Black Bamboo is a beautiful plant. My father in law, who recently passed away, loved it and had a prized specimen growing in his garden. This font was named in his honour. Black Bamboo font is a bold typeface, created using a good brush and quality paint. It is all caps, but upper and lower case differ and can be freely interchanged. There are many subtle and dramatic differences incorporated into this classic beauty. Many shapes have undergone a bold transformation, while others lines remain faithful to that classic period of time that we all know and love. Kaczun Oldstyle works great in headlines, but it works equally well in text at a wide range of point sizes. Use it instead of the old times because, after all, we live in new times.

Radial is a multi-line retro sans-serif font that is reminiscent of fonts from the 70s / disco era. It is all caps, but the lower case glyphs have rounded edges for a subtle difference if you are looking for a softer look. Use open type for some discretionary ligatures of common letter pairs (when set in all caps). Great for use on posters and in headline copy.

I just love biscotti; they’re one of my favourite cookies! Sincerely Yourz is another font in the Love Letters series from Outside the Line. It is a hand-printed font with extra letter spacing. All the letters have about the same height. All vowels are lower case whether they are caps or not. This font has a fresh contemporary hand-lettered look. While it can be used as a headline font it is really designed for body copy.

A 1931 poster for the film The Man from Chicago provided the pattern for this quirky Deco delight. Although the fonts is all uppercase, tasty variants have been added in the lowercase positions, and all possible letter combinations have been kerned, so you can mix the forms freely. This font is an adaptation of the typeface I designed for TJX Europe, which was used in their branding campaigns for the TK MAXX stores all over Europe. Bex Script is a riff on traditional French script forms: the Bâtarde, the Ronde, and the Coulée. It has two versions: First, there’s La Belle, a straightforward, lovely interpretation of the script form, suitable for things like invitations, poetry and branding. La Belle’s evil twin is La Bête, a more whimsical (and considerably more hairy) version, great for anything that requires an elegant-but-beastly feel. Bex is surprisingly versatile! NOTE: A few years ago in Paris, I was lucky enough to stop at the Librairie Paul Jammes in St Germain-des-Prés, where I bought a turn-of-the-19th-century signature from a Type Specimen of the printer Joseph Gaspard Gillé. The irregularity of his script types — particularly the ones at smaller sizes, like the Cicéro — was very intriguing. They seemed to blend the Ronde with some elements of the Bâtarde and Coulée. And they, along with the work of French master penman Louis Rossignol, gave Bex Script its initial form.
