It is the handwritten version of one of my favourite fonts 'hannah hannah'. I absolutely love how this turned out and the unpolished warm feeling this font has. After exploring tessellations for several years, I decided to see how many ways I could tessellate puzzle pieces. I began with a square template and used the same asymmetrical shape for all four edges. By flips or rotation each edge could be fitted in four ways. Eventually I discovered that, given this way of forming tiles, there were 15 distinct shapes that tessellate and these shapes can take a total of 96 orientations. (A note in the November 2016 issue of Mathematical Gazette has the proof for the 15 shapes.) This typeface contains those 15 shapes and 96 orientations. A pdf note here shows some of the tilings possible using only one shape in a pattern. An unlimited number of patterns are possible if shapes are mixed. There are two members of the family, a solid style that must have different colors when used and an outline style. They can be used separately or they can be used in layers with the outline style on top of the solid style. For rows to align properly, leading must be the same as point size. (Earlier tessellation fonts from IngrimayneType, the TessieDingies fonts, lack a black or filled version so cannot do colored patterns.)

One of my favorite blackletter fonts - Schwabacher - redrawn and redesigned, whereby I took care to stick to the original forms as close as possible. This font which has its roots in the 15th century represents at the most the uprising humanism in this period. BlackWhite is a titling typeface created by Ferdinay Duman in 1989 styled after the designs of the late 1980s. Like the name says, the figures emphasizes the play between dark and light. To this end, most inner spaces have been deleted. The constructed outlines of the robust figures draw the attention. In some weights, Duman split the figures horizontally, giving them a unique look. The technical and mechanical BlackWhite is perfect for generous headlines on fliers or in trendy magazines.

In 2007-8, Carolyn Puzzovio developed this OpenType typeface: Lagoon which is based on an Armenian model from the Mechitarist monastery, Venice, 1810. This project was supported by a grant from the AHRC (Arts & Humanities Research Council, UK) and won a first prize in the Granshan 08 type design competition. Oſten, Armenian digital types are designed to match the forms of Latin type characters and ‘Latinized’, by uprighting the forms; truncating ascenders and descenders and raising the x-height – but in this case the Latin characters in the OpenType font have been designed to blend in with the traditional Armenian proportions which are based on cursive forms – also incorporating some of the quirky shapes from the original model. Faithfully following the original created difficulties of ‘clashing’ characters, particularly those with long descenders, so the font contains over 100 alternative characters in the Armenian part, which will normally substitute automatically where necessary. The sloping lower case characters and upright capitals are traditional in Armenian – capitals are used less in the Armenian language. Three new characters for the Armenian unicode range are included: the Armenian dram (currency) symbol; the eternity symbol; and the index number symbol. This font which will be one of the first OpenType fonts to incorporate these newly unicoded characters.

HWT Bernice is an ornament font system designed by Marian Bantjes. The basic shapes were designed by Bantjes for the Hamilton Wood Type Museum's border stamping machine as a contemporary application for this 150 year old machine, which punches shapes into end grain wood to form continuous border patterns. The digital version expands a bit beyond the punch machine and allows designers to assemble a multitude of options using flipped and rotated variations of these 6 basic shape sets using simple keystrokes.

The idea started with the 1934 sheet music of “Mazurka Amabile”. Its hand drawn title had most of the letters rendered in a rectangular shape [‘square’ in the sign trade] that featured rounded corners and terminals made by the shape of the lettering pen nib. A few letters were rounder in design than others, so those were scrapped in favor of a more consistent character shape throughout the font. Pen Nib Square JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.
