Breeze is a fun font from Frank Marciuliano where the letters are formed like the sails from the boat. He may have been inspired from the sailboats which he sees on the walks along the shore on the Hudson River. There are two forms available. Left and right define the direction of the blowing wind.

Bedtime Jewel was inspired by a kids drawing in the kindergarten, and I did my best to keep the childish approach while keeping the legibility. The result is a charming and naive font with a adventurous twist. Every lowercase letter has 3 different versions and capital letters R, K and Q has a swashy tail.

The hand lettered title on the 1911 sheet music for “That Railroad Rag” was designed in a block style letter with spurred serifs. The inspiration for Brattleboro Stencil JNL was found within a reproduction of a sales catalog for stencil punch dies manufactured by S.M. Spencer & Co. (originally of Brattleboro, VT), circa 1868. Basically a sans serif letter, the font's unusual feature is its "split tail" design where the letters take on a bit of a "Western" look in appearance.

An old wood type we picked up in London from the Fredrick Ullmer Company. It's not marked, and we've never seen it in a catalog, so we don't know who made it. We like it for antique-looking western posters and playbills. We added the lowercase. We have seen it used on British music hall bills.

Akebono means dawn in Japanese. It expresses the pleasure of imbalance. Stems and strokes are mixed--straight and round with slender terminals and arches. Designed in 1928 by Alessandro Butti under the direction of Raffaello Bertieri for the Nebiolo foundry, Paganini defies standard categorization. While it definitely is a classic foundry text face with obvious roots in the "oldstyle" of the Italian renaissance, its contrast reveals a clear underlying modern influence. In a typical Italian artistic fashion, Paganini manages to be a superb text face while having enough priceless ornamental moments to make it great in display uses as well: Check out the splayed M, the wide-tailed g, the flowing tail on the y, the high-armed k, etcetera. While the original metal version was limited to five basic fonts, this digital expansion includes small caps in the three main upright weights, plenty of alternate forms in all fonts, a super-seductive Open font, and an expanded language support covering the majority of Latin-based languages.

The hand lettered credits from the 1931 melodrama “Safe in Hell” inspired the typeface Pre Code Movies JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. The design is strongly influenced by the popular Art Deco style of thick-and-thin characters and also features rounded corners. The font’s name comes from the early era of talking pictures and the short period before the establishment of the Hays Office in 1934 when Hollywood did not self-censor itself. This work is inspired by creatures that I have drawn for my six year old boy. The monsters can be found at chrismetcalfe.com. I wanted to take their hair/fur and translate the fun attitude to type. To be honest I think this font is used best as display type. However the fun attitude lends to many usages without structure.

Par Avion's design draws something of its inspiration from the wings of the old BSA Motorcycles logo and was developed in parallel with our Vinea typeface family. “Par Avion” means ‘By Air’ - remember those little blue stickers in the Post Office - for sending Air Mail? The typography on a 1964 children’s activity book published by Whitman entitled “Build with Stencils” was in a bold, condensed design. The only problem was that the ‘rails’ [the parts that divide a letter into stencil pieces] were too narrow and would disappear at smaller point sizes.
