Khatt tries to mimic the concept behind the meaning of the Arabic word Khatt: a straight horizontal line. The word Khatt is also the word for calligraphy in the Arabic language. Sanitation JNL is a bold Art Deco sans design inspired by some stylized hand lettering on a 1930s-era WPA (Works Progress Administration) poster and is available in both regular and oblique versions.
