Do you need a hand-drawn, heavy, creative typeface? If so, WILK is perfect for you! This font was created specially for fairy tale "Little Red Riding Hood" and it was inspired by the fairy-tale's character of wolf . The typography is tight- knit and fat but also free and funny. It consists only of uppercases, but it has two up to five alternative gifs for each letter. This great choice of gifs makes WILK perfect for long texts but not only! Stupid Meeting is an all caps display sans that didn't quite get its full 8 hours of sleep. A lot of attitude went into the design process and it shows throughout the entire character set. From a distance it looks fairly pedestrian but the closer you get, the rougher it gets around the edges. It's very simple, yet extremely playful. This family is available in 3 different styles. My kids love toadstools, especially the red capped ones with the white spots (they’re called Amanita muscaria, a.k.a. fly agaric - in case you’re wondering). A couple of months ago you could find loads of them in the forest, but now they’ve all disappeared. Toadstool font will not disappear, however. It is a very legible, clean and neat text font with an uneven baseline, slightly bouncy glyphs and more diacritics than a forest has mushrooms. Use if for packaging, kids’ book covers and posters. This toadstool is the non-toxic variety, so go nuts.

Tupã is a Brazilian indigienous god of thunder. This typeface is a geometric Sans Serif based on vertical and diagonal strokes. The heavy weights are great for impact layouts and the light weights are perfect to make sutil and strong messages. Tupã has a wide character set, including Cyrillic, with Small Caps, Ligatures, regular and tabular numbers and a lot of alternates. This Font is great for tight leading, including when diacritics are involved, there are alternates and case sensitives symbols to make all blocked. And yes!, there's a Variable Font too.

Compagnon is a friend, a partner. This handmade display font will come in super handy when you are working on that book cover, or the packaging of a product. It will shine on posters and websites and it will keep you warm at night. I guess that last bit is an exaggeration… Compagnon comes in three distinct styles: a ‘regular’ version, which is a bit rough around the edges, a ‘dirty’ version, with a juicy eroded look and a polka dot version. All three have their accompanying italics.

I‘d like to introduce “Charlonka“ to you. When my daughter finished high school, she wanted to get rid of her entire school stuff. So I saved a few sheets of her beautiful handwriting and promised her to create a typeface out of it. That‘s how the idea of Charlonka was born, a typeface family out of Charlotte‘s handwriting (by the way: that‘s her name). Some characters of Charlonka have extended crossbars, like in upper case A or H, and reduced descenders, like in lower case g or y.

The main challenge with Shirah Joie was how not to design just another monoline font, and how to add liveliness while condensing the letters a little bit. Shirah Joie is an OpenType/TTF Unicode font.

Franz Kafka’s manuscripts have always been a source of inspiration for designer Julia Sysmäläinen. At first she was just interested in literary aspects but later she noticed that content and visual form can not be separated in the work of this ingenious writer. Analyzing Kafka’s handwriting at the Berlin National Library, Julia was inspired to design the typeface FF Mister – by now a well known classic. Over the years, FF Mister K became a handsome typeface family and even produced offspring: the Josef K Patterns. Some of Kafka’s most expressive letterforms were the starting point for these decorative ornaments. How do the Patterns work? Outlines and fillings correspond to the uppercase and the lowercase letters on your keyboard. You can use them separately or layer them on top of each other. If you write a line of “pattern-text” in lowercase and repeat it underneath in uppercase you get a row of fillings followed by a row of outlines. Now you can color them and then set line space = 0 to get a single line of layered colored ornaments. Alternatively, activating OpenType / stylistic set / stylistic alternates will also unite the two lines to a single layered line. Roka is a remix of the original 2010 Rika typeface. This time it's got texture and a lot more attitude.

Roelandt BT is another beautiful script font drawn by calligrapher Rob Leuschke. Perfect for informal invitations and documents, the standard semi-connecting glyphs are simple, yet elegant. Alf R. Becker was a noted sign painter, designer and the creator of hundreds of unique alphabets which were published in the trade magazine Signs of the Times during the 1930s through the 1950s. Thanks to Tod Swormstedt of ST Media [and who is also the curator of the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati], Jeff Levine received some reference material on Becker's work. Becker displayed many of his type styles within decorative panels—a popular trend in the days when signs were hand-lettered. Using the reference material as a guide, Jeff has re-drawn twenty-six sign panels for adaptation to digital print work. While the designs in themselves are not thoroughly unique to Alf Becker, he has left behind some tangible examples of how sign painters embellished their lettering work. With the use of complementary colors and tones, these panels—joined with vintage lettering - classically recreate the warm and attractive advertising of years ago.

The inhabitants of Boomtown USA have moved on -- the saloon is dry, the sheriff has hung his hat and the only visitors to the local whorehouse are tumbleweeds. Yeah, the buildings remain -- hollowed out husks carrying memories of bar room brawls, high noon shootouts and high stake poker games between outlaws -- but if you take a walk down the street be careful not to kick up too much dust... Turn the corner and you might see Ol' Toothless Joe standing on the corner sucking on a bottle of whiskey... And don't walk too slowly past the storefront of the undertaker -- that guy made his living putting strangers like you in a wooden overcoat from sunrise to sundown. Spooks and Spectres linger everywhere... there's a sign just down the road -- didn't you see it? "Ghost Town! Abandon Hope all who Enter Here!"

I am (trying to) learn Danish using an app on my phone. The grammar and vocabulary are not that difficult, as the Danish language is very close to the Dutch language. The pronunciation, however, is quite tricky. Words look simple when written down, but when pronounced, they sound very different. Take ‘pige’ (‘girl’) - it reads ‘pee-guh’, right? Well, it is pronounced ‘pee-uh’. Or how about ‘brød’ (meaning bread)? If you keep in mind that the o-slash is pronounced as the ‘i’ in bird - almost like ‘uh’, it should be br-uh-d, right? Wrong again. It is pronounced br-uh-l. Aaargghh! I will succeed, hopefully! Utroligt is a Danish word meaning ‘incredible’. It is a nice, uncomplicated all caps font. I made it with a cheap rollerball pen and some nice French paper. Comes with double letter ligatures and all the diacritics you’d like - including the danish ones.

Nothing is more iconic of Paris than its antique Metro signs, which are the inspiration for this typeface. The signs vary from station to station, some featuring plain block capitals, others the most exquisite Art Nouveau. This example falls somewhere in between. and should inject a strong gallic flavour into any design or publishing project. To recreate the Metro effect in Photoshop, set your text white on red, then go to Layer Style> Inner Shadow. Or with Paris Metro Reverse set your text red on white, then go to Layer Style> Drop Shadow.
