The idea for Quirky was born while I was looking at a book of etchings by British artist Graham Clarke. Bill penned the initial forms and Myron did the digital conversions and initial technical work. Grand Slam is based on an old cardwriting style known as Poster Gothic. This dynamic letterstyle was used in the heyday of the Hollywood movie poster because of its powerful and snappy appeal. CastleType was commissioned in 1991 by San Francisco Focus magazine to digitize three members of the Standard family. This is a Continental lineale that was popular in Switzerland in the 1950s and later in the United States.
