Many great lettering examples were found in the 1939 French publication by Georges Léculier, "Modèles de Lettres Moderns" ("Models of Modern Letters"). One design in particular is a stencil alphabet so typical of the Art Deco movement of the 1930s. Artwork Stencil JNL is now available digitally in both regular and oblique versions.

The Rick Griffin fonts are based on the 1960s psychedelic poster lettering of the Californian artist. Rick Griffin is the regular font without outlines. The Rick Griffin Contour font has the additional outline characteristic of many Griffin posters, and the matching Rick Griffin Contour Ground font can be overlapped to create bicolor artwork.

A hand lettered Art Deco ‘stencil’ design used in various ads for “Holiday” and other Pathé films was found in the July 22, 1930 issue of “The Film Daily”. Similar in style to Futura Black and other like designs, it is now available as Deco Holiday JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

An ongoing movie review column known as the "Critic's Forum" (such as was found in the May 23, 1936 issue of The Film Daily) had a simple Art Deco monoline hand lettering of the column's name. Redrawn digitally as Film Critic JNL, this typeface is now available in both regular and oblique versions.

Nature Stencils JNL brings together a number of vintage decorator stencils with bird and flower motifs (along with individualized elements from the original designs). These home decor stencils were manufactured by the Huntington Oil Cured Stencil Company somewhere around the early 1950s. Originally located in Huntington, New York, the company later relocated to the South Florida area, but there is no additional information found about the company's background.

Based on ten characters found on the cover of a 1960s Blue Note jazz album. The source characters were originally designed for film-based typesetting by Wayne Stettler as part of a single typeface published by Visual Graphics Corporation (VGC) under the name Neil Bold. Pexico is a pixel typeface that uses 10 by 14 grid (capital letter) in 8 styles: 4 basic styles for text setting — Regular, Bold, Narrow, and Mono and 4 stylistic variations of the Regular style for display setting — Outline, Dots, Round, and Inverse. It fits the display's pixel grid when used at 20pt size or its multiples. Pexico supports Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek Monotonic scripts, all with thoroughly designed diacritics. Since 2005, I have repeatedly attempted to create a neutral-looking grotesque with a humanistic character. I wanted a pleasant, soft typeface. The typeface should appear similar to Helvetica or Univers, but with more open shapes and therefore better readability. The features are deliberately reserved with 4 gradations plus italics. The onum feature for Old Style Figures contains additional alternative letters such as a looped g. The italics have a swash feature with some decorative shapes. As a sans serif, HGB Bacco does not appear to be technically constructed, but has a friendly, open character and is also suitable for longer texts.

Whenever I see clippings on TV of demonstrations, protesting against this or that, with people holding up signs, I am surprised about the signs being professionally printed or plotted in Helvetica or Futura condensed. I've even seen signs in Zapfino! That doesn't really cut it, it doesn't look much like a real protest. So I decided to give the protesting world a real good font for the occasion. In German a Revolte is an uprising, I thought that was a good name for the font. Hasta la victoria siempre from your revolutionary type designer Gert Wiescher.

Peter started as a sketch in the static sans-serif tradition of Helvetica®. Then slight references to the calligraphic origin of type were added, giving it a more distinct character. This neo-grotesque sans has rational and clear basic letterforms, while in its details it unfolds attributes of humanist type. As a neo-grotesque sans it claims a very modest design, yet being a bit wider than its relatives and offering the warmth of humanist drafts. The early sketch grew to a type family of 18 fonts and now supports 700+ glyphs with pro opentype features.

Gently rounded in shape, Kassena is reminiscent of the round thatched huts of the Zulu people. The triangular motif is inspired by the designs used in the decorative crafts of the Nguni African tribes.

An ebay purchase of a vintage Speedball lettering pen set yielded an extra bonus… numerous alphabets on paper rendered in both pen and ink and via pencil sketches. One such design in rough pencil layout is a classic serif typeface often found on many passenger and freight trains, trolley cars and busses. This “Railroad Roman” was scanned from the original sketches and then re-drawn digitally, all along retaining the charm and attractiveness often found in hand lettering. The end result is Streetcar JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

French Stencil Moderne JNL is modeled from an alphabet found in the 1930s publication "100 Alphabets Publicitaires" by M. Moullet, and is available in both regular and oblique versions. Strongly resembling the stencil motif of Futura Black, this French stencil alphabet has enough variations to give it a unique design flavor all its own.

An old ad for Cointreau Triple Sec Liquor featured a bolder variant of the lettering style found in a set of vintage tin stencils that were the model for French Stencil JNL. This is now available as Belle Epoque Stencil JNL, in both regular and oblique versions. “Belle Epoque” means “beautiful era” in French.

A type foundry example showcasing some letters from a narrow slab serif wood type design served as the inspiration for Wood Serif Poster JNL. This condensed typeface is available in both regular and oblique versions, and digitally recreates the kind of lettering found on flyers, broadsides and newspaper headlines of the mid-to-late 1800s.

Sheet music for a selection from the 1928 musical “New Moon” had the show’s title hand lettered in a bold sans serif that reflected the upcoming Art Deco movement, along with a contoured outline around the letters. This served as the model for Poster Contoured JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Despite its macabre-sounding name, Headstone Roman JNL is not a novelty font for Halloween or horror movies. Instead, it's an attractive Roman typeface based on an example provided of a guide for stonecutters to use when cutting epitaphs into tombstones. RM Sans has been designed to offer an useful but inexpensive family of 5 regular weights; 3 condensed weights; 5 outline weights and an 'eco' alternative. An online photo gallery showcased a number of vintage and unique signs around Europe – mostly from Germany. One particular sign (“1818-Hoofdkant Spaarbank-1921”) was formed in metal and with stencil letters of a distinctive 1970s feel. This served as the model for Euro Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Introducing the first typeface by Azure studio, Space 101! Space 101 is a handcrafted chalkboard reminiscent typeface with irregular slender lines and a quirky personality. The inspiration for Space 101 was found in an old signwriting book. The character shapes were updated and improved while still retaining the same charm. The 1920 song “Noah’s Wife Lived a Wonderful Life (‘Cause Noah Had to Stay Home)” is another example of one of those overly-worded song titles from early 20th Century composers. What’s more important for type enthusiasts is that the title was hand lettered with a round nib pen in a slightly ragged Art Nouveau style. Cleaning up the ragged design, the end result became Nouveau Showcard JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.
