The new font “The Best We Could Do” was created by artist and author Thi Bui who used the font in the graphic novel by the same name. An uncredited typeface discovered within the pages of Alphabete: Ein Schriftatlas von A bis Z named "Fat Cat" provided the pattern for this exercise in minimalist type design. Spandau is one of the 12 boroughs of Berlin and, if you add Ballet, a New Romantic British band. It is also a very nice all caps art deco font. Not too soft, not too angular, just about right! Some upper case letters differ from their lower case kin. Comes with all the diacritics you'll need.

Good ideas never will die. Based on the concepts of former Leipzig student Volker Küster in the mid-1960s, I redrew and digitized the basics and extended them into a complete multilingual caps-only poster font which I named “Brocken”. Its letter-forms strongly remind me of the mighty rocks covering the highest peak, Brocken, in Northern Germany.

Chank claims to have the fastest type design, we think we have the youngest. Samuel was merely four years old when he wrote out his first face. Cajito is a font family with a medium contrast, developed for numerous uses, ranging from app to website and catalogue to corporate design especially for logo design, Cajito has ten alternative capitals and his terminal looks like the fins of a fish. Hierra is a reinterpretation or redraw letter design of a font that appears in the collection of fonts of Dan X. Solo. Strong German flavor this is a letter of rough edges and a special blackness that recalls ancient typefaces Art & Crafts. Hierra is also presented in the Rough version which increases their antique woodtype appearance.

Here's a great old face from the H. W. Caslon foundry in London; a real workhorse. The lowercase is eminently readable, so you can set entire paragraphs to good effect. We don't recommend it for setting all caps, but we did take time to kern it well; so you won't get a jumble of ovelapping letters if you do.

A 1935 song with the unusual title of "Dinner for One Please, James" had its title hand lettered on the cover of the sheet music with simple, condensed letters made by a round point dip pen. This has been reproduced in a digital font as Pen Lettering Sans JNL, and is available in both regular and oblique versions.

While browsing through a Dan Solo type reference book, Jeff Levine fell in love with the multiline stylings of one particular typeface, then sat down and re-drew from scratch his own interpretation of the design. Jeff's version is called Art Lover JNL - offering kudos to art in general, the Art Deco movement and (of course) type design.

While working on a font based on Spencerian Script (a popular late 19th century handwriting style) we did some experimenting with original designs which created the general feel of Spencerian and brought to mind the spidery handwriting of old ladies and Dickensian clerks. The result was Arakne, a spidery script font with a really striking look.

No, I did not have a splinter in my hand when I came up with the name for this font. It sounded right, so I used it! Splinterhand is a script font made with an almost dried out marker pen. It comes with a whole bunch of diacritics and it can be used for just about anything.

In one of our yearly type hunts, we came across the ancestor of this font, much wider and more decorative, with fine outside shading. Condition was poor so we did the obvious, cutting out the excess decoration and condensing the face optically. It reeks of dancing girls and drunken sailors and other colorful attributes of Old San Francisco.

I’ve never been one for zombies and all that. I did watch a couple of seasons of The Walking Dead, but after the 2.000.000th zombie got whacked, I had enough. When I made this font, it gave me a zombie feeling. One thing I learned from watching TWD was that zombies are always hungry. There you have it!

Four letters for this font came from a puzzle in a 1983 Games magazine. After seeing them, I could not resist the temptation to do a complete set of letters made from push pins or tacks, a truly tacky font.
