Sheet music for another one of those songs from the early part of the 20th Century with a wonderfully wordy hand lettered title was the model for the Art Nouveau flavored Go Home JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. 1908's "I Used to be Afraid to Go Home in the Dark (Now I'm Afraid to Go at All)" is comprised of eighteen words. It may have been a mouthful to request from the local sheet music shop, but the lettering on its cover made it a great candidate for preserving as a digital typeface.

Jenson Oldstyle was designed by J. W. Phinney of the Dickinson Type Foundry in 1893. Jenson is based on the 'Golden Type' designed by William Morris in 1890 for his private press editions under the imprint of the Kelmscott Press. The original digital Lanston version of this face included a companion Oblique. This remastered set instead features a true italic based on the 1893 ATF italic version as well as a newly digitized Jenson Heavyface based on Phinney's design of 1899. Jenson Italic Pro features alternate lowercase forms based on ATFs then contemporary Cushing Oldstyle Italic.

Don’t let the name “Trippy Hippie JNL” fool you. Although the type design fits well with the 1960s-70s hippie movement and the “love generation”, the design is actually straight out of a page from a vintage German lettering textbook entitled “50 Alphabete fur Technikur und Fachschulen” (loosely translated to “50 Alphabets for Technicians and Specialized Schools”). The novelty, free form shapes and stroke weights of this hand lettered alphabet fits well in creating 1920s period pieces or for designing a retro-inspired rock and roll concert poster. The Mailart Rubberstamp font was inspired by rubberstamped envelopes and artworks by Mailartists Jonathan Stangroom, H. R. Fricker and Flea Art, and the typeface Clarendon Condensed. Mailart Rubberstamp now has an additional Bold weight and complimentary Obliques. One of the most enduring type styles of the Art Deco era is Huxley Vertical. Its clean lines and stylish appeal have transcended changing times and tastes. Many typefaces have been inspired by the original, including the model used to create this font. The design was found in the book "Lettering and Alphabets", first published in 1946 by J. Albert Cavanagh. By re-drawing it from scratch, the missing numerals, punctuation, special characters and accents were added. Hagemann JNL and its oblique version are named in honor of one of Jeff Levine's friends within the type design community -- Michael Hagemann of Font Mesa.

The hand lettered word ‘puzzles’ from the box cover of a 1940s set of metal “connected” puzzle pieces manufactured by the A.C. Gilbert Company was the initial typographic model, but some additions and changes were made. Instead of the right side of the ‘P’ being a semi-circle, it was changed to a more conservative ‘’squared’ look. After drawing out all of the necessary glyphs, the overall height of the characters was extended to make the letters and numbers appear taller and narrower. The end result is Narrow Deco JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Linotype Really, designed by Gary Munch, is a typeface family of six weights with italics and small capitals that offers a broad palette of expressions to draw from, sensibly light to brightly stentorian. The moderate-to-strong contrast of the vertical to horizontal strokes recalls the Transitional and Modern styles of Baskerville and Bodoni, and the subtly obliqued axis of the stoke weight recalls the old-style faces of Caslon. Iki Mono is a multifaceted monospaced typeface designed for publishing and coding. Its sans serif structure displays some letterforms (as well as a degree of contrast) that are reminiscent of 19th-century grotesques, while in the non-oblique versions the letters have been very slightly slanted leftwards. Like typewriter typefaces Iki Mono has to cope with the limitations of a width system that forces shapes into a specific space. "Karnak" itself was based on the geometric slab-serif "Memphis", designed in 1929 by Dr. Rudolf Wolf and released originally by the Stempel Type Foundry of Germany. According to Wikipedia, "Karnak" "was named after the Karnak Temple Complex in Egypt, in reference to the fact that early slab serifs were often called "Egyptians" as an exoticism by nineteenth-century type founders." Available in both regular and oblique versions, Bookkeeper JNL serves well as both a headline and text type face.

Sheet music for the tune "Put Your Arms Around Me Honey" (from the 1937 film "Coney Island" starring Betty Grable, George Montgomery and Cesar Romero) has the song title hand lettered in a condensed Art Deco sans serif design. It seemed to be a favorite thing amongst songwriters of that era to come up with very wordy song titles. The cover of the sheet music for 1907’s “Every Little Bit Added to What You’ve Got Makes Just A Little Bit More” checks in at fourteen words, but the hand lettered title (done in an Art Nouveau style) made it worthy of transposition into a digital type face. Geiger is a geometric typeface inspired by type found in the intros of Commodore 64 games, its attention to the grid and its limited set of building blocks. The design of Geiger respects these criteria to create a sturdy alphabet without diagonals, and loosen its grip on the classic limitations to produce a complete character set worthy of today`s high-resolution displays with a retro touch. The properties of classic computing platforms, like their limited memory and low-resolution displays, required that the designers and programmers of the time devise and use certain techniques to produce interesting visual results.
