Supernova is a new family that combines the spontaneity of a script typeface with the versatility of multiple weights and cuts. The development of script typefaces has largely been limited to variations in shape and proportion (and with the advent of OpenType technology, the addition of alternate letterforms). Their application has continued to be primarily linked to their emotional attributes, while roman types predominate in body texts. Supernova takes a step in a different direction and was conceived as a script typeface family comprised of several weights and cuts, including a versatile, eye-catching display version and a highly legible body-text version with five weights.

M Kai is a design inspired by the popular Kaiti developed in contemporary China. MKai adopts many features of Kaishu, one of the many Chinese writing scripts and calligraphic style. Yet writing style and constructions have been well-unified to meet quality as typeface. Its strokes has relatively heavier stroke beginning and finishing, as well as thinner middle part. It is catered for fine print with little conglutination. Its medium weight makes it more visible at distance and pretty versatile in use. Vintage sheet music was initially a partial inspiration for what started out as a simple retro typeface, but the basic hand-lettered design from the Art Deco era lent itself to some further experimentation. Geometric shapes were added to the original monoline letters and numerals and the end result was a marvelous display face called Cafe Society JNL. During the 1930s, "Cafe Society" was popular slang for the financially privileged during the Great Depression who dined at fine cafes while others who were able to eat out did so at diners and cafeterias.
