Mentone is a new general purpose typeface, an attempt at extending the line of the great sans-serifs of the previous century, Frutiger - Stone Sans - Myriad. The font has round corners and subtle chamfers, which are all but invisible at text sizes, but add an upbeat, irreverent expression at display sizes. The typeface is named after the beautiful bayside suburb of Melbourne, Australia, where the designer lives. This new version (2.01) was spaced and kerned by Igino Marini of iKern. The semibold cuts are now free!

Guzzles is a very legible font and has that great ‘unevenish’ look - making it a great typeface for packaging and books, and practically everything that has to with organic and creative projects. This family was inspired by numerous documents and books printed in Paris during the end of the 1700s. Mainly, documents printed by P.G. Simon & N.H. Nyon, “Printers of the parliament” were used for the Normal and italic styles and “Caps”. “Titling” characters were coming from a collection of hymns printed by Nicolas Chapart. In France these Fournier characters, as Baskerville in Great Britain, were the most often in use in the late 1700s, just before the Didot designs. This font supports strong enlargements, specially the capitals of “Caps” file and “Titling”, remaining very smart, elegant and fine.

The hand lettered title found on the cover of the 1932 sheet music for “Dancing Marathon” inspired the digital revival of this unusual lettering as well as the font’s name. This eccentric Art Deco design (with a slight bit of Art Nouveau mixed in) is a thin, monoline typeface. Dancing Marathon JNL is available in both regular and oblique versions. Dance marathons got their start during the Great Depression as people desperate to earn a few dollars would enter into contests that went on for hours until the last couple remained standing on the dance floor.

Made in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland), HyperTurfu was born during the shooting of “The Return of Hyperturfu Xpress 2”. A GoPro on a lego electric train, meters and meters of rails, an empty industrial space, loads of puppets, paper, cardboard, pizza boxes, lights, hot glue and a bunch of friends preparing a one shot scene for a month. The title of the movie was made out of lego pieces, painted with golden spray and hanged over the rails. It was the first inspiration for this awsome superbold font. HyperTurfu is thought from ground up to give a strong impact. It’s gothic retro science fiction 80’s style makes it best suitable for metal music albums or posters. As the “Banco” font it works perfectly with short texts for advertisement, bar, cofee shops concert places or even fancy hairdresser. Just hang it over a pet shop and see what cool animals will come in.

The year 2022 went and 2023 came. I can honestly say that last year was a horrible year and I am happy it ended a couple of days ago. The first week after New Year’s Eve always fills my head with the U2 song ‘New Year’s Day’ - so I named this font after a line from the lyrics. I also happened to watch a fantastic movie called ‘Im Westen Nights Neues’, directed by Edward Berger, but based on a book by Erich Maria Remarque, which, in English, was published as ‘All Quiet On The Western Front’. So there you have it: naming a font in 2 easy steps! ;-) All Is Quiet is a lovely brush font, which I created using my father in law’s Chinese pencil and ink. I can suggest some uses here, but I am convinced you can come up with that yourself.

Sign Helpers JNL is a collection of silhouette images carefully redrawn from two distinct sources. Prior to their bankruptcy in 1984, the Holes-Webway Company of St. Cloud, MN produced thousands of their "Webway" sign kits that were utilized by merchants, libraries and schools throughout the country. At one point they included in their sales catalog a selection of die-cut images for embellishing sign work. In the late 50s and throughout the 60s, the Joseph Struhl Company (now known as Magic Master Industries) produced cling vinyl sign kits for business, and a home movie titling set for do-it-yourself film makers. This set also featured die-cut embellishments. A generous selection of designs from both kits have been faithfully re-drawn in digital form to pay tribute to two innovative companies. Other fonts based on products from these companies are Sign Kit JNL (Webway® Sign Kit), Cling Vinyl JNL, and Sign Maker JNL (Magic Master® Sign Kits). In the 1930s the WPA (Works Progress Administration) was involved with getting a number of Americans back to work during the Great Depression. One faction of the WPA's efforts was the Federal Art Project. Thin, condensed hand lettering on a poster for an Art Exhibition at the New Bedford Free Public Library is the inspiration for Art Exhibit JNL.
