Busted is the very strange and out-of-character outburst of Bill Troop, a guy who was classically trained in everything, from classical piano and literature to classical photography and type design. As far as we could tell, Bill Troop is the kind of guy whose appearance and voice instantly trigger thoughts of black and white photos, fedoras, and pre-industrial age Europe. A few years ago, he even moved from the United States to England, where it took him less than a week to feel at home and start sounding like a Norwich native. Then something happened and the poor dude just snapped. Busted is the controversial result of the blood rushing to his head. If you know what exactly happened to him, please let us know. Concern, consideration and human interest story aside, Busted is a fascinating thing. It is a set of four interchangeable thick outline fonts where the same letter forms turn from wild to wilder to broken to somewhat clean. Mix them up in a setting and you have words that snarl with a sneer. Life's too short. Take it all with a grain of salt. Scream whenever you feel like it. Busted Pro is a single font combining all four character sets, and rigged with an OpenType pseudo-randomizer in the contextual alternates feature, which you can disable or enable anywhere in your setting for maximum visual shock just the way you like it. Quendel has been expanded to become Quendel Happy Family. Apart from the new Bold weight for easy distinction and emphasis, there are now four other very exciting variants, rendering different writing tools and writing materials. The basic form of Quendel was written with a Japanese bamboo tip and therefore embodies a form letter of natural flow. The new versions show other features that provide the feel of written scripts. While the styles Wood and Crayon include some alternate characters, Q Marking Pen and Q Fingertip, due to their apparently more complex enacted forms, do not need additional alternates without looking stiff or boring. The wood relief of Quendel Wood was created by a freehand wood relief drawn with oiled chalk. Quendel Marking Pen seems to be written with a felt-tip pen soon depleted. At the same time it is also reminiscent of the blooming effect, which we know from photography. The name of Quendel Fingertip suggests what can be seen - someone seems to have written with the finger in a grainy material. One would like to try it himself. The effect of broken lines which can be gained by writing with chalk as reflected in Quendel Crayon. Almost like parched sandy soil, the writing material seems to crumble.

Kolkman is a nondescript, bold, sans-serif typeface. In addition to a standard version, there is a version with shattered letters and another with striped or grayed letters. The shattered and striped versions can be layered on the regular version to get letters with two colors.

Fela family was designed for books and posters for young children to gain high readability and nice feeling. Every glyph was hand drawn and shaped for better result. This typeface consists of different alternate glyphs with special automatic script, many special characters for different languages and pictograms.

In a World War II training film from the U.S. Signal Corps, the opening title card saying “First Aid” was hand lettered in an extra bold, Art Deco inline style. Those two words (with seven available letters) used as a work model has inspired Film Reel JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Dirty Money SRF is a novelty font with a limited character set emulating the lettering found on U.S. currency. The typeface was designed by Brad O. Nelson of the Brain Eaters Font Company. The first release of XLaserTrain, a toy train font, was constructed by taking bits from the four LetterTrain fonts. Version 2, released in late 2010, added a great many cars with holiday and party themes. The bold version has smoke over the cars and you may have to adjust line spacing (leading) to have it display properly.

Hand-hewn from sturdy planks with nary a splinter, Timber is a font with origins in the forests of our imagination whose genesis is displayed in its undulating grain. This typeface is Mergenthaler Linotype’s unlicensed version of Futura, copied weight by weight from Bauer. It was produced in 1939 when Metro failed to gain a significant share of the market, and was later adopted by ATF. The small sizes of Book and Heavy cut for classified are original.

We know very little about this font. A printer in Lisbon had it, but said it came from England. Nicolette Gray shows it in her Nineteenth Century Ornamented Type Faces as Lord Mayor from the British Typefoundry. We never got the complete font, but drawing the missing letters was not difficult.

Kempoka is a Japanese word describing someone who practices Kempo. Kempo, or Chuan Fa in Chinese, is a martial art with roots in China and Japan. I thought of this brush font just before my weekly kempo-training and I figured the name suited the font style. Kempoka comes with alternates and ligatures, and has a black belt in diacritics!

Rambla is a humanist sans for medium-long texts. It’s slightly condensed, with a generous x-height and short ascender/descenders. Its proportions have as objective to gain space in height and width. It’s elegant at large sizes and legible at the same time, with a lot of rhythm in small sizes.

HU mobydick is a body font with square modules and a wide space composition. Sharp right-angled joints and strong endings. And thin strokes are combined to complete a harmonious typeface for body text. The gray level of the body text is set low, so it can be used for light work.

Display block letters inspired by train station LED board. Board Deluxe is a humanist version of previously release Board based on bitmap diamond cells pixel font. This is an original typeface designed in the Arts And Crafts style. It is similar to Arts And Crafts GS, but with a more organic hand lettering style true to the Arts and Crafts movement. It is loosely inspired by the decorative lettering of Jessie Marion King, and the Scottish style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh of the Glasgow School, from which Jessie received her training.

Hollywood Revue JNL gets its design inspiration and name from a vintage movie poster for "The Hollywood Revue of 1929". The letter style shows early Art Deco influences, yet the hand lettering was done in the late 1920s toward the end of the Art Nouveau period. MGM produced this early "talkie" all-star musical with a cast that included Jack Benny, John Gilbert, Conrad Nagel, Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton, Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer, Polly Moran and many others. This is the motion picture where Cliff ("Ukelele Ike") Edwards introduced "Singin' in the Rain" (composed by Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown). Years later, Freed was a producer at MGM and gathered up many of the songs he and Brown wrote during the 1920s to form the musical core of the 1952 Gene Kelly-Debbie Reynolds-Donald O'Conner musical "Singin' in the Rain".

Shandy is a cheerful, free-spirited font that dances jauntily along an undulating baseline. Swanville developed as part of a train font that eventually became LetterTrain. The letters of Swanville are bold, have a funny “serif” on the top but not on the bottom, and when the letters have interiors, the interior has the shape of the letter. Lower-case letters are smaller versions of the upper-case letters. Because development of this face stopped long ago, it has a limited character set.
