Mesclo is our personal take on the geometric typefaces genre. With mono-linear appearance, humanistic elements and subtle hints of Art Deco, Mesclo is a timeless typeface with dramatic oblique terminals and a welcoming, friendly roundness. The outstanding dynamic rhythm and legibility of the text contrasts with the inflexible geometry of the unusual complementary caps-only typefaces, specially developed to fulfil and enrich this type family.

Lisboa Tamil is a humanist sans-serif typeface based on the same design as the original Latin version (2005). Originally designed for small sizes, this font family can work as display typeface where there own calligraphic style gives elegant low contrast personality between organic and solid design approach. Tamil is an Indic script, spoken in southern India, Sri Lanka and Singapore. Latin transliteration characters were also included.

Wasp is a super-display typeface, which in a few words can be described as well-structured calligraphic humanist sans. It's come to life as an idea to make calligraphy-oriented sans but consciously avoid any horizontal middle strokes. Wasp has a few alternates for each letter, which (despite its unruly nature) allows for finding a good-looking solution in almost any typographic situation.

Named after the German Renaissance astronomer, Kepler is a contemporary type family designed by Robert Slimbach in the tradition of classic modern 18th century typefaces. Modern typefaces are known for their cool intellectual quality, but Slimbach's Kepler multiple master captures the modern style in a humanistic manner. It is elegant and refined with a hint of Oldstyle proportion and calligraphic detailing that lends it warmth and energy.

Matita Geometric is part of a larger type family developed from 2005-2019 with handwriting and teaching in mind. A humanistic geometric sans serif in five weights containing mathematical symbols, roman numerals, fractions, superior-& inferior numerals, tabular & proportional figures. The family share proportions and weights to ensure all fonts (family members) work together well. Matita Geometric is also a very basic typeface suitable for many purposes.

The Seol Sans design offers a fresh palette for designers working with the Korean alphabet, particularly those looking to pair Latin and Korean alphabet (or Hangul) forms without creating typographic friction. The choices for Hangul fonts that work well with humanist Latin typefaces are limited. As Monotype’s first original Korean design, the Seol Sans typeface is a humanist take on the traditional rigid and hard designs of Hangul characters. Beatrix Antiqua is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Francesco Canovaro. Beatrix Antiqua is part of the Beatrix Family that takes its inspiration from the classic Roman monumental capital model: its capitals are directly derived from the stone carvings in Florence Santa Croce Cathedral - where the serifs are often removed while keeping the variable width strokes. CT Ausetan is a typeface designed for perfect reading in continuous text. With humanist proportions and calligraphic details but actual, both in appearance and in function. Blumenkind is a fresh, bright, humanist script font radiating boundless optimism and friendly enthusiasm. Its strokes are based on the rounded triangle, which lends it a dynamic bounce and a confident human touch. Blumenkind is inspired by an instance of metal-strip lettering found on the B�rgermeister Kornmesser Siedlung residential building complex in Berlin from the 1960s. The font name, being German for �flower child�, aims to capture the positive zeitgeist of that time evident in the letters. Blumenkind comes with extensive language support, tight kerning, attractive ligatures, and subtly varied alternate shapes for some of the most commonly doubled letters � and all that in three linear weights and one calligraphic weight. The Colville fonts began their existence in 2015 as a project-specific typeface, made to be used on a custom-made headstone commemorating Canadian artist Alex Colville (1920-2013) and his wife Rhoda Wright. For that purpose, some initial shapes were modelled after letters Colville himself had used on a Governor General gold medal he designed in the mid-1970s. From there started a year-long project that culminated in a set of four comprehensive fonts ranging in weight from Light to Bold, each containing over 750 glyphs to cover Pan European language support, stylistic alternates, five sets of figures, automatic fractions, and some ornaments rooted in Alex Colville’s art. These fonts exhibit a strong art deco aesthetic that has always been a favourite of architects, metal casters, and sign makers. This is a very humanist geometry alternating from the precisely calculated to the curvy and lithe, subtle contrast, flat stroke stops, and airy proportions that make for a counterspace built for accommodation and comfort. The breadth and timeless humanism of the Colville set makes fit in a variety of applications, from straightforward headlines, titles, and emphasis captions, to branding and packaging.

An open-hearted humanist sans-serif. Playful and friendly. Faible is everybody’s darling. You cannot not like this good-natured humanist typeface. Sure, it’s a typeface for serious work—but all serious work is better when you put a smile on your face and a whistle on your lips. The typeface itself isn’t rooted in calligraphy, but there are quite some details in Faible that reference handwriting and add a friendly, humanist facet to its appearance. Suburban Collier is a dreamy, humanist demi-serif sister of Romford Stencil typeface. It was created during the COVID-19 pandemic and its name is inspired by Collier Row, a suburban area of Romford, East London (UK). Suburban Collier features subtle ligatures, an alternative ‘a’ and supports Western, Central, Southern, and Eastern European as well as Pinyin. Use it to add character to your body copy or as fancy display text.

Arkit is a ‘constructivist’ sans with a humanistic taste. Its geometric look hides an organic soul that can be felt rather than seen, as for instance in the strokes that are slightly tapered. Arkit features a big x-height and is suitable for signage and for many display applications, but it also performs well as a book face both in body copy and in captions and small-size texts.

The first photo-typesetting machine in operation, the Uhertype, was introduced in 1925. It was a combination of manual phototypesetting machine and make-up machine. The machine’s typefaces were designed by Jan Tschichold. The patents on Uhertype were bought up at the time to prevent the invention of filmsetting spreading. Jan Tschichold has been very influenced by Gill Sans (1928) for this humanistic sans serif drawn in 1933/36 for Uhertype.

Moniak Sans is a linear, humanist sans with a vertical stress axis. Distinctive for its open strokes, Moniak features generally broader typeface proportions to offer excellent readability even at small sizes. This property also supports lowercase stroke endings. The designer emphasised elegant, pure curves in the skeleton of the font, making it optically friendly and inviting in magazine headline and poster applications. Most languages using Latin script are supported.

This typeface is inspired by 60s and 70s Chilean murals and posters artwork. On the walls, big and heavy letterforms were presented pictorially for political propaganda. Muralista is a low contrast condensed typeface, similar to classic forms of the early nineteenth century humanist grotesque. A bold grotesque typeface in the best traditions of the Star Wars logo. It has clean geometric lines, a humnaist character, it combines a tech feeling with a friendly organic feeling. Will work excellently as a white text on a busy background.

Gibbs is a tough, sophisticated sans, inspired by the unique cast aluminum signs found on board the 1950s luxury liner SS United States and named for its designer, William Francis Gibbs. The design is appropriately transatlantic, somewhere in between industrial American vernacular lettering and English humanist styles. The result is both uniquely stylish and comfortably readable in both text and display sizes. Gibbs received a Type Directors Club award for excellence in 2015.

Thanks to the Quay Brothers, London, who provided me with original materials, I was able to revive Carl Otto Czeschka’s beautiful Czeschka Antiqua which was first released by Genzsch & Heyse in 1917. Since nowadays the word Antiqua rather refers to fonts with serifs, I dropped it, also because this fanciful font is a humanist sans. To get access to all ligatures, it is recommended to also activate the OT feature Discretionary Ligatures.

Oblivian Grotesque is a sans serif type family of ten weights. The typeface is based on geometric forms with bits and pieces of modern humanistic grotesque fonts. Due to the rounded edges it has a very soft / warm look and feel. It comes along with varius OpenType features such as table and old style figures. Oblivian Grotesque as an extended character set that support Central and Eastern European as well as Western European.

An original text and display type family was designed for ParaType in 2007 by Manvel Shmavonyan. The face was named after the designer’s wife. This is an open sans serif font with soft letterforms distinguished by rounded details resembling rudimentary serifs. The family contains true italics developed like in humanist sans serif fonts. Susan is well suited for short and middle range text composing as well as for use in advertising and display typography.

The Tempo font family was designed by R. Hunter Middleton and released between 1930 and 1931. The instant success of Futura in 1927 led to many similar designs, and Tempo is the version produced by the Ludlow foundry for large headlines in newpapers. Like Futura, Tempo font is basically geometric, but shows some humanistic influence. Tempo is popular for newspaper and commercial printing, and the heavy condensed font is excellent for headlines.

Occula on Behance. Occula: Specimen Manual PDF. Occula is an exploration into high-legibility type although it’s not an effort to design the ultimate typeface in terms of economy and legibility. Instead, the goal has been to strike a balance between modern curves and lively old-style rhythm – using a rational design approach without becoming monotone. Or from another point of view: being humanistic and lively without looking old-fashioned and quirky.
