The origin story of HANLEY FONT COLLECTION all starts with the Script. We were designing logos and kept feeling like we needed a different kind of script, vintage feeling but not dated, and not too baseball-y or too formal. We couldn’t find exactly what we were looking for, so we decided to create it ourselves. After that we realized what we really wanted was good wood block looking lettering especially with small caps. And the collection just grew from there - a tall slim style, a monoline version of the script and of course a good sans. We topped off the group with a large selection of catchwords and extras with plenty of swirls, swashes and frames. Hanley has just enough irregularity to the edges to impart a human feel, but it’s still clean. Super versatile, all the styles work well together and can look authentically vintage or modern and hand-crafted.

The Seol Sans design offers a fresh palette for designers working with the Korean alphabet, particularly those looking to pair Latin and Korean alphabet (or Hangul) forms without creating typographic friction. The choices for Hangul fonts that work well with humanist Latin typefaces are limited. As Monotype’s first original Korean design, the Seol Sans typeface is a humanist take on the traditional rigid and hard designs of Hangul characters. A Blocky Geometric Techical typestyle Modulate began as a digitization of a film typeface from LetterGraphics in the early 70's known as "Cadence". The original specimen included standard Capitals and Lowercase, Numerals and minimal Punctuation, a bare bones character set, previous only available on film and only in an upright stance. We've fleshed out the Modulate typeface to include a full standard character set, an extended international set, and a handful of alternate character styles. Splatterpunks - A Halloween Brush Font Introducing a fresh terror this Halloween, Splatterpunks is a hand-drawn brush font inspired by the blood-soaked pages of horror comics from the 1970s and 80s. This textured all-caps lettering evokes a spine-tingling tension that will leave your readers on tenterhooks. With a creeping, stretched look like that of a surprised cat, it offers of set of diabolical tools worthy of any horror fan! Houschka Alt Pro is a carbon copy of the Houschka Pro family with one key difference: the rounded signature glyphs A & W on the default positions swap places with their straight alternates. Houschka was named after Georg Houschka, a sadly defunct confectioner’s shop in Salzburg, Austria, which had a wonderful 1930s frontage and distinctively rounded letterforms in the sign above the door. Houschka Pro is the follow up to the original Houschka type family which first appeared back in 1999. Character shapes have been improved, kerning and spacing refined, and OpenType features include CE, Baltic, Turkish & Cyrillic language support plus small caps, 3 stylistic sets, contextual alternates, ligatures and 4 sets of numerals. Houschka is a clean and legible modern sans serif typeface which shares the humanist qualities of Gill Sans and Johnston but retains a uniquely charming character of its own (particularly in signature glyphs A, G, Q, W, u & w). It has been inspired by various letterings crafted by former graphic workmen who would have had an idea of simple letter construction but did not really wanted to bother with detail sophistication. Hence the result is somewhat quaint and imperfect … if that is something you are willing to enjoy. The unique charme of this typeface lies in its lack of perfection. And yet it embodies a peculiar straight-forward strength and sobriety, a visual stubbornness which is certainly not over-used! On a cold winter's night, George Ryan, of Galápagos Design Group, began musing on the possibilities for a “truly original” sans serif typeface. What came out of his musing, and his always-present sketchpad, was ITC Adderville, a typeface whose visual impact is immediate and strong. Ryan explains how he did it: “The rounded ends of its strokes and their skewed baseline contact create an illusion of dancing feet. The tops of lowercase stems emit serif buds, suggesting transition into or out of the serifed form. The spear-like lowercase stroke terminators, along with other distinctive elements such as the stylized reticulation of the lowercase 'g' segments, the salute of that same character's spur, and the bold, non-self-conscious 'i' and 'j' dots, all contribute to the playful and unique nature of this design.” The result is a friendly, lively type family whose graduated weights -- book, medium, and heavy -- lend themselves especially well to use at small display sizes and in short blocks of text.

Good Karma (its namesake) will be extended to you as you use this new relaxed script family. Originally, produced from hand and the sumi brush of Neil Summerour, Good Karma Smooth is a smooth digitization of the original exemplars in Good Karma. Good Karma Smooth is filled with a lot of heart, reliable and genuine movements, and a wide range of letter options to befit any project needing an honest hand-lettered look. And on top of that, proceeds form the sale of this typeface will be distributed to charities and organizations intent on combatting the Covid-19 global pandemic. Each typeface comes with an additional set of stylistic alternates (upper AND lowercase) that harmonize wonderfully when you have the Opentype Ligature feature active. Additionally, special double-letter ligatures have been produced for specific combinations in need of more expressive flair, as well as a few swashes that work with the economical strokes originally produced from the sumi brush. To further expand the usefulness of this peaceful script, a separate Caps/Small Caps font has been added that provides the simple contrast needed to bring the script fonts forward. Rather than limit the personality of this script, various styles have been produced to complement the original Regular—Upright, Wide, Wide Upright, and the aforementioned Caps fonts are included in hopes of helping you find the perfect variation needed for your composition.

If Publication JNL looks very familiar, this is no accident of design. It is Jeff Levine’s rendering of De Vinne, a classic typeface designed in honor of T.L. De Vinne (circa 1890-91) and given the gentle nuance of emulating hand-set type.

Trick Pony is a typeface bastard that steals its characteristics from sans serif fonts and combines these with an ink brush appearance. The design is strictly reduced on the one hand, but on the other gets its handmade touch through varying stroke sizes.

The Toxic Brew font was initially designed to be a Halloween font, but I guess it turned out not so scary in the end. But maybe you can use it for something scary anyway? I've added several versions, and they mix very well

North Bergen is a dirty sans serif based on letterforms seen painted on a wall of a magazine store in North Bergen, New Jersey. Its unrefined, quirky forms reflect a typographic naivete and are meant to evoke a sense of hand painted signage.

ITC Gamma font is the work of designer Jovica Veljović. Named after the third letter of the Greek alphabet, ITC Gamma has almost no sharp corners. Its serifs, stroke endings and terminals are all rounded, a feature best seen in larger point sizes.

Cellophane Tape JNL is a stripped-down and slightly modified version of Eckhardt Trilinear JNL with open-ended letters. While the name Cellophane Tape JNL is nostalgic (tape is no longer made from cellophane), its still a fun, novelty font for many applications.

A makeup ad in the December, 1937 issue of Modern Screen magazine inspired Single Line Deco JNL, an Art Deco monoline which is available in both regular and oblique versions. The font is based on the hand lettered headline touting “Modern Eyes”.

A 1940s Australian song folio featuring tunes performed by singer-actress Deanna Durbin had her name hand lettered in an interesting Art Deco style sans. This became the basis for Song Folio JNL, capturing all the nuances of the original in digital form.

Hey Comrade is a very messy script font. It was made with a bamboo satay skewer (which I had soaked in ink). Hey Comrade would look good on book covers, packaging and in magazines. Comes with a 5-year plan of diacritics.

Juker is a sturdy hand-drawn slab serif with proper country manners. Warm, hospitable, and just a little bit rough, Juker will lend its comfortable touch to a variety of projects. Activate the stylistic alternates feature to introduce slight variations in the letterforms.

The poster for a 1947 film entitled “The Unfaithful” was hand lettered in an extra-bold spurred serif design emulating a stencil typeface. This served as the working model for Matinee Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

The free-form Art Nouveau hand lettering on the cover of the 1918 sheet music for “Smilin’ Through” (from the MGM motion picture of the same name starring Norma Shearer) is the model for Upbeat JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions.

Uptown JNL was found amidst the pages of a 1944 edition of the vintage lettering design book entitled "Sixty Alphabets". This lovely Art Deco typeface has slight curvature to the straight lines of the letter forms and a wonderful hand-lettered look.

Wayang font was named after the beautiful shadow puppets from Indonesia. The font was hand made, using a bamboo pen and Chinese ink on rough, eco-friendly Italian paper. Wayang is spiky, ultra-thin, yet extremely legible. It comes with extensive language support.

A lobby card for the 1929 movie musical “Broadway Melody” features the bulk of the film’s title hand lettered in a playful sans serif style. This design is now available as Movie Musical JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

An offbeat typeface inspired by the titling of the 1969 Pink Panther cartoon starring the Aardvark, "Technology, Phooey". It contains an alternate H and T, as well as a handful of ligature swap outs for doubles like EE OO SS TT, etc.

The 1920s Art Nouveau movement spawned a number of beautiful hand lettered pieces of sheet music from that era. Attractive and narrow, the characters found on the title page of one such piece of music was the inspiration for Easy Money JNL.

"Kamila Arthur" was inspired by clean handwriting with a natural monoline flow. It contains lovely beginning, ending and connecting lowercase heart swashes. It appears to be an excellent tandem for minimalist wedding designs. Please, note that heart glyphs connect only lowercase letters.

A 1925 edition for an orchestral arrangements catalog entitled “Carl Fischer Progressive Orchestra Edition” has the title hand lettered in a bold, stylized Roman type design. This has now become the digital font Fancy Roman JNL; available in both regular and oblique versions.

Slightly erratic straight up brush tip handwriting script that was written with an ‘intoxicated’ hand, with a lot of very unique characters as a result. The overall font looks wild yet very readable. It includes all eastern European, Baltic, Scandinavian and Turkish characters.

Moonface Script is a flowing script with lovely swashes. It is based on the 20th Century Packaging typography. Moonface Script is a characteristic font with a retro feel. It contains a full set of ligatures, alternatives, swashes and special characters to end.

Fresh and New, Harder. Harder is an elegant script font. Made from vectorized hand strokes so that it will look neat on each side of the character. He has several character alternatives that will offer interesting options for any of your design projects

Ginseng JNL evokes the mysticism and grandeur of the Far East. The font was originally conceived as either electricity in motion or glass shards, but the design simply built itself into a typeface that pays homage to the hand lettering of the Orient.

The hand lettered title on the sheet music for 1917's "If They'd Never Take You from Me" was the basis for the Art Nouveau sans design of Nouveau Romance JNL. This elegant sans serif is available in both regular and oblique versions.
