I set out to create a solid, bold, strong, rugged font, one that would lend itself to any industrial type of use, and by that I mean industry in general, but probably sectors that would still be considered male preserves such as carpentry or metalwork. I thought specifically of mortice & tenon joints, whilst toying with shape and form for this self imposed challenge. I was also visualizing a router tool used for producing most wood joints nowadays. I think the general premise worked out well; in the end I settled on the name Mortice, referring to the slots or negative spaces that the matching part, or tenon would fit into.

This new script font was based on our previous font ‘Rachele’. Mentha is a very flexible script with a big set of swashes, condensed, strong and with nice loops at the end of some letter shapes. An ad for the annual Variety Club Convention appeared in the March 18, 1940 issue of "The Film Daily. The main headline was hand lettered in a classic Art Deco "solid" style of sans serif - ultra bold and with no counters - but had one additional feature: 'engraved' lines to the left of each character. This has now been expanded into the digital typeface Trade Convention JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. IMPuzzled uses the OpenType feature of Contextual Alternatives to alternate two sets of characters. The sets are on two puzzle pieces that tessellate, that is, fit together to fill the plane with no gaps or overlaps. Empty pieces are on the brace keys and can be used to fill spaces. The black or solid style is designed to be used in a layer under the regular style, though it can be used alone if adjacent pieces are given different colors. This unusual font has limited uses but may be appropriate when the topic is related to the broad areas of puzzles, puzzled, and fitting pieces together.

Kathmandu, the Nepalese capital in the foothills of the Himalayas, is not like any other city. That's why Kathmandu Bold is not like any other font going by the name of a town, either: This font is not as digital as Chicago but not as solid as Aachen. Saga is a rather narrow typeface designed for a typeface competition arranged by a Scandinavian graphic arts magazine. It had to be based on ancient runic characters, that's the reason of some peculiar angular shapes. Saga is not att all a new runic typeface, but a usable one when the columns are narrow. The name is taken, of course, from the Nordic mythology. But saga" in the meaning of "story" contributed to the decision about the name. Saga was released in 1992.

Neuron Angled is based in the idea of Neuron, the original font designed in 2012 by Corradine Fonts' team, keeping from its predecessor the proportions and slight narrowness. In this version the rounded edges are replaced by sharp contours and flat endings. A broader typographic system is proposed in Neuron Angled to obtain a versatile and modern typeface without missing its original distinctive style. The neutral aspect of the family allows its application in a wide range of projects specially in those related with branding, signage and editorial design. A tessellation is a shape that can be used to completely fill the plane—simple examples are isosceles triangles, squares, and hexagons. Tessellation patterns are eye-catching and visually appealing, which is the reason that they have long been popular in a variety of decorative situations. These Tessie fonts have two family members, a solid style that must have different colors when used and an outline style. They can be used separately or they can be used in layers with the outline style on top of the solid style. For rows to align properly, leading must be the same as point size. Shapes that tessellate and also resemble real-world objects are often called Escher-like tessellations. This typeface contains Escher-like tessellations of birds. A number of years ago I decided to see how many of the 28 Heesch types of tessellations I could use to make birds standing on the backs of other birds. I found standing bird patterns for all 17 of the types that had either translated or glided edges. The TessieStandingBirds typefaces contain the standing-bird shapes that I discovered. At first glance they seem to be quite similar, but small differences matter in how they fit together. Most of the patterns require more than one character. The sample file here shows how pieces fit together to give tessellating patterns. (Earlier tessellation fonts from IngrimayneType, the TessieDingies fonts, lack a black or filled version so cannot do colored patterns.)
