Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic was a Serbian philologist and linguist who was the major reformer of the Serbian language. In addition to his linguistic reforms, Karadzic also contributed to folk literature, using peasant culture as the foundation. Because of his peasant upbringing, he was closely associated with the oral literature of the peasants, compiling it to use in his collection of folk songs, tales, and proverbs. He was well known abroad and familiar to Jacob Grimm, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and historian Leopold von Ranke. This typeface, based on his manuscripts, presents the perfect balance between casual handwriting and careful calligraphy. Thoroughly created by Vedran Erakovic and Marija Rnjak, it contains a comprehensive set of upper and lower case letter alternates. Thanks to some OpenType features, such as contextual alternates, this typeface approaches handwritten text as closely as possible. Grosvenor is part of the Staunton Script Family of fonts designed by Ted Staunton for his historic novel centered around a family bible and the handwritten annotation through seven generations. The Grosvenor font is a loose script based on copperplate writing circa late 1800s.

‘Thwaites’ typeface is fully dedicated to one of my best Canadian friends who I do cherish and value highly. This great and industrious Canadian friend is ‘James Douglas Thwaites’ who lives along with his good-natured family in British Columbia, Canada. For me, James is like a source of inspiration and I do consider him as an ideal in my life. Our strong friendship has started since 1999 and I hope that it will endure just to the last moment of my life. Sometimes I see him as the writer and poet that I learn a lot from, sometimes I see him as a devoted religious minister that I try to understand more about his teachings, and other times I see him as the educator that I strive to imitate verbatim in my life. When I want to talk more about this Canadian friend, I will not be able to give him his due in full. Thus, I will instead mention some excerpts of his biography that he wrote himself saying that: “James D. Thwaites is a self-accomplished man. Having worked in various fields including restaurant management and cleaning, he has achieved his goals of being a full-time teacher, past-time writer, and volunteer religious minister for the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. His personal and academic pursuits have led him to be published in various magazines, newspapers, self-published books, and websites, including his now defunct ‘poetryofthemonth.com’ website. He continues to learn and augment the craft of writing while working primarily in early literacy and delayed literacy learners, teaching reading and literature to a wide age range of students. He views his religious endeavors as an extension of his academic ones. He teaches others both as a public speaker and in one-on-one situations, teaching about the benefits of submission to God and to His teachings. His future goals include expanding his ministry and continuing his writing.” The name ‘Thwaites’ itself comes from Great Britain and originated from the last Viking raids upon England, being an Anglicized version of a Scandinavian term meaning—depending on the source material—either "a place that is difficult to approach" or "a small thicket of trees." Another recitation mentions that ‘Thwaites’ can be described also as an English surname but one of pre 7th century Norse-Viking origins. It may be either topographical or locational, and is derived from the word "thveit", meaning a clearing or farm. As a locational surname it originates from any one of the various places called "Thwaite", found in several parts of Northern England and East Anglia to the south. The various modern spelling forms include Thwaite, Thwaites, Thwaytes, Thoytes, Twaite, Twatt, Twaites, Tweats and Twite. The name, although often appearing unique to outsiders, can often be found within other famous names like Braithwaite, Goldthwaites, or Misslethwaites. Coriander is the work of British designer Timothy Donaldson. It started out as a doodle one afternoon Donaldson was bored and uninspired. He wrote the word Coriander" and was then distracted by the sun beating through an adjacent window. He taped the writing paper up on the window as a shade. He took it down a few months later, folded it up, and stuck it in his pocket. When the piece of paper fell out of his pocket a week later, he was inspied to draw the rest of the characters, two alphabets in his sketchbook. The final digitized characters were created by Donaldson using a Wacom tablet and later refined on the screen."

A bit of happenstance and accident are always full of possibility — Richard Lipton’s Dunhill Script is based on observations of the work of his left-handed calligraphy students and then from a small detail generated by his own freehand sketching. Like his other script typefaces, Dunhill was born from the desire to achieve a certain visual drama. Many details show the pen at work, like the terminal shapes and the caps and ascenders. Vasili Vasilyevich Radlof or Wilhelm Radloff (Russian: Василий Васильевич Радлов; German: Wilhelm Radloff; 17 January 1837 - 12 May 1918) was a German-born Russian orientalist and founder of Turcology. Radloff is a German-born Russian Turcologist who researches the Turkish world from different perspectives, opens a new era in the history of Turkology by bringing them to light, and devoted 60 years of his 81-year life to these studies. He published his work known as Radloff's Atlas with a runic font specially developed for the Old Turkish Runic Alphabet. I made the Turkish Runic Font using Radloff's Atlas. I developed this Anglo Saxon Futhark font based on this font and adapted it to Anglo Saxon script.

Clarinetist Milton ?Mezz? Mezzrow (1899-1972) was a remarkable jazz musician, as becomes evident upon reading his autobiography Really the Blues. His sharp tone and serpentine lines inspired English lettering artist and jazz lover Michael Harvey to create a condensed, oblique display typeface with the look of a chiseled alphabet in the musician's honor. Vertical formats such as book jackets and posters will be invigorated by Mezz as the display face.

LP Bambus is another new handwriting script written with bamboo from German designer Peter Langpeter (lp-design.de). LP has been running his own design studio since 1995, working as a typeface and logo designer, as a calligrapher, cartographer and illustrator. During this time LP created a large number of excellent new typeface designs. Now, we are extremely happy that LP has chosen to let URW digitally produce and market his designs.

This version of Goudy Text is based on drawings from which Frederic Goudy based his Goudy Text typeface. However, there is a big difference between his original drawings (in The Alphabet and Elements of Lettering) and the subsequent metal type version, and my version maintains the greater warmth (and irregularities) of the original drawings. Goudy's Lombardy caps look especially nice when used as initial capitals with Goudy Text.

Bodoni Classic Swashes is my personal addition to Bodoni’s family of typefaces. Bodoni did not design a decorative version. His quest was for purity in book design. Even though in his days it was not called design; he thought of himself purely as a printer.
