so I have completely redrawn ALL the letters, before expanding the character set. The lowercase has been redrawn with a higher x-height, making the font even more usable (with more "normal" word shapes). Original Quality: I often see these words on various objects - from T-shirts to sprinkles and cookies. In fact, I see this term so often that I decided to name a font after it. Original Quality font is an adaptation of an older font of mine called Butterfly Ball. It is a totally different typeface, but I hope it hasn’t lost its original quality… ;-) Comes with all the diacritics you want, plus a handful of cute stylistic alternates.

I like cookies. Especially butter cookies and ginger nuts. The word cookie comes from the Dutch word ‘koekje’ - which means exactly the same. Cookie Crumble is a cute little font that I made on a rainy day. I just needed something that looked and sounded happy and I guess it applies to this font. Cookie Crumble comes with a bunch of alternates, a full set of diacritics and a bit of sunshine to chase away your rainy day.

Knip, in Dutch, means ‘cut’. You can tell by the glyphs that I made this font by cutting out the shapes from black paper, gluing it onto white paper and photographing the result so I could digitalise it! I don’t make too many cut out fonts, as it is a lot of work and it often leads to nothing. Besides that, I depend on the paper supply from my kids and they happened to have black paper this time!

I have been making some clean, connected fonts lately and when I was working on another one of these, I felt the need for something chaotic. So, Scapegoat was born. I used a round nibbed steel pen and Chinese ink and the result is quite a messy font. It may look chaotic, but as Nietzsche once said: ‘from chaos comes order’. Amen to that! Comes with double letter ligatures for the lower case and a whole lot of diacritics.

Looking back on my production to date, neither so little nor so large, it does not come as a surprise to find myself now introducing Lady René. A brief review of my career would read as follows: graphic designer graduated from Buenos Aires University, a 10-year professorship in Typography in the same institution, an illustrator in the making. For almost 15 years now my work has focused on the design of editorial pieces, predominantly books and CD sleeves. Typography proper has always been central to my research projects. All my obsessions eventually embodied as much the search for a perfect, spotless text as for a daring and provoking one. In my view, "how-to-say-something" ranks highest amongst a graphic designer’s responsibilities. It was in this vein that I called in the written word to illustrate, to draw, to narrate. Why not reverse the saying and proclaim that “a word is worth a thousand images”? If so, one single word could trigger endless meanings, associations, ideas, and memories in every reader’s mind. Language, we know, has a strong power and is a living expression of a culture. In my illustrations, letters and drawings reunite in one synergy said and unsaid, the finiteness of the message and the freedom of the free reading. And this is how and when, Lady René, my first born type font sees the light of day conceived out of a love of illustration and a reverence for the written word, recalling the whimsicality of the handmade drawing and reflecting its sensitive, warmth and spontaneity. Enabled by the characteristics of Open Type and the hard, outstanding work of designer Ale Paul, Lady René succeeds in composing texts in a simple, organic way by means of its contextual and stylistic alternates, swash characters, ligatures and connecting words. A bundle of decorative miscellanea completes the set of signs, enabling the user considerable freedom to create new typographic landscapes.
