FF Good is a straight-sided sans serif in the American Gothic tradition, designed by Warsaw-based Łukasz Dziedzic. Despite having something of an “old-fashioned” heritage, FF Good feels new. Many customers agree: the sturdy, legible forms of FF Good have been put to good use in the Polish-language magazine ‘Komputer Swiat,’ the German and Russian edition of the celebrity tabloid OK!, and the new corporate design for the Associated Press. Although initially released as a family of modest size, the typeface was fully overhauled in 2010, increasing it from nine styles to 30 styles, with an additional 30-style sibling for larger sizes, FF Good Headline. In 2014, the type system underwent additional expansion to become FontFont’s largest family ever with an incredible 196 total styles. This includes seven weights ranging from Light to Ultra, and an astonishing seven widths from Compressed to Extended for both FF Good and FF Good Headline, all with companion italics and small caps in both roman and italic. With its subtle weight and width graduation, it is the perfect companion for interface, editorial, and web designers. This allows the typographer to pick the style best suited to their layout. As a contemporary competitor to classic American Gothic style typefaces—like Franklin Gothic, News Gothic, or Trade Gothic—it was necessary that an expanded FF Good also offers customers both Text and Display versions. The base FF Good fonts are mastered for text use, while FF Good Headline aims for maximum compactness. Its low cap height together with trimmed ascenders and descenders give punch to headlines and larger-sized copy in publications such as newspapers, magazines, and blogs. There is even more good news about FF Good: it has something of a serif companion. Out of a lifelong inner struggle, Philip Bouwsma unleashes a masterpiece that reconciles classic calligraphy with type in a way never before attempted. Maestro takes its cue from the Italian chancery cursive of the early sixteenth century. By this time type ruled the publishing world, but official court documents were still presented in calligraphy, in a new formal style of the high Renaissance that was integrated with Roman letters and matched the refined order of type. The copybooks of Arrighi and others, printed from engraved wood blocks, spread the Italian cancellaresca across Europe, but the medium was too clumsy and the size too small to show what was really happening in the stroke. Arrighi and others also made metal fonts that pushed type in the direction of calligraphy, but again the medium did not support the superb artistry of these masters or sustain the vitality in their work. As the elegant sensitive moving stroke of the broad pen was reduced to a static outline, the human quality, the variety and the excitement of a living act were lost. Because the high level of skill could not be reproduced, the broad pen was largely replaced by the pointed tool. The modern italic handwriting revival is based on a simplified model and does not approach the level of this formal calligraphy with its relationship to the Roman forms. Maestro is the font that Arrighi and his colleagues would have made if they had had digital technology. Like the calligraphic system of the papal chancery on which it is modelled, it was not drawn as a single finished alphabet, but evolved from a confluence of script and Roman; the script is formalized by the Roman to stand proudly in a world of type. Maestro came together on screen over the course of several years, through many versions ranging widely in style, formality, width, slant, weight and other parameters. On one end of the spectrum, looking back to tradition it embodies the formal harmony of the Roman capitals and the minuscule which became the lower case. On the other it is a flowing script letter drawing on the spirit of later pointed pen and engravers scripts. As its original designers intended, it works with simple Roman capitals and serifs or swash capitals and baroque flourishes. The broad pen supplies weight and substance to the stroke which carries energy through tension in balanced s-curves. Above all it is meant to convey the life and motion of formal calligraphy as a worthy counterbalance to the stolid gravity of metal type. The Maestro family consists of forty fonts distributed over two weights. The OpenType version compresses the family considerably down to two fonts, regular and bold, each containing the entire character set of twenty fonts, for a total of more than 3350 characters per font. These include a wide variety of stylistic alternates, ligatures, beginning and ending letters, flourishes, borders, rules, and other extras. POWERPLAY a monospace lowercase alphabet with a 3D twist. Designed by André Toet in 1976 (during his study at Central School of Art & Design, London, UK) and he redesigned this in 2011. The name Powerplay is based on the Battersea Power Station, London. FA Berlewi is inspired by stencil lettering of a vanguard creator, Henryk Berlewi, who was a precursor of contemporary typography, a painter and a creator of the mechano-facture (Mechano-Faktura) theory. In 1924 he designed a poster for his mechano-facture one-man show in Warsaw Austro-Daimler car salon. An attention-grabbing composition with stencil lettering was doubtless a real innovation and according to Berlewi - the first typographic poster to be made in Poland.

Lewis F. Day, in his book Alphabets Old and New, offered this typeface as an example from sixteenth-century England of lettering incised in wood. The font is essentially monocase, but there several lowercase letters are alternate letterforms. Please note that, due to the ornate nature of the letterforms, this font does not contain math operators, fractions or superior numbers. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin and 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan) character sets.

As with other fonts in this series, it is named in honor of Jeff Levine’s good friend Albert Eckhardt, Jr. who owned Allied Signs in Miami, Florida from 1959 until his passing.

Aliykit Open a decorative OpenType font generated from geometry with parallel lines of open and closed forms, by the way they can fit inside the Art Deco style but is part of the design influence of Venezuela in the area of art and cinetic art, his set of characters includes letters for western and eastern European languages and Cyrillic, also provides several ligatures that link between them. Samuel Welo was a sign painter who had published in the 1920s and again in 1960 his “Studio Handbook – Letter and Design for Artists and Advertisers”, prolifically hand lettering all of the type style examples within the pages of the publication. In 1930 Welo also published “Lettering - Practical and Foreign”. From this book comes a thick-and-thin hand lettered Art Deco alphabet – now available digitally as Sightseeing Tour JNL in both regular and oblique versions.

Irena is a cubist/expressionist font inspired by Vojtěch Preissig. Preissig (1873-1944) was a Czech typographer, printmaker, illustrator and teacher, whose work was influenced by Japanese Art and Symbolism. During WWII, Preissig supported the Czech resistance and he was arrested in 1940. He died on June 11th in Dachau concentration camp. This font was named after his daughter Irena Bernášková. The Irena font is angular and square(ish), yet easy to read. It comes with extensive language support.

Arbotek has the original skeleton that the author used for the development of his typeface Arboria, a real 'architect typography', with a basic and radical approach to pure geometric forms. The three basic styles - Thin, Light and Light Rounded - try to approach the cartographic technique annotations and their output on plotters. The voluptuous style, Ultra, keeps the same structure of the Light versions, but develops as a historic Art Decó variant of this 20s and 30s graphic style.

This font, as indicated by its namesake, was designed and started by the late Bob Alonso. It represents the first of his unfinished work to be completed by friend and colleague John Bomparte, following Bob's passing in December of 2007. It is a font that speaks with a distinctively robust voice; and would be a great choice for a wide variety of uses. Central European languages are supported through OpenType, and Windows/Mac OSX TrueType versions.

Lewis F. Day, in his 1910 classic Alphabets Old and New, filed this work by Laurence Schall under the category of Celtic-inspired, and surely it is both. This font included a few special extras, including a Celtic cross in the florin position, a Celtic knot is the dagger position, a shamrock as the asterisk, and a double shamrock in the double-dagger position. Both versions of this font include the Latin 1252 and Central European 1250 character sets.

On April 20, 1950, film comedian Jerry Lewis indulged his love of cameras by opening up Jerry Lewis’ Camera Exchange on Vine Street in Hollywood. It closed in 1951. Thanks to an image preserved within newsreel footage of the shop’s grand opening night, a glimpse of the post-Art Deco signage with its unusual, block style lettering inspired a digital version. Highly unusual and best for novelty projects, Shutterbug JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Damian is a font designed with simplicity in mind and a hint of flare to catch the attention of the user. The sans serif style is based off of the geometrical features of Futura and Univers. The name comes from a colleague who asked to be named after the font, it was his birthday, how could I say no.

My father is retired from teaching after a distinguished career as a professor at the University of Texas (and other colleges). He's also retired from writing in longhand, ever since I digitized his script several years ago. Professor is a slightly modified version of my ol' dad's cursive hand -- a good, strong, helpful, friendly, personable hand, much like the man. Use Professor for all your casual handwriting needs: my father doesn't mind. Comes in a single, medium-weight style.

Arkwright, named for a well known fictional shopkeeper who kept his shop open all hours is inspired by traditional British (and transatlantic) shop signage. It is a spiritual companion and ideal companion to our more elaborate Granville family. Arkwright is offered in Regular and bold weights and a more decorative 'Grand' form. These faces are especially suitable for posters, period advertising, Chapter headings and signage. Arkwright and Granville are also offered together in a value pack.

Misses Twiggs is a contemporary modern serif created by the American type designer Alex Kaczun. It compliments its partner Mister Twiggs and is a perfect marriage of two fonts. This wood type revival is a rare specimen, indeed. Audebaud is a charming and bold 19th Century Clarendon of French lineage. With its rounded terminals, and unique proportions; this font will instill a joie de vivre in any design. The design was inspired by the work of Constant Audebaud. Audebaud was an engraver of wooden type that was used for posters and the like. His work appeared in the 1880s in the Deux-Sèvres département of France.

Angustina is an elegant display typeface, it takes inspiration from classic letter styles. I chose the font name after reading the classic Italian novel “The Tartar Steppe”. I was inspired by the sickly, stoic and mysterious man who differs for his willingness to stay at Fort Bastiani. Angustina conveys distress and stinging sensation with extreme contrasts between thick and thin strokes and exasperated serifs. The alternate of hairline and bracketed serifs gives Angustina a modern and military appearance.
