Kilkenny is a decorative, Victorian-style font based on the metal type named Nymphic that was designed by Hermann Ihlenberg. Ihlenburg was born in Germany in 1843 where he studied art and worked for several German type foundries. He moved to the USA in 1866 and worked for the L. Johnson & Co. foundry, later MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan. American Type Founders acquired this typeface when they took over the MacKellar, Smiths & Jordan foundry and Nymphic appears in the ATF catalog of 1896. For this digital version, the character set has been expanded to include accented characters, punctuation, and currency symbols—and most everything you would expect to find in a digital font. The original metal font consisted of swash caps, upper case characters, and a “morticed” lower case, which was raised off the baseline. This mortcied form was designed to nestle inside the ornate swash caps as well as to work with the upper case. The five digital versions contained in this set are basically different configurations of these different alphabet sets, they differ as follows: Kilkenny—the original upper case version with a modified lower case that has been enlarged, shifted to align along the baseline, and given taller ascenders to give it a more “regular” appearance. Kilkenny Eureka—true to the original design with the “morticed” or superior lowercase forms. Kilkenny Swash—original swash caps with the modified lower case. Kilkenny Swash Caps—original swash caps with the original caps as the lower case. Kilkenny Swash Eureka—swash caps that have been adjusted to match the weight of the original lower case forms. The OpenType version contains all of the above, plus additional Central European and Cyrillic characters for a total of almost 1000 glyphs.

Despeinada, which means "uncombed" in Spanish, is a loose script, perfect for when you want to convey informality. Being a packaging designer, my faces are mostly oriented toward that sector, although they won't look in any way out of place in the editorial world or in advertising, for example. This face was generated in the University of Barcelona Master of Typography, in 2010, where I dictated the “Practicum” It's a very versatile design that can be used in small sizes or enlarged as needed. It won't deceive you! I think that this particular face is halfway between Mistral and Zapfino: rough but clean at the same time. None of its glyphs follow any order, nor do their weights... Gina is an unbiased humanist sans. The simple skeleton of the characters and the organic strokes are essential features to the design. It is a typeface that looks to the future while keeping an eye on classic letterforms. If we have a closer look, we will notice there is a tendency towards vertical proportions. Ascenders and descenders are long, making for a light texture in small text sizes. The type family includes 8 weights and 8 italics. There is a clear link between styles, both in the structure and shape of the letterforms. The italic counterpart uses a moderate inclination and some letters adopt characteristics of cursive forms. Besides Latin, the character set of Gina includes Cyrillic and essential features for covering current typographic needs. Tabarnak started out as an assessment and correction of an old concept by George Wilkens. The original idea was for a bold upright alphabet reminiscent of Oz Cooper’s work, but ornamented with some shocard/signage traits. That idea was radically redrawn and reinvented to become a simple 21st century font made to turn heads and induce a friendly rush. Tabarnouche is Tabarnak’s “jittery” incarnation. Aladdin Black is the 3rd member of our Aladdin Bold Font Family. This new style is extra bold and slightly rounded on the outsides of the glyphs. It is fat, fancy, fearless, forward, devilish, heavy, and stylized. Aladdin Bold was my first font introduced in 2012. I've always felt there were possibilities of adding styles to this family and something triggered the decision, so...here it is. I took much time deliberating over many of the finer details in this version of Aladdin and I hope the 'devil is in the details' for whoever decides to try on Aladdin Black.
